Woot-woot!!

FINALLY got the call & had my fears put to rest - I'm in :):):)

It was worth the wait to hear those words "Welcome to apple"

Training starts November 26 & iMac and the rest gets delivered next week.. apparently I'm getting a ipod touch, nano & shuffle for training as well.. wicked!

The next 2 weeks can't go fast enough!!

Congratulations!

----------

Woot Woot! to those of you starting training today.

Good Luck! to those of you waiting for calls, bgcs, etc.

Happy waiting! to those like me who have gotten the calls and are now just waiting for their training date.

Regarding FT/PT and metro area...I applied for a PT position. The questionnaire I submitted stated PT. However, when I got the first interview, she said she wanted to actually interview me for a FT position. I do live in a city with an Apple store.

The city right next to me had full time positions posted. I was given a part time position. Anything is better than nothing. It pays more than the part time job I'm leaving.

I believe you and I both are in a major city. I was told from the beginning mine
was a FT position and they doubled checked me on it afterwards verifying
that I would be available for the hours needed and additional possibly.

Can anyone who started recently tell me how the pay periods fall? I think I read they are laid out where the ones in December would be the 7th and the 21st.

If I were to start on 11/26 (which I do), would I get a one-week's check on Dec 7th, then a regular one on 12/21?

I'm not really sure TBH.. I live in Australia so I don't know if the training is US-based (which would suck due to time difference) or AsiaPac-based..according to my recruiter there's only 20 AHA's active in Australia at this time..

BTW for full-time I am getting $56,136 base plus 9% Superannuation on top of that (compulsory employer contribution for your retirement - like your 401K)

As USD & AUD is about at parity, how does this wage compare to the US wages?

$56k? Uh. Wow. That is about $27/hour (almost $28 US with the exchange rate) which is WELL ABOVE anything offered here in the US... 80-90% higher per hour.

Honestly I don't buy that for one second if all other factors (benefits) are the same, etc.

Even in a ft for here in the states it's a bout 35-40% less compared too your salary..

have a look what IT consultants get paid in Australia and then you'll believe it. Our MINIMUM wage is $15.60 p/hr for full-time employment, irrespective of industry..

Call centre workers get paid on average $25 p/hr, and that's for an unskilled position, too.

look on seek.com.au or mycareer.com.au and then you'll see what Australians earn.. no offence but I can't believe such a 'rich' country like the USA pays like $8 minimum wage..no wonder the tips thing is so big over there!?!!

That's inane!!!... I think I'm moving to Australia :D

Nah, we use dollars. And it's the same role as you, no management.
The difference is our government doesn't screw us over if we aren't rich. Everyone gets Medicare, and if you don't have private health cover you just pay a $500 levy once a year with your income tax. Our economy was shielded by the GFC because we were a few steps ahead of the curve and we aren't greedy lol when you're unemployed & looking for work they pay you $595 a fortnight so you can survive, pay rent, etc..its JUST enough live on with how much everything costs over here.

Our standard of living is just higher and we expect to be compensated like 21st century humans, not slave wages the America, India & Asia pay.. no one could afford to pay rent or mortgages or buy petrol if we earnt $300-350 p/week..

If everyone is getting butt-hurt over our fortunate circumstances, I'll remove the offending post.. lol

It's official. I'm moving to AU.

I was also curious if they withhold taxes? Are we contract employees? Because in my packet I did not get a deduction worksheet to claim anything.......

We setup all that and choose benefits the first few days of work from what I was told on my call.
