I did scan through the thread to look at questions others were asked - some were quite old though, thought maybe some of the newer candidates might have different info now. I put in for AHA. I have years of both Mac tech support and customer service experience, and some Windows as well. Glad to hear the 100 mile radius thing does not seem to be an issue. I'm sort of in the boonies, but less than an hour to a big city.

If it's for an AHA position they seem to be focused more on personality rather than technical acumen. This is a tier 1 support job, you won't be writing bash scripts with bbedit, you'll just need to know basic troubleshooting steps. They will probably ask some questions about basic wireless, wifi and e-mail troubleshooting. If you have any experience troubleshooting Macs then it will be a cake walk... unless you have a personality that just happens to rub people the wrong way. And it doesn't sound like you do. Even still, I'm a 50 year old curmudgeon that generally dislikes most humans and I got hired.

LOL
"dislikes most humans". that's funny. Sounds like me though. The older I get, the less I like interacting with people face to face (and almost in general). (Online classes, online job training and working, shopping, etc). But online and over the phone is a lot easier for me and I got great Customer service skills. lol

The operative word here is "most". I'm human and still enjoy being around people... as long as they are reasonably intelligent and have a sense humor I don't mind at all. Whatever customer service skills I have, I didn't get from being on the phone and using IRC clients, I got them from working face to face with people in all 50 states and living abroad in various countries SE Asia. I feel sorry for the kids that know nothing of the world and humanity in general other than what they glean from the internet and that black hole of narcissism AKA Facebook.

True. I feel that the Internet and tv raise many children and they are definitely a product of that. And the social skills are deteriorating. But none of my customer service skills come from Internet or jobs at all. It's all a part of who I am.

"It's all a part of who I am." - This is true and despite the fact that they are called "customer service skills", it's not a skill set that can be learned like archery or plumbing. Sure, you can learn how to handle phone calls or how to smile and say "have a nice day" but a large part of customer service is who you are, not what you know.

AHA job offer

Hi ya'll. I've been following this thread, lots of useful info.

Question for the group: Has anyone who completed their final (3rd) interview the week of Aug. 6th received a call back with a job offer? I believe Hire Right submitted the background checks to Apple on or around 8/15 for this group.

I noticed some folks got the call last Thursday 8/16 for the Sept. 10th training. I'm wondering if Apple is done hiring for that position/training or if there will be a second wave of calls maybe this week for the folks that interviewed in August. Obviously no way to know for sure but I'm curious since it 't appears as though those who are vocal on this thread that got the job offer had finished their interview process by the end of July.

Is the link to complete an online application provided prior to your final interview? I ask because I received a link to schedule 3rd interview, but no link to application. Wondering if it's still early. Interview is Monday (20th).

Completed my 3rd and final interview today via FaceTime. 30 minutes later received an invite to complete an online application.

So For everybody that got their offer call last Thursday, did you receive you'd offer email yet? I don't remember the wait time on that.

I started the background check process on 8/10. I think everyone that was called Thursday started their background check around 7/30, 7/31 so based on that I would assume we will
calls this week.

I submitted mine August 7th and when I called hire right today they said my background check was sent to apple on the 15th as well. I'm going to assume based off the last group that we should be getting notification this week.

I am going to remain optimistic until I get the rejection email. Most reported getting calls about 15-16 days after starting the background check. For me that would be end of the week which seems appropriate.

Job offer arrived

I got the actual job offer e-mail today, it just requires a reply with "I Accept" in the body of the mail so there's no need to fax anything back.

Hi all!! Congrats to those of you who have gotten your offer calls/emails!! This is the most dreaded awful wait ever, however I have been doing lots to keep busy. I am just curious to all of the recent new hires if you were given a training schedule and if it is a set schedule for the entire training? Also did your offer letter include your actual schedule after training? Has anyone else been given a training start date of 9/17?

Update:

So, I see some people got an offer e-mail (technically the 2nd offer; after initial job offer via phone call) and I just wanted to share that if you haven't received it yet, I wouldn't worry too much.

My recruiter just called me to tell me that they are calling a lot of people back because there was a compensation change (more $ than expected) and they wanted to let everyone know personally, which I thought was very nice.

So he told me to keep an eye out for my e-mail either late today, or tomorrow. :D

I submitted my hireright info on 8/13 so I probably did not get sent in with the 8/15 group. I also interviewed for the 9/10 class. Hopefully hear something next week!

I didn't get a call but that was one of the main things I noticed about the offer letter attachment. The pay was increased from what I was told last Thursday when they called. So I'm excited about that little push. Every penny counts. Lol

----------

Just got my email with the acceptance about 15min ago. Had to reply back with "I Accept"

:)

I accepted and received an email shortly after to confirm that my paperwork would be here tomorrow. And then I also selected the Wednesday morning new hire paperwork session to attend.

Thanks. Nope my offer letter didn't include Amy information about the training or work scheduld. It just included a persons name that I would report to for training and my pay and position details. My start date is the 10th. I believe it said that the details would be included in the forms that I receive tomorrow.

Yes I started my big check process on the 2nd and verified some info on the 3rd and when I contacted them on the 10th they said they'd completed everything. So 6 days later I got the call. I'm assuming they do them in groups. Or do it seems.
