Long time lurker here.

First, I just want to thank all the helpful people on this forum for the plethora of useful and insightful information. You guys are great to share your experiences!

Second, I just want to say to anyone that may be nervous or worried about their chances, if I can get this job I think anyone can.

I'm a 31 year old with a CS degree. I'm also a woman. I have years of IT management and customer service experience. But because I was recently in a car accident, now I can't walk and cannot therefore do an IT job. So this job was my last hope, to be honest. And I just got my offer call. My brother is 24 with no technical background but a strong background in customer service. They hired him as well.

The third person I spoke to, the hiring manager, he told me that extensive experience isn't necessary. Nor does it disqualify you. As long as you can demonstrate an aptitude for basic tech paired with excellent customer service skills and a great personality, you're good to go. It doesn't come down to someone being "malleable" as the more bitter among us would say. It comes down to interviewing well. So focus on that, guys.

Again, thanks to everyone. Your timelines and experiences and tips helped so much.

See some of you June the 10th!

Also, as a point, they only checked my work history, my criminal history, and whether or not I was in any criminal database. They never checked my education history or my references. Hm.

I'm in the same class as you, Brandon! I was in the paperwork conference call yesterday as well. Neat.

I asked two questions.. PM me your real name if you want :)

----------

I just happen to receive the request for my background check right after my interview but this isn't always the case for everyone. If you use the "search this thread" function for "timeline" it should yield a lot of results with different people's experience. I hope you get it!

----------

What kind of calls/emails will you be receiving?

Emails from my manger and various personnel at apple. Then my manger will give me a call and explain anything (I guess?) hopefully this all takes place in a week& 1/2:)

Sorry to hear about the accident and I wish you well. As you're probably aware, AHA does not pay as well as most IT jobs but if you spent anytime researching telecommuting jobs then you know that most pay well below what Apple does. It sounds as if the healthcare coverage may help you out as well.

Prior experience can be both a blessing and a curse depending on the type of calls you get and to some degree whether you're in iOS or CPU. But experience does not play a roll at all in getting hired, interviewing well is the key.

I'm sure you and your brother will do just fine and hopefully you can reach a point with Apple where you can take advantage of your CS degree. You have to put in a year before changing from one job to another but I just hit 8 months and it's gone by pretty quickly... And as most people in this thread know, I'm not particularly fond of doing AHA

Ciao for now... see you on the front lines!

But you continue on being a masochist, ha!

I guess I'll have to for a little while I guess. No matter how much I dislike a job I won't walk from it unless I'm walking directly into another job. I've come close to quitting a couple of times but my work ethic prevents it.

Im so confused

So i went through kelly services. Got 1 interview, she said i will be moving to the next step, which is filling out forms on the onboarding kelly services site. I put in all my info and submitted it. I was supposed to get a call within 2 days to set up a time to go to the Kelly branch to fill out more paperwork. But instead 2 days later i got an email from them saying i needed to respond with 7 years work history. I left that page on the form blank for a reason.. I have no experience. I responded saying this. Its been 2 business days since i responded. No call. No email. I tried to log back onto the site to see maybe if it showed the status, and it says "this account has been disabled".

:/ I'm not sure what to do now. My recruiter told me i need to fill out my info online then i will get a call regarding my background check. Am i worrying for nothing?

I had my third interview yesterday. I was very prepared for it, and thought I did very well. I'm starting to get worried that I haven't received my BGC email yet...

So I assume you've been actively pursuing other jobs?

I have but as I've mentioned a few times I'm stuck in a somewhat rural area for the time being and don't want to do a lengthy commute.

Why the interest? My employment status doesn't affect you in the least bit.

Hope they get in touch with me!

I hope I hear back from apple... I bet if I knew someone who already worked there I'd probably a response faster.

I have like, 5+ years of customer service and support in the com industry and like 7 computers, so I imagine the interview would be no problem.

Congrats to everyone who got in!
