Touché... If it makes you feel any better, all the new iOS hires got kicked down to 20 hours. We had been scheduled for 40 :(

Wasn't aware of that. So how much advance notice did you guys get? If any?

Sheesh, I assume folks are basing their household budgets on anticipated income.

----------

I was just contacted by my recruiter from Apple. He requested that I send something to him to verify employment for my years as Freelance. Anyone else have their recruiter ask this of them? I haven't heard a word about this from anyone.

Wow, they really are cracking down on unverifiable stuff. You're the first that's posted such a scenario.

We got a one day notice on the schedule change. We were told earlier in the week that we'd be full time until Jan. but I think they realized that they over-hired and cut everyone to 20 hours. The change made some ppl happy and others concerned about their budgets.

That sucks. Come on, one day. People probably would have held off on certain purchases based on this decision. Trying to stretch the dollars.

I kind of saw this coming because calls were coming in farther and farther apart. In any case, when I started I planned my days around full time and planned my budget around part time. Not everyone did this though. People can request OT but there's no guarantee they'll get it.

Yeah, I was happy with part-time because I was putting in 40/week with Kelly at $9.15/hour. So I was ecstatic to put in practically half the time with a few bucks difference in take home pay. But I was looking forward to banking some extra cash, particularly with the preferable hours I was given.

I am in complete shock ATM. I have Corporate tax forms with a corporation name but nothing such as a DBA for my proclaimed computer company. I've been doing it all as freelance. I sent 2 forms to Hire Right as well as the same 2 forms to my recruiter. I sent back a reply with the 2 documents, a voicemail, and another e-mail stating that I sent in the forms and left a message.

I'm pretty much at a loss for words at this point.

I'm guessing I'm in the same situation as you. I said I was self employed which to me was doing anything as myself. I did not have a DBA or anything else that HireRight wanted to use to verify. Pardon my french but how the hell are you supposed to prove you are working for yourself and why does anyone care? I probably would have been better off saying I've been unemployed for the last while as there is nothing at all they can ask for to verify that. /puzzled

My update:
Yesterday I received a call from Will and answered a question or two. He set up an interview with Susan for today. Then I received the questionnaire 30 mnutes later which I promptly sent back. I had my interview by phone with Susan 3 hours ago. It went great! I was a little worried because from previous posts Susan seemed to be a second interviewer though it wasn't set up for FaceTime. Susan said I did great and told me to expect an email to set up my FINAL interview by FaceTime and the link for the official paperwork. My interview is on Tuesday afternoon! I was told it was for a part time position which I'm ok with. Anything to work for Apple. I work part time now.

My Timeline:
8/16 applied Allentown, PA > no response
8/19 added other cities
9/18 new ID applied for several cities > no response
10/14 New ID applied for several cities after tweaking my cover letter but when pasting cover letter/resume it went "wonky" which got their attention LOL
10/17 received call from Will, set up phone interview with recruiter and received questionnaire email
10/18 had my phone interview with Susan, received email to set up final FaceTime interview and link for official paperwork
10/23 Scheduled FaceTime interview for the afternoon

Hoping I keep moving forward. I was also told that training would start 11/26.

:D

 I hope everything checks out with our HireRight BCs! Don't know about you but I am stoked for this position!

Well, if you are a computer support person working for yourself and don't have a DBA it seems to be getting tough. I have been doing PC support for almost 14 years now and I started doing it for income 7 years ago. Though too young to realize to make a DBA and have been doing it freelance for a long time and doing odd jobs here and there. I have put myself in a position where I can not verify my income for that part of my BGC... The other places I have worked are verified though.

Just wondering if anyone else has been given an 11/12 start date for CPU training class? Originally scheduled for 11/5 but was told on my offer call it was pushed to 11/12. I'm seeing a lot of 11/26 dates but not 11/12. Still waiting on offer email....

My status update......still waiting! HireRight emailed me today to verify freelance work. I gave them a 1099 form and crossed my fingers. It doesn't account for the whole time I listed, but it's the best I can do. Still hoping for that 11/26 class!

No, actually I think that sucks! I hope to God that doesn't happen to me, and sorry that happened to you.

I was just kidding. But if your contract does not clearly state full time then be prepared to possibly bounce from 20 to 40 hours and back again with short notice. Honestly, I think someone at Apple dropped the ball when they told us a week ago that we'd have 40 hours per week through Jan. While it was clearly within what our contracts stated it was not very good employee relations to set that expectation.

20 hours a week is better than nothing but the income is still too close to a full time minimum wage job. At least I'll have the time to pursue regular full time employment or go back to freelancing during off time.

These are names that have been frequently mentioned in previous posts. But I understand. If you're savvy you can pick them (recruiters/hr) out of Apple's company directory posted on a few websites too ;)
