Here is what blows my mind...Im 49 yrs old, have a degree in business and computers, have a HUGE amount of customer service AND tech experience and they send me a "thanks for playing email" but hire a 17 yr old with NO experience. hahahahahahaha ..I must not have said AWESOME enough. hahahahaha

Or maybe you just weren't the right fit. Can't speak for the whole profession, but nobody on my team was 17. In fact, if I recall correctly, our average age was mid 30's. We even had somebody in his 60's. Instead of blaming others, maybe you should reflect on why you weren't hired.
Just my 2 cents.
Just Thinking out loud here for a moment, I'm wondering how do applicants get picked for departments(ios, cpu, etc). When I applied, it didn't say a specific department just an general description of the work. is the placement based on your experience? or is it like a "box of chocolate" just never know what you are going to get?? lol..I will be in cpu and im excited about it, nothing against ios but It would be nerve reckoning hearing people baust about their iphones all day.....any opinions neg or positive are welcome...

Im pretty sure it's just what you get drafted into and when they get around to filling spots.. They are both considered tier 1 as far as I know. Plus you will hear just as many teens and college kids with problems with their Macs im sure. But i have years of tech so I wouldn't think it is based upon that.. I think it comes down to just filling slots.
iOS.
It's my class.
Who all starts June 10th?
These are handled by a group that takes care of wireless media including Apple TV. However, wireless on the Macs does fall on CPU.

Macbook Air Overheating
Hey guys,
My Macbook Air kept overheating. The fan was running nonstop. I tried watercooling it, and now it wont start. I think I may have been too slow/let it run overheated for too long and maybe?
Is there anything I can do to get it to start or am I out of luck? I knew I should have let sit in the sunny room without trying to cool it first.

It was in clamshell mode though with a plastic case, so I don't think the water hurt it.
Gee, I could of have a v8
It makes a great interview question.
Yae Right,
Jed

HOLY CRAP! I have my hiring manager interview next tuesday. I got 2 speeding tickets like more than a year ago. The state of Texas let me do drivers ed. I find out that I think the drivers ed was only for one ticket so I think they tried to issue a warrant for the other. I was like WTF! I was driving 60 in a 40mph, not like I was street racing or something. What should I do?
Sounds like you need to be, like, managing an IT department at a call center or something, man.
They seem to be less interested in experience and more interested in magnetic personalities. Which makes sense considering the job.
Also, that's unfair. I'm 24 and I rarely ever say "awesome" and I think everyone who legitimately uses the words "amped" "stoked" or "pumped" should be punched in the face.

Anyone know what size iMac they send? I need to know if the clearance between my desk surface and the shelving I have above and beside it is adequate or if I need to alter it.

I'm surprised you were interested in the job with all your experience just like I'm surprised AngryGerbil was. I imagine being declinded was a good thing otherwise you'd just end up being unhappy like him.
While I'm not particularly thrilled with the job, I'm kind of "geographically challenged" right now and I'd be facing a really long commute to get to a city that had a sizable infrastructure. So I'm more or less stuck with a telecommuting job for the time being and Apple does pay better than most work from home gigs and they do provide healthcare as well.
As I mentioned to someone in a PM, getting hired depends in part who you are but just as importantly, who is interviewing you. Had I gotten another interviewer I seriously doubt I would have been hired. I was fortunate(I guess) to get an interviewer that was closer to my age (old) and that also enjoyed my somewhat dry and offbeat humor.
Well said jaxx. Actually, after hearing some of the experiences from those who are already employed (you want to pull your hair out after 3 weeks, the commitment of working 1 eight hour shift per weekend and the experience heard from Angry Gerbile), I was beginning to have second thoughts about the position. What I posted was simply a way to make light of the situation and several board members jumped on it like flies on *****. The funny thing is, I was hired to work for Apple through Kelly Services just one day before I applied to Apple directly. I declined the job because as I continued my research, I found that working directly thru Apple, the pay was almost double of that working for Kelly Services. So yes, a lot has to do with who interviews you and what mood they are in that day, the time of day (are they sick of interviewing so they just dont pay much attention?),type of person they prefer, etc.Great point! The person interviewing you has a lot to do with whether or not you are hired. In my case, I could tell right off the bat that my second interviewer was a real "no nonsense" type of gal - a stickler. During the interview when I attempted to make light of the situation (the interview) to ease the obvious tension, I got nothing in return - NOTHING! Dead silence. Furthermore, when presented with a scenario type question, I tried to zero in on the exact issue to better craft my answer by asking a question. Her response in absolute seriousness: "You tell me." I've only posted here a few times, but maybe someone will remember my first post when I said "I new I didn't get the gig as soon as the second interview was over." This is why. It really sucks when you get a ball breaker for your interviewer. Compounding the issue was that I don't do any type of video conferencing and had to download Skype the night before. When checking my audio quality repeatedly, the recording played back very faintly each time. Therefore, I thought that I was going to have to compensate for the lack of audio quality during the interview by speaking loudly. Normally soft spoken, I was probably sounding a bit like Mr T during the interview. And yes, I asked her right off the bat if she could hear me okay to which she responded "Excuse me?" So my voice tone was loud and overbearing all through the interview. It really, really, really sucked - recorded the interview and could not listen the whole way through - painful to hear. And THIS is what blew the opportunity for me.
Perhaps you all could allow the declines a little room to vent. Its very disappointing when you don't get the gig. For those of you who did get it, don't count your chickens before they're hatched. After going live, you'll be muting your phone during calls to scream your heads off for a few seconds I am certain. Don't be so brazen to think that you got it just because you're so great - you may have gotten it just because you're so "malleable."
Fact of the matter? Many of you won't last beyond six months. Just telling it as it is.

Oh, and this is funny...the person who interviewed me.......her dog was barking the whole time and her office was her bedroom complete with headboard, dressers and clothes on the floor. hahahahaha
