I strongly recommend that you quickly edit and remove all that information that identifies yourself and the names of the people you mentioned or you will probably be signing off on your oppportunity to work for Apple. Just a heads up man... congrats so far, but your post could totally blow it for you.

Other than their (Apple employee) names, what should I remove?

My thoughts exactly

1. Be yourself, dont' fake anything. If you aren't who they are looking for, they'll figure it out sooner more than later. Just be yourself.
2. Read previous pages back... tons of people have already posted these examples.
3. If things go well, then you'll proceed further with the interviewing process. Once again, read the previous pages.. it's all there.
4. Nope!
5. 21 Inch older model. Does it really matter? It's a work computer and can only be used for work.
6. You will get two. One USB to use during training or team meetings and another that plugs into an amp and phone.
7. No
8. Amazing! Fun! Challenging!
9. Amazing! Fun! Challenging!
10. I think so, check previous pages.

Mike, to me it's kinda common sense. You're the first person in this mega mile long thread that spans over two years to post such personal information about yourself and staff working for Apple. Serioulsy, why even take the time to write another post to question the post I wrote. Use your judgement. You asked for advice, and I gave it. Not trying to sound like a jerk, I'm more / less trying to stress the importance of editing your post before Google catches a copy of it and it's too late.

Call me crazy, but I don't have any issues with the "personal" information I posted about myself. I welcome emails and facebook/twitter interaction with people on here. I also don't mind people knowing what town I live in or other things. My life is pretty much an "open book." It's not like I posted my address and telephone number.

In the interest of privacy I will go back and edit out the names of the Apple employees, but I only included their names to find out if anyone else had dealt with them and get their experience.

I'm with MrMacMack it doesn't take long for google to capture anonymity is key, and apple will expect you to keep info to your self best to start now.

Okay Mike, so you came here and posted a thread titled, On my way to becoming an AHA and that you have questions and need advice. I gave you some very very crucial advice and you are choosing to ignore it. So I'm not sure what you want? Do you want me to lie to you? I am telling you that the post you made may very well ruin your opportunity to work for Apple. Take my advice or leave it... makes no difference to me. It actually does in a way, I feel bad that you're blowing this for yourself.

Edit: Heck, when they see how you're handing this situation alone, even this doesn't look good. haha

And I truly appreciate your insight and advice, and have since gone back and edited my post as you recommended. I have absolutely NO problem using my real name within the forums. I have never liked hiding behind a screen name. I feel as if I handled the situation properly and again, appreciate your advice, but the "arrogance" that you've displayed thus far is what causes many people to shy away from forums such as this as a newbie because if they screw up...everybody piles on. If this simple post has as much bearing you say on my being hired at Apple and this negatively affects it, then I will be the first to admit you were right. But for now, take off the tin foil hat and chill. I believe this has been blown WAY out of proportion.

Apple management is absolutely aware of macrumors and AHA personnel are aware of this specific thread. They tell us during training to stay away from posting on here because of ANY possibility of releasing internal confidential information, either on purpose or simply by being helpful and not realizing it. Apple can subpoena ISP logs, server records, etc. and compare addresses to employees to find out who has been leaking information. Apple is the most valuable company in the world and they take security seriously. Competitors look for any edge they can get on Apple.

While there may be little risk at the moment for posting as yourself, discussing very specific things and mentioning names of contacts at Apple is not to your benefit. This thread is a valuable resource for the hiring process and discussion is good, but keep things a little vague for your personal situation so you can't be identified. If you get hired, you will understand why.

Good luck!

Thanks Trevorman. Any future posts will be as vague as possible...

Mike I can totally understand why you feel like I was being arrogant. Unfortunately, I felt there wasn't much time available for you to edit your post before either someone quoted your content which would then cause you to lose control over it, or Google indexed a copy of it, or both.

I worked really hard to land this job and I know what you are going thru and will continue to be going thru in order for you to also land the job. I didn't want you to ruin your chance.

You may be comfortable using your real name in forums and such, but that isn't the issue. Apple isn't comfortable with it.

As far as the "newbie" thing, check my post count and signup date. I'm just as much of a "newbie" if not more of one than you here. :)

It's all good, I'm just glad you modified your post. Also I really am happy to help answer any questions you may have to the best of my ability. There are limits with what I can say though.

I couldn't have said that any better... if fact it seems I wasn't able to. So great job explaining that and thank you.

Thanks for understanding. I just felt kinda overwhelmed with the negative vibes I was getting with my FIRST post. I will be more cautious with any future posts.

Y'all have me nervous as hell about the tests! I'm going into CPU (training 1/21). I've done tech support from home before (not for Apple), so some of the CS stuff I feel I have a basic understanding. I've had a Mac computer for about six years, but it's not like I'm a developer or anything. I'm usually an excellent test taker and have very strong research skills, but man... I'm dreading training and it's a month away!

We found that the simple apprehension of taking the test was stressing most of us out. Having computer knowledge will certainly help you breeze through alot of the information a little faster. However, the amount of info you have to swallow in 7 days can be overwhelming. Then you have to use you research skills to locate the information that you studied. Not impossible, but you have to pay attention through class. Training in itself is a blast. I promise you will have more fun and laugh more, especially if you have awesome teammates. Just pay attention, take notes if it helps you remember.

One of the things we are taught is to use first name only when we're on the queue. Never give out your full name, nor your email address, nor where you work. The closest big city is all. Just something you may want to consider with your signature line.

And that is why everyone here has stressed anonymity is key.

Just wondering the timeframe for Hire letter after HireRight has completed and verified ones background. Received my (clean) downloadable copy on 12/18/12 after nearly a 10 day wait. Projected start date was 1/28/12 for AHA and am getting anxious as to whether I made the cut. Just wondering how long it took others to receive their letters before I impatiently contact my Apple case manager...
Advice appreciated:confused:

I'm in the 1/21 CPU (originally 1/28) - here was my timeline for that.
HireRight completed bg check on Thurs and I received a call Monday evening for the position. However! That was the second week in Dec. You may well have to wait a bit longer.

That's what happened to me. I received a call and then I received the questionnaire. Then I had 2 interviews. I'm currently in training. So sometimes the process gets wonky.

Good Luck!

Thanx! :) How long between your call and the questionnaire?

Mine was apply middle of Nov received questionnaire about a month later, then one week after the questionnaire i got a call.. keep in mind the multiple holidays. I'm sure they are off all of the next week here, but after the first of the year it will pick up again. So don't sweat if you haven't gotten any thing yet. sifting thru the thread the timing gets wonky from time to time. so enjoy the next week Im sure you'll get a response here soon.

The training is ridiculous.
Support, non existent.
Kbase is a joke.
Tests are difficult, and just mind games.
Pay is horrible for all the work you are expected to do.
Screen shot, take notes, listen in class all you want, it won't help you pass.
Best to have lots of computer systems, networking and in-depth working knowledge of iPad, iPhone, etc, in order to fly in this gig.
Total waste of my time, and yours too, possibly.
Have another job lined up as Plan B. Just in case.

Hopefully I will be joining you all soon as employees. Had my first interview and I have another one scheduled on Jan 8 for a class that starts in March
