Hello,
How did you find information about analog phone line service of Verizon?
I have been trying to find such info. on their website, but I just cannot find it:(

I, somehow, thought Comcast offer plain old telephone system, so I scheduled installation, but later found out ( I asked via online chat with Comcast agent) that their service is digital:eek:

I worked for Verizon for 10 years unless you subscribe to a fios phone line or digital phone you will have a analog or pots line.. you probably will have to call customer service.. basic phone service is a fios area will not be advertised for obvious reasons..but you can request it.

----------

Thank you. I will try these. Yay for the delivery!!!

Those links ate better than the torrents because they are in PDF so u can print it.. the torrent file I have is in epub so I can view it on my iPad but not a good formatting for printing!...

----------

They do ship the equipment to your home. From what I've read it's either a 21 or a 27 inch imac. No, you cannot use vonage. The recruiter told me it has to be a hardwired analog line.. some folks say digital phone is ok (like cox or comcast)... but vonage is a big no-no.
I would ask the recruiter or your hiring manager about moving out of state.
Hope this helps!

Digital phones are ok Because the lines are secure.. non secure lines are your vonage, Skype, magic jack, Google voice..

Just an fyi when you digital for your phone (Particularly the ones offered through your cable company) make sure you boost your internet speed to ensure enough bandwidth which is always a possibility.

----------

Will you post the link to the torrent site?
I used utorrent but your link is much better...

Hi Melowsan!
I ended up calling Verizon and asking. Told them exactly what I needed and why. Cox was rude and acted like NO ONE installed analog lines anymore.

----------

Digital phone is OK. Analog phone is OK. Internet phone is NOT OK.

- Analog (POTS) service from an old Baby Bell system/AT&T is OK.
- Digital phone such as service provided by a cable company is OK.
- Vonage/Skype and other services which use the Internet to connect are not allowed.

There seems to be a lot of confusion because digital phone uses VoIP which sounds like it is Internet based. It is not. It uses Internet-based protocols but they are confined to the cable company network and behave very differently than a product like Vonage.

I'm sure it is ok, and will work with our setup. However, the recruiter told me specifically no digital lines, only hardwired analog copper. Maybe something to clarify during the paperwork session.

:D Nope, still holding strong! :D

I can't find it. I see other mac books but not that one

crazysbill, type in os x (with a space between os and x) up in the top search bar. If you just type in osx it won't find it.

Does anyone know if the phone landline has to be a new line or can you use one that is already in place? Haven't let go of my AT&T landline that was put in when we built the house in 2007 since we live in the mountains and cell reception is not always reliable in this area. Don't want to have to pay for a 2nd line if I don't have to :)

I believe it has to be free of features such as call waiting or anything else that might interrupt a phone call. I don't see any reason it couldn't be an existing phone line, just as long as nobody else could possibly pick it up in the house while you are working. Apple likely has an official policy on this I haven't heard yet though.

I plan on using a phone line that we've had for 46 years with the same number. I currently only use it as a fax line and nothing else. I surely hope that's going to be okay.

Thanks, Trevorman. I can drop call waiting and no one else in the house except kitties (four pawed kind lol) and spouse but he'll be working most of the time and can use his cell.

Encouraged

Don't assume....I applied back in July and thought they weren't interested and they contacted me October 10 and my whole process including bc and call with offer lasted 12 days since I got the call yesterday.

Thank you for posting this!

I am sure they will or you can arrange to pick it up at the Fed ex Center.

They will email you soft copies the day of the paperwork session, if you don't recieve your packet in time.

Anyone know when we receive our mypage info and equipment tracking info?

----------

Is the paperwork session completed at home? What is the process for completing this?

The session is a group conference call.
You just mute and listen.

Follow the directions on the I-9 , they are very particular with it.

You can take that to an Apple Store to be completed, everything else can be done at your house.

Right... I was just trying to confirm whether or not we had to go into an Apple Store to complete the paperwork session...

Thanks...

Two things:

1. Thank you so much to you all for the invaluable information/encouragement that's always posted here.

2. Good luck this week to everyone waiting on an offer call...sending positive, calming vibes your way.

If you don't live near an apple store, is there a way to fax it in?

I haven't done mine yet but I believe from reading previous posts you can go to a bank and have a notary public do things. Though at least one person mentioned that Apple rejected their documents for some reason and they had to try again. I think you can call HR at the time and someone will walk everyone through the steps.
