I'm starting to freak out over those tests. I've already quit my full time stable job for this one  so I HAVE to pass. I have a lot of tech and customer service experience but from the comments it seems like the tests are challenging even though they're open book.

I guess only time will tell.

You did what!

Big no no! Never quit your job until you know you have one to replace it IMO...
Thats why they have 2 weeks notice

Well, that's actually hard to do considering training is full time during normal business hours. If you are working a full time job, you kind of have to quit unless you manage to get a month off while you train lol.

Anyway, I think you should just do your work during training, and pay attention. I think the talk of tests should simmer down because it's scaring people and making a bigger deal of it than it probably needs to be. Most jobs in this field have tests and if you think about it, more people who were hired pass these tests and get on the phones than those who don't. Sure, training classes dwindle down in numbers before they hit the phones, but it's not usually because they failed tests; many people just give up and quit.

Put your best foot forward and if this job is important to you, you'll certainly make sure you're working hard to pass the tests! Good luck to us all! ;)

Good point guess I didn't think that through.
I have only had one true tech job i started in high school. Sophomore year continued until 6 years later the economy got too bad. Owners desided to move on. I learned so much. Never did take a test. I fact the day of my interview, walked in the door heard a pc posting, asked the owner boldly in front of the customer check the video card? Owner said I was just going to. After a short discussion and meeting the customer. He said you have the job. No true interview was given. I was the only tech they had running repairs and assisting customers working on 16+ systems at any given time. I loved what I did. Now doing contract work for a company phone based and remote support hoping to move to apple for a career.

I couldn't do training and work too. i gave my other job a two week notice before training because my two schedules conflicted each other. I had no other choice. :(

i agree. this is my third job like this and i have taken tests on each one and did just fine but i think all the talk is making it seem much worse than it really is.

Tests

I wasn't trying to scare anyone about the tests, nor was I making more of them than needs to be. Since I finished all of them I was trying to give some advice to those of you coming in now. :(

I'm waiting a call or email like a bunch of you and it's been a crazy ride lol. Like most of you all of this anticipation is mainly because I want to work for THIS company in particular. This is a great opportunity, good luck to everyone waiting like me!

Can anyone who has started already confirm if there has been overtime available with the holiday that just hit?

Which city did you apply for? I applied for San Antonio and Austin on the 15th. Still waiting also!

Are you in nesting or live now then? How's it going? From what I heard they place you in a little bit of a slower queue during nesting so that you're not slammed.

My background check went fine, but one of the dates that they found did not match what was on my resume. I was contacted by an Apple recruiter (the same person who eventually gave me my offer call) and she wanted to see some proof that I was employed at the time on my resume. I didn't have any tax documents, so I had to send her an e-mail that I had received when I started that job. Luckily, I keep all of my e-mails! Try to be as accurate as possible on your resume. I did list mine by month and year only, but if the background check comes back positive, but still with the wrong date, you will have to supply some more information anyway.

Either that or we'll be dialing a toll-free 800 number to get into the queue to sync with our softphone.

Weird. I was off by 6 months on one job and no questions asked. Just a hiring email :)

Yea I hardly remember the exact months but I know in dead on with the years. Hoping they won't have issues. You would think as long as the business name matches you should be good.

Don't forget to google yourself as well. Be prepared to defend thyself if need be. I found that someone with my exact spelling name was arrested and is currently incarcerated in Mississippi for numerous charges including domestic and aggravated assault. Fortunately, we are both a different race. And no, I'm not starting a race topic. I always mark "other" on my applications.

Long live the people from Pluto!

I agree.. also your social media profiles will also come up.. Thats why all mine is a nick name with out my full name association, I like to keep my personal life just as that:cool:

----------

They can google my name all they want... My name is Jon King :D
I did a search for my name and the city i live in and a bunch of the old company stuff came up. I have no problem with someone Googleing (is that a word) me I have nothing to hide.

I was looking at apple care noticed they now do accidental coverage when did that start anyone know?

didnt know accidental coverage was included, unless it has been something newly added

I totally agree with you.. everyone interpretation would be different when it comes to test taking. I have heard different scenarios for the tests. The bottom line just be prepared organized and pay attention!! Take notes the best way suited for you.. I love Evernote but Im old school I like to write my notes and have them on hand Evernote is good after I have written them out.. so you have to do what works for you..

Most of us have some type of College degree and cert. and you remember open book test from then, use your same test taking tactics from then now...for me when ever the professor said open book I cringed I hated them.. those was usually the most challenging test, but if you had your notes together you could Ace it... this to me would be no different..

LESS THAN 24 HOURS!!! MY 11/26 PEEPS WHERE ARE YAHHHH!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!

Can't wait....why is that people on here get excited about the job and when they start they turn ghost?

hahhaha exactly what I said lol:eek: I guest they needed the support to get through the process lol who knows....

oh and I hope everyone had a happy holiday:cool:

did you do any Black friday shopping?

Got a new table and chair, but this was before black friday lol I was excited and couldn't wait. Im all ready for tomorrow. I need to go buy something i can write on so i can take notes

Testing

Only half the people made it all the way through my training class. We lost about 10-12 people during Test 2. I felt bad for the people who quit their jobs to work for Apple. I agree with staying organized with your notes. Take screenshots and use bookmarks.

I'm (sort of) ready for tomorrow!

For now I'm using my old desk and chair, but I am sure they won't be up to ergonomic standards. I'll pick something else up in the next week or so. :)
