Maybe because I can't afford it... hence, I'm trying to get a job. That is irrelevant. I've seen many people who don't like Apple products that work there. That's like saying because I've never ate a Big Mac, I shouldn't work at Mcdonald's. Not everyone is well off enough to afford a iPhone, Mac, iPad, etc.

A+

I once worked in a call center supporting Medicare. As far as I know, I don't receive Medicare. Maybe I had no business working there...

Did an interview through kelly services. Was told i will have to do a background check. So i'm assuming i got the job as long as it comes back clean. Hardly any tech questions were asked. It was more about customer service.

Start date is May 28th but i'm assuming ill probably be pushed back since i don't think everything will be done or i wont receive my things by then.

I had my interview today also I start may 28 I'm excited well I gotta do my on boarding paperwork but I'm excited it just sucks to have to work holidays

I am another who has no Apple background. I've been troubleshooting PC's for friends and such since I was in college in the early 90's. Never bought an i-Anything though. I just never felt inclined to spend two or three times as much money for a product that, at best, did what other products could do. I guess the iPhone was a bit different for a little while, but now it seems like every week there's a new Android phone doing more for less.

Whenever the conversation turned directly to Apple products during my interview, I just answered honestly. I have a general idea about iTunes and all the rest, but I've never used them, so that's what I said. I expressed confidence that I would learn what I needed to learn during the training process, and that my general experience in dealing with customers would be a strong suit. When they asked more general questions that could apply to PC or Android environments, I made sure to answer in a lot of detail.

No problem, as it turns out. It took a month after my background check came back clean, but I got the offer.

I told them flat out in the interview that I didn't know squat about Apple stuff nor was I an Apple fan boy and I still got hired (much to my chagrin :().

That being said, I still had 20+ years of IT experience behind me and knew far more about mail protocols and networking than the interviewers did.

EDIT: This is for full time only

Your only say in the process is possibly what kind of shift you would like, such as 5x8 (5 days x 8 hours a day) or a 4x10. I do not believe they offer split shifts (work 4 hours, off 4 hours, work 4 more hours) to new hires. They mean it when your availability had better be the full hours stated, and that is why they ask you about it during interviews. I know people from my class that got early morning shifts (7 am) and others who start at 11 am or later. You have zero say as far as what days you get off initially and are not allowed to trade with others coming out of training. Later on, after being on the phones for a while, you are able to bid on shifts and trade with others potentially.

Thanks for the info! I should have mentioned that I'll be part time which will be 3 four hour shifts and 1 eight hour shift. I will be fully available but was just wondering what some of the shift hours may be. Thanks again!

KellyConnect onboard e-mail?

I finished my KellyConnect interview today and was told I would get an e-mail containing an authorization for background check. I'm just curious how long this usually takes to get the e-mail? I know how long the background check takes but I don't know how long the onboard e-mail should take.

I believe the 8 hour shift is almost guaranteed to be a weekend day. The hours may be anytime during the day. I know some that are part time that work mornings and others that work evenings. They schedule based on needs and if they had people leave who had morning shifts, those are what they will fill and so on.

You are correct that the 8 hour shift will fall on a weekend. Thanks again!

Google is your friend

Ahhh! I got my first call from my recruiter. My first skype interview is wednesday. She said that she really liked me; however, I don't have any technical background... She said she wants me to brush up on my tech stuff before my interview on wednesday. Which has me pretty nervous because, reading through this thread, most people said they aren't very worried if you have a technical background because they train you and to focus on customer service. According to my recruiter, she says it's going to be a technical interview and I need to know more. I figured I knew enough. I know how to trouble shoot my own computer, phone, iPod, etc. so I thought I knew "enough" because of what I have read in this thread... Kinda lost here. any one have any suggestions on where, how, what to brush up on exactly before my interview? Tech terms go a long way, i don't want to be reading up on information that I wont necessarily be using so doing a google search for technical terminology will be a little broad.

Thanks!

No so sure I mention google during an interview with Apple. I think you might catch frostbite.

Just a friendly thought.

The whole process can be completed in two weeks including the interviews if need.

FedEx,fax, background check and such if they wanted.

That does not match my experience at all. However, I am part time.
During training, I was asked to submit shift bids. There were around 17 or 18 shifts…various days and times. We ranked them in order of our preference. Did a separate bid for weekdays, weekends, and the full time schedule you'd work if needed.

I actually got my first priority on all my schedules :)

Thanks for chiming in! I suppose if it works then it works and a I don't have to volunteer any information...

I'd get the pots line if you don't want to run line yourself.

I'd like to mention if cable goes down you'll lose both services.

Save the headache and run them. You have plenty of time.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I didn't think anyone got the chance to place shift bids until their first 90 day schedule was completed at the earliest.

Thanks for your input. I assume if your internet goes down but you still have phone that you still don't take calls?

If your cable goes out, and you cable provided phone chances are you'll lose both.

At least you'll have phone service. It maybe not matter a lot. Also is not the fastest at fixing issues. Pots lines are pretty rock solid and much quicker response time on repairs.

Good Luck,
Jed

Do you still take support calls if your internet service goes down but your phone isn't interrupted?

It will make you go crazy. Just fill it out check every so often online and see what you get! Even if it does take 2 weeks to complete.

That's all I got to say.. Thanks :)

Very relax and not stressed. Glad I got the job. I was just wanting someone to answer my question which I thank you for doing.

Are you currently CPU? How is the daily life as AHA? I'm excited to work in my pajamas hehe

I am Cpu the day to day is cool haven't had a day yet where there wasn't 5 mins between calls

----------

I'm going to get digital phone service through my cable provider and don't have a phone or coax jack in the room so was wondering if anyone has used telephone power line adapters? Thanks for any input!

I use powerline adapters no issues as of yet but cable providers have an emta meaning the phone line are attached to the modem if you have the modem placed in your office you wont have to worry about your lack of a built in jack

I'm speaking of telephone powerline adapters (aka "Wireless Phone Jacks" which is a dumb name because it's not wireless) vs. ethernet ones. I have no coax in the room to connect the modem either.

Did they email you or call you yesterday? I still haven't heard back. I had my first interview on Tuesday and I was told like you, that I should hear something by Friday.

they emailed me, have you heard back yet? i hope you get it. :)

----------

Tough break, pal - sorry to hear. Perhaps you might give it some time before reapplying the next. The only post I've seen detailing a successful reapply was from someone who waited a period of six months. That person got the gig, according to her post, anyway. Maybe a 90 day wait would do it, and in that time frame, of course, you will have ample time to prepare in every regard.

Meanwhile, there are other alternatives - none as good as this job in terms of pay/benefits etc, but all you need to do is a good search for telecommuting opportunities.

Hang in there! Something will break for you, I'm sure.

Well, thank you! from the time i started this search, I did get another WAH position doing what I have been doing for the past year. The benefits are decent and I like doing it. I am going to sit back and wait for a while. I was offered the Kelly position, but turned it down.

Oh well, I have gotten my second rejection letter. Hey I admit it, I am not an Apple junkie and don't say "awesome" all the time.

I have one more job application with the Fruit Company and then after 3 strikes, I will consider this idea "out" for good.
