Hello All,
Im pretty new here, this is actually my first post, so bear with me lol. Today at approximately 5:35 I was offered the position of an At Home Advisor with Apple. YAYYYY!! However I feel as thought I wouldn't have been as prepared if it wasn't for this forum. I studied this forum day and night for weeks, and although there is a ton of information to sort through it helps tremendously. This is my opportunity to pay it forward. Ill give all the details that I can remember in hopes that it too will help someone on their journey to becoming an At Home Advisor with Apple.
I initially applied for the Apple At Home Advisor position in December of 2014. I applied to about 10 different postings. After months of not hearing anything I kind of lost hope on Apple. I say that to say this, this process has been lengthy indeed but if its something that you want to do don't lose hope.
Six months after applying I randomly received a call from an Apple recruiter in May of 2015. The call was rather short. It lasted about 10 mins. If I recall correctly, I briefly told her about myself and why I wanted to work for apple, we also went through my resume. She then asked me what good customer service meant to me and that pretty much wrapped up the conversation. During this conversation she briefly went over the potion and the pay and asked if I was still interested. She offered me a second interview in which I accepted.
The following week I was in the interview process via FaceTime with another Apple associate. During the beginning of the interview she explained that training was 7-8 weeks long and during this time my attendance was expected monday-Friday 10-7 EST, and she wanted to know if I had any scheduling conflicts. I explained that there was a day that I absolutely had to have off as I would be taking the GRE for grad school. At the moment she told me that we would stop the interview and I immediately thought I'd blown my chances, however the lady was extremely nice, she understood how important the GRE was and told me to focus on that and once the testing was over to reach out to her and if there were any available positions at the time that we could pick up where we left off and so she provided me with her contact information and that was the end of that conversation.
Exactly a week later I got yet another call from an Apple associate. She stated that she had been made aware of my situation with the GRE and informed me that they had a training class that would be taking place in August and wanted to know if I would be at all interested in interviewing for that class. I gladly accepted and we proceeded to set up the interview. Also during this phone conversation she had informed me that the compensation had increased from the initial amount they offered. It increased from $16.75 to $17.40.
A week later I had my first FaceTime interview. The interview was very relaxed. The lady I spoke with was extremely nice. It lasted about 30 mins. During the interview we went through my resume where she asked me to explained what I did in each role that I had listed. After which she asked the following questions....1. Tell me about a time where you were presented with a difficult problem by a customer and you were unable to resolve the issue, what did you do and how did that make you feel? 2. What do I believe I would do as an At Home Advisor, what do I believe the role consist of? 3. Lastly, we did some role playing. A lady calls in and she's upset because she's at the the airport coming from her honeymoon and she dropped her iPad which holds all of her pictures, and she wanted to know how I would handle that. After I responded she stated I did an okay job, the key is to show empathy and build rapport but DO NOT make the situation worse by trying to relate, its okay to not be able to relate. At the end of the interview she told me she would be moving me on to the next round of interviews and I should hear something within 2-3 days.
A week had went by and I hadn't heard anything from anyone from Apple so I started to worry, especially when she told me I could expect to hear something within 2-3 days. I decided to email the interviewer and cc the recruiter and I found out via email they had reached out to me several times to an email address that was no longer valid and the interview had passed. I was so sad, but surprising the next day I received an email from another Apple associate offering to reschedule. I knew then that this opportunity was meant for me.
My last interview was on June 26. The interviewer was AMAZING. It didn't even feel like an interview. We spent the majority of the time just talking about Apple and how amazing of a company it is to work for, and how there is so much room for growth and tons of opportunity. However these are the questions he asked: 1. If I get ready to start the work day as an at home advisor and my internet isn't working, what would I do to trouble shoot the issue? 2. What is rapport and how do you build rapport? 3. Tell me about a time where you had to deal with a difficult customer how did I apply my definition of rapport to resolve the issue. 4. Lastly again we did some role playing. The scenario is as follows: A guy calls in, he just purchased an Apple TV, he plans to use this Apple TV to play music during a dinner party he is about to have in 15 mins but when he tries to play pandora he's getting and error that there is no internet connection. How do you resolve his issue. Again build rapport, ask questions to gather as much information, and of course try to take the correct troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
At the end of our conversation he hinted around to me having the job, he told me I was one of his best interviews to date and I should be hearing something from a recruiter within the next 1-2 weeks, however I received a call 2 business days later. I am entering the background check stage now.
Good luck to everyone set out to be an At Home Advisor, I wish you all the best!
