Applied for this position on March 6th? Been waiting to be contacted back i hope soon, how long does it take for apple to reply back.

*i submitted resume, cover letter and questionnaire on march 6th. I am out of college( I have a associate degree in computer maintenance and service technology and have some experience. What kind of experience does apple take into consideration.
different timelines for different people. depends who you interview with. read this thread from page 1 and you will see no trend. there are good questions throughout, though.

my timeline went like this:
applied after thanksgiving....crickets
re-applied in feb. had two interviews....crickets
re-applied a few weeks ago....crickets

i guess this is payback for all the years i trashed apple products. i like to drive technology and apple products drive the user. you can do only what it allows you to do, yet the user feels so empowered. i use the phrase 'iphone smart' to refer to people that really aren't. i would probably have a hard time commiserating with what i deem 'stupid'. karma's a b1tch, yo'll

I still trash Apple products and I work here... Actually, the products aren't that bad, it's the prices and the "walled garden" bit I have issues with. I'm an open source kind of guy.

Also, I think iTunes blows.

Like a kid at christmas...

I'm awaiting my FedEx boxes with my Apple devices today. I'm like a kid at Christmas. Would it be inappropriate to hug the FedEx guy? ;)

itunes has blown since its inception. agreed.

yes, apple prices are ridiculous. there are products on the market just as good as apple for fairer prices, but you have to be an educated buyer to look for such. i'm frustrated at the lack of technological advancements in the last 10 years, yet people still throw a LOT of money at the crap. i see a correlation between apple consumers and people that watch the duck dynasty show. a different caste than i'm used to

open source here too. i understand your distaste for the job better now.

Lol yeah kinda I think they have sexual harassment laws against stuff like that. Lol sorry couldn't resist. Mine just got here a bit ago time to clear off the desk

I'm actually kinda afraid to even open the boxes. The bold text stating to not open your boxes until Monday morning at 8:30am and bet ready to go by 9am kinda makes me think there are hidden cameras or a tracking device on the boxes. But...I'm like you. I wanna go ahead and (at least) get the computer setup on my desk and everything in place and then wait until Monday morning to actually log on and use it. I just don't wanna get in trouble!

Just don't open box number 2...... Plenty have opened before and never got in trouble

Okay...but if they ask I'm gonna tell 'em you said it was okay. ;)

One other question I'm a little concerned about. During N.E.O. do they make you take a pic of your office and send it to them? My desk is old, yet functional and plenty comfortable. It's your "standard" computer desk and office chair. I wouldn't necessarily call it "ergonomic" but it gets the job done. My fear is to get all this way and they they tell me I have to go buy a new desk and chair when I have no money to do so.

Ergo compliance is by the end of training. That's how they can make sure we have money to do so. The chair I have a feeling is more important

Tech did kind of plateau a decade ago, there have been very few game changers since the early 2000's. A paradigm shift to some extent when everyone went mobile but no "killer apps" or disruptive tech has shown up for a while.

While I sometimes think it would be nice getting a paycheck for full time rather than 20 hours, I probably would have quit by now had this been a full time gig. CPU may be different but iOS is customer service, not tech support and taking call after call after call after call can get to you after a while. There are some people that like this kind of work but this is one of the most unpleasant jobs I've had in years.

I tend to agree. I'm really happy with the possibility (not hired yet) of part-time. I remember from other jobs how being on the phone for 8 hours straight can make you miserable. The first few hours were always the easiest for me, though...that's why this job was so appealing. Plus, I'm one of those disgusting people who really likes talking to customers. Seriously, I hear myself sometimes, and it's pretty nauseating. :p

Wow...I sound like I'm interviewing all over again. Blech.

I can do a 4 hour shift without much of a problem but 8 hours is too long. Those 10 hour shifts during Xmas nearly drove me over the edge.

I have not been able to reach my recruiter to ask but has any AHA reps had any issues receiving calls with having a long distance phone plan vs local only phone plan? My cable carrier does not offer local only phone plan but they did remove all features voicemail, call waiting, caller I'd etc. My only option if that won't work I will have to get a local only phone service from phone company. :/

Does anyone know if insurance starts on the 31st day or do you have to wait 00 days? Thanks!

Becky:confused:

Eeek! 10 hours for how many days running?
I actually live with one of the worst kinds of customers out there (brother-in-law). He's one of those guys that truly believes you can't get anything solved unless you aggressively intimidate the customer service people. It's super annoying to listen to him on the phone with ANY kind of help line. It becomes glaringly obvious that he has never been on the other side of that kind of customer interaction.

Fortunately, that actually helps me. It gives me a kind of insider's view into that kind of customer's mind. (Apple, if you're listening, that is the info to focus on...) Not to mention the patience-shield I've had to develop to avoid snatching the phone from him. :D Big meanie. Poor customer service peeps.

Insurance starts right away. Word from inside ld shouldn't be an issue

Thought I'd register and contribute a little. This thread has given a great deal of info, so thanks everyone!

I applied for a position through my university as well. The timeline went like this:
3/02 - sent resume/cover letter
3/04 - asked to fill out a questionnaire on the website
3/05 - invited to a virtual information session (which I attended, but I had attended one two months prior, on my campus)
3/06 - asked to schedule an interview

Then I had the interview on the 11th. It was over facetime and took about 30 minutes. I think I did okay, but there are some other parts about my resume which I think will probably lead me to not getting this... mainly the gap in work for the past few years (because of school, economic stuff), and maybe credit history, which is like 2 cards. :/ (

But! Specifics! Most of the questions were centered around school and customer service, actually. To elaborate, my interviewer would ask things like what my schedule might be like, if I was planing to do any internships, how I would handle the workload, etc:

For example:
if you knew you had a project due tomorrow, but had 10 minutes left in your shift, but no calls were coming in, would you start working on your homework while still on the clock?

(I answered no, with an explanation about keeping work and school separate...)

I actually got less customer service questions than I expected. There was some roleplay, but I was not so prepared for one of the technical questions, which was about the iphone, and how to recover something on it. I offered a few possible solutions, but nothing felt correct.

I was clear in my questionnaire that I didn't know so much about the iphone so maybe they were just testing me. My advice is to learn what you can about devices you don't own/lack experience. That was the only specific apple device I got a question for. The others were something you'd answer for any computer... (networking or printing issues)

The interviewer said I would hear something back in two weeks. No specific mention of a 2nd interview (if interested) vs an e-but maybe they just didn't want to get specific. I also asked about two questions afterwards, when asked if I wanted to. Probably should have asked more.

Most of us worked 2 - 50 hour weeks. I came very close to quitting toward the end of the holiday period.

I've never had a customer that tried to intimidate me. And anyone that took that tack would obviously be a little dim-witted because that's the dumbest way to try and accomplish something over the phone. Therefore, I'd most likely have the upper hand if it came to a battle of wits and will.

I do, on occasion, get people that are self-righteous, arrogant or just plain obnoxious and God help them because I'll make life hell for them if I can. We're supposed to be pleasant and cheerful at all times but I do not suffer fools easily and have a very limited amount of patience with idiots. Fortunately, those types of calls are pretty rare.

On the other hand, I'll go out of my way to help anyone that is being reasonable and acts like a civilized adult.

Quick question to those who already have been working

Im in the paperwork stage now. Im starting soon. Im living at my parents house, but will be moving to an apartment 30 min away from here around june. Is it going to be a problem to change the address and stuff after training?
