When reapplying do you pick a different location? The webpage will not let me apply to the same location again it just states "email description".

But when applying to a different location what do you tell the recruiter, if/when they call as to why you applied in a different location? Rather then where you live.

You have to apply for a different location. Change your cover letter and this is a work from home job so it shouldn't matter which state you apply to. As for the question "Have you spoken to an Apple recruiter before?" Just be honest and say yes I think. If I am wrong, would somebody please correct me?

2nd Interview

This is where I currently am in the hiring process:
-I applied
-I got a questionnaire
- I got a screening call from a recruiter
-I received an appointment email to do my first Skype interview
-I finished my Skype interview (Yesterday at 11:30-Noon)
*He said I would be passed to the next level and I should receive an email to set up an appointment for the next/ 2nd Skype interview

It is a day later at 4:15pm. I have not received that email. Should I be worried??
How long did it take before you got that email?

Thanks!

Don't be worried yet, lol. The email doesn't come directly from your last interviewer so it takes time to go through the channels. plus they operate on pacific standard time so its only going on 3 0 clock there and they work up until 6 or 6:30pm.

For my final interview, it took about 2 days to get the link to set up the interview! Don't be worried! If he told you he was passing you on, you will get the email just be careful in the final interview! EMPATHY is what they are looking for!

Just sent HireRight application

I have been following this thread for quite a while, ever since January when I applied for apple doing the AHA full time position. Been a huge help in me getting through the interviews by providing tips on what to expect and how to be prepared. I am not a genius when it comes to computers but I know my way around one more so than the average person. Also getting my Associates in Web Design and Development at the end of the year.
- I applied at the end of January
- Mid Feb got a screener call (light interview)part-time position
- Rescheduled interview for full time position had that end of Feb (skype)
- Had my 3rd interview with manager (skype) yesterday email for hire right within 24 hours.

My 3rd interview went really great! The manager was extremely nice and enthusiastic. Lasted about 3o minutes, brought up various role playing with different Apple products, asked me what RAM was (3rd time in interview process I had been asked that), and then briefly went over job. Start date is 5/6/2013 if all goes well for AHA full time.

Thanks for the great advice! Oh and I will pass this on as well. I really pushed empathy and I thank the thread here for that! Make sure you do this when you have your interview.

Last interview

Thanks for all the excellent advice!! My recruiter said the email about scheduling my final interview will come soon.

If I pass my last interview I will also be class of 5/6!!

Apple Reject -- Take 1

Hello to all of you,

I just wanted to take the time to say "Thank you!" to all the current AHA's and AHA-seekers on this board. I have found the 200+ pages of information to be invaluable and truly appreciate all the time that has been invested by each of you regarding Q/A's. I am posting about my Apple AHA interview experience, unfortunately I received the well-discussed and dreaded reply email from Apple, Inc. to the effect of "Thanks for your interest in Apple. At this time, we have chosen to move ahead with another candidate." ... I applied at Apple's official website and skipped the middle man headhunter job placement services online and filled out the initial application as well as submitted my resume back in late November of 2012.

I heard nothing back until late February of this year and it was in the form of a 12 question questionnaire in which I completed and returned promptly. 2 weeks after replying I was contacted via phone by an Apple recruiter to ask if I was still interested in a full-time 40 hour a week AHA job for Apple, of course I was so I expressed much enthusiasm and talked a little about what I do and why I would love to work for Apple. The recruiter was extremely nice and energetic herself so she immediately moved me on to a 2nd interview 5 days later which was also over the phone and lasted 25 minutes. Like a boyscout I had done some Computers 101 homework (already very savvy in the field when it comes to HW/SW and PC terminology) to refresh on the basics and I spoke to the 2nd interviewer about various troubleshooting issues, customer support and end user role play etc.

I was under the impression that I had aced this 2nd interview and would move on to the Team Manager interview which was to last approximately 45 minutes and the questions would be slightly more technical, I was told. The 2nd interviewer told me at the end of the conversation that I would be emailed within 3 - 5 days about whether or not I would move on to the final interview. On the 5th day of patiently waiting I received the "moving on to other candidates" email. I am a little perplexed by the fact that I answered any question that they threw at me correctly and compassionately (showing some empathy in certain key scenarios). This 2nd interviewer was incredibly difficult to hear over the phone and it sounded like she truly hated her job, her attitude and personality seemed to be the complete opposite of the first person that I had spoken to. Bummer! I knew I may be doomed from the moment she first spoke.

Anyhow, the position was for AHA iOS / full-time / $14.50 an hour and I was slated to start training in May, assuming of course that I was made the official offer and accepted. I do plan to reapply next month and trace back through the 2nd conversation in my head, making mental notes of things I could have said better, but I am definitely confused. To make matters even more confusing, one of my best friends and noted references on my resume is currently an AHA. I was honestly flabbergasted since I am by no means monotonous, have a vast history of working with computers in general as well as specific Apple devices etc. I will say this again and echo what the masses and general consensus of people are saying here... Show EMPATHY!!!

Also, do not come off over-analytical, nobody likes a know-it-all and more importantly, you're not a malleable mind that Apple, Inc. can "mold" into what they want during training. You're essentially a puppet or a robot with scripted responses implemented by them to the core of you. Overqualified candidates need look elsewhere, this is just my opinion of course.

Any insight on this? Thoughts?

You seem to be relatively intelligent and well-spoken, a rarity in this thread. After doing AHA iOS for 7 months I can say with full conviction that if you're intelligent, creative and enjoy problem solving... You will absolutely hate this job after a very short period of time.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great gig for college students, people new to the work force and people that enjoy customer service but AHA was never meant to be a long term career for anyone that aspires to be more than a phone jockey. I've been in IT for a long time and while the little bit that Apple pays has helped keep me afloat... without a doubt its the crappiest tech job I've had since working for AOL in the 80's.

"Overqualified candidates need look elsewhere" - That pretty much sums it up.

Thanks

AG,

Thanks for the feedback, I didn't mean to rant but I am a tad bitter and it's a shameless admission on my part. After reading your unbiased and honest response however, I am probably better off sticking to my current job and getting back to the daily grind. I guess I simply feel like some corporations string you along as if it's a social experiment of some sort only to disappoint you when they feel the need to end the game. Having to dumb down one's résumé is uncharacteristic of someone who takes IT seriously and wants to outshine potential competitors yet I did exactly this even. I was merely looking for supplementary income atop my current job which also has me telecommuting from home. I'll keep everyone updated when I reapply, the AppleCare benefits (namely Medical) would have been very nice as I hear it's quite good.

I wish everyone the best and having Apple, Inc. on your résumé alone is quite an accomplishment. Congrats to everybody!

So I filled out the HireRight application for the background check. I know I will pass that. You think i probably have the job? I would say that they would want to spend money on the check unless they were planning on hiring me right? Fingers crossed. Pretty confident that i have this.

I've read through all 240 pages of this and only seen 2 people that didn't get hired after receiving the HireRight email so I think you're good

Declined Applicants

Hello Everyone! I just wanted to update everyone on my experience. First and foremost, I made it to the third interview but was ultimately passed over. Therefore, I beat myself up and just couldn't understand it because I am qualified (probably over-qualified). However, I was offered and accepted an opportunity to work with Microsoft on a quality project that does not require me to be on a phone at all. I wanted everyone that has gotten that dreaded rejection letter to know that it probably was not you, anything you said, or anything you did. Ultimately, these recruiters are human. They may not have the skills or the "gut instinct" to recognize true talent when they see it and talk to it. This job has a large turn-over rate. That is why they hire continuously. It takes a strong and talented person to do this and to stick with it. As a matter of fact, one of the regulars on here (I believe it is AngryGerbil) is very up-front about the job and how bad it "sucks" at times. Therefore, I have decided to look at it this way: The recruiter did not realize the talent she had in front of her. Therefore, it was her mistake, and not anything that I did. I'd like to think that a month from now when a bunch of her recruits have quit; she will be wishing she had hired me and some of the others that she passed over. :) In the meantime, don't beat yourselves up or give up. There are jobs out there that are work-at-home, higher paying, and do not require phone time. Keep your heads up and look at the experience in a different and more positive way. "That recruiter did not know true talent when she had it right in front of her." Good luck to all that made it!

Yes May 6th people! Be nice to be in a training class with people i already somewhat know. I cant wait. I am so excited for this job. I have done call center work for years and excel at it quite well. To be able to work from home doing this full time with a great company is a dream come true. I am curious as to what this "free gift" is though? :)

Thanks... but no thanks :(

Just got the dreaded email, saying more qualified candidates were being continued on.

I am a little frustrated over that as I though everything went well in the initial interview(s). However if they weren't going to select me, after the 1st interview with the recruiter they should have ended it instead of lying and telling me I was going on to a 3rd interview while explaining what the rest of the hiring process is/was. I never got the email to schedule the 'final' interview instead I got this...

I'm all about setting peoples expectations, if you aren't interested, then you aren't and I'm ok with that but getting strung along for days sucks! I really thought I had a shot at this...

You definitely have the right perspective on things... BTW, you want to trade jobs?

Agree :)

Aha

I have a telephone interview today at 4pm, i had the video recording interview last week on friday. So far it seems like they are working rather fast on this side of the ocean.

Hey, I know you guys are bummed who didn't get it. However, keep your head up and keep trying. My sister started out as an AHA at $14/hr with Apple with no prior experience. She now makes 6 figures after only three years. She will retire from Apple making excellent pay. If you don't get it this time. Don't get bitter. Learn and try again. It's worth it.

This is not my first time going through the interview process. I learned a lot the first time. I am still determined. I apply everytime it opens up in my area. I don't take offense if they don't hire me. It's very competitive. I just keep trying.

:)

Hey everyone, Its nice to see that they are starting to make the May 6th hires, I am still waiting patiently... No news is good news right? (it is making me excited) to see all the positivity on here and because of you all, it makes me more excited and determined. Congrats to those who made the "cut" and I hope to be with you for the training in May. Those who didn't, keep trying, its bound to come. Thank you again for all the feedback, this forum helped and keeps helping me tremendously!
