Do we pay for the benefits?

Yes but it does not cost that much... depending on the plan you choose and number of dependents.

Same here! I was told that geographic area and if you were near a metro area had something to do with whether there were any full-time openings and I had been watching for over a year for them to post full-time in my area but it was always only part-time and the recruiter verified that was true for this area. No idea why this is so, but I really wanted to work for Apple so I applied for p/t hoping to get f/t sooner rather than later. Even p/t beats unemployment any day-- at least we get benefits! :)

Honestly, I don't see why f/t or p/t would be based on geographic location... geography has nothing to do with call volume and that's what schedules are based on. I'm in iOS and am on EST and have taken calls from California, Egypt and Kyrgyzstan. After 6 months we can try to get into other open positions including tier 2 and potentially full time cues but your mobility is dependent on how well you do in your current spot. If you have good stats you gotta much better shot at getting regular full time or into one of the more interesting cues like OSX server. Bottom line is what Apple needs first and what you want comes second.

I hope it's not true that you can't have an L-shaped desk. That's what I have and I don't see a reason to need a new one. It's very roomy.

I agree that it should make no difference .... but that is what was told to me by 2 different HR recruiters. Something about only having a certain number of positions available per team/area and more p/t available overall. And yes, business need always trumps personal need. Will just need to have killer stats and hope something opens up :)

Anyone know if there has been any mention of needing a printer/scanner/fax connected or available for iMac?

If you really want to work for them....Never give up, regroup and apply again, just know what you can improve.

its not a measurement of the desk height, its floor to elbow, floor to line of sight etc,.,, it may not make sense but when you go through training you will understand most likely the desks you are using are fine, its the measurements of you and ergonomic positioning, more then anything...:D

I would say for a desk option go with a table/writing desk for the space, if the space in your home permits. The desk/table I have is from IKea and its the malm vanity table ... It's narrow and long which was perfect for me! But now I am looking for just a tad more space I will going with this ...also from ikea using the office drawers with the kitchen countertop.

Citychick!!! What is this witchcraft!!! That link you send me is the exact same desk I've been eyeballing for the past five days!!! Minus the right draws because I see it with only the left ones :) thanks for helping me with the decision lol

You should link the parts from ikea :)

I took a different direction for my desk years ago. I built one that would
allow me to be comfortable standing as well as sitting. I use an adjustable
drafting chair that will allow kneeling, sitting or leaning when I'm standing.

I like the freedom to move around without feeling "confined" to a desk and
chair.

Just a thought for something different.

Anyone know if the 1/28 class is iOS or CPU?

My wife is trying to get in, and they mentioned 1/28 class. Just wondering if anyone knows yet.

How's it going? Did they cut your hours back? We could use you in CPU, as it is plenty busy. Like you, I plan to either use this as some other IT launching pad, or switch into something more interesting i.e. servers, or the networking queue.

It's going OK... still adjusting to the "customer service" angle since I'm basically a tech guy. I'd switch to CPU in a heartbeat if I could but I'll probably have to wait it out. I do know the CPU cue is usually slammed since I have the monsterboard widget and check it from time to time. At first we were all under the impression that iOS would be working full time but they hired too many reps and the call volume was not as high as expected. That may change since the holidays are upon us and we basically got slammed Sat. and it got down to less than 10 seconds in between calls for a few hours (its usually 1 to 2 mins for TIA).

Woot-woot!!

FINALLY got the call & had my fears put to rest - I'm in :):):)

It was worth the wait to hear those words "Welcome to apple"

Training starts November 26 & iMac and the rest gets delivered next week.. apparently I'm getting a ipod touch, nano & shuffle for training as well.. wicked!

The next 2 weeks can't go fast enough!!
