Only partly right. You do not just determine support and transfer. A wealth of support information is given to you and very comprehensive troubleshooting takes place at Tier 1. You don't have to be an expert at troubleshooting, you just have to be an expert at locating the information that applies to the customer's issue.

Secondly, your primary job is to make the customer happy. You can even inadvertently give the customer incorrect information and still be good as long as the customer is happy and you tried. This job is like no other when it comes to satisfaction priority.

An "operator" you're not.

No need for the snippy 'An "operator" you're not.' comment, especially when you didn't take the time to see that they were speaking of a different position other than the At-Home advisor. We are all here for the same purpose of doing more research and supporting each other...... Without being too much of a jerk myself, I'll just stop at the comment was not necessary.

Whoa. Angry Gerbil Jr. in the making.

Any Tips on taking notes? Are the questions multiple choice? I was thinking of going as far as recording the sessions to take the best notes possible. I stink at tests. But its "open book" not sure what you have to read off of any advice would be awesome!

Thank you

Pro Tip for when you new guys get into training:

PAY ATTENTION. Don't chat with your newfound buddies in Team Chat or in the training session chat. First, your trainers will see that and so will your manager and that makes you look bad. And second, you will not gain the knowledge you need to because you're busy talking to your teammates about what you had for dinner last night. And if you find yourself being sucked into a clique among the team, get out. This isn't high school even though some of the people you may work with seem to perpetually live in high school.

Take good notes about each subject you cover with the instructors and actually read the lessons you go over yourself. The information you gain is invaluable even if you're a life-long Apple fanboy/girl. There are things about these products and the tech that you do not know about. Guaranteed. Pay extra special attention to when you go over soft skills and how to speak to customers. It's not what you may think. Which explains why all the people with so much tech experience and customer service experience are not hired.

Basically, be a professional. And always participate when asked to. And you will be fine.

And don't fret. There's no reason to be nervous. It's an amazing training experience. You will be prepared to do the job by the time you get out of nesting. And you're never truly on your own.

OK I have a question for the Kelly people I now know based on what some one said to me in here that it is a permanent job but, my question is I know kelly has an contract with apple when the contract is up or if apple is done with kelly later on what happens to us agents ? Do we loose the job or does apple keep us? Does anyone know what would happen?

(**apple does very little hiring based on merit or experience for these positions**)

Its been a awhile since I've posted on here, but I thought I'd pass on some information and shed some LIGHT here.

(**APPLE DOES VERY LITTLE HIRING BASED ON MERIT OR EXPERIENCE FOR THESE POSITIONS**)

I was also sent the official application after my first interview. Most likely that means your initial call went well. Unfortunately, I was then turned down for the job after having roughly 10 years of experience, certifications and a proven work history of being promoted to a level two tech for 3 different companies. I have great interpersonal skills and that carries over to my customer service skills.

I've done everything from training, mentoring and even monitoring to improve call center metrics and customer retention but the only thing the Apple recruiter wanted to ask me was very simple minded questions like, "what would I say if a customer dropped their laptop." It is absolutely clear, Apple recruiters do not hire the best people available for these positions. How and why can I say that? Because the recruiters at Apple do very little hiring based on merit or experience or little else of actual intelligent or fairness. Recruiters themselves frequently tell people being interviewed to go and study questions and to call back. The fact that this forum even exits and Apple has done nothing to change their hiring process is just absolute tomfoolery and proves my point completely, Apple does not care about hiring the best available people for these positions.

I can not stress this enough, if you want the job, you have to belittle yourself for Apple, play this very unintelligent game, come on here and study every single available question. Then repeatedly tell the recruiter how you will apologize to the customer over and over, (its okay if you sound like an idiot doing it) because once clearly isn't enough and beyond that, for the most part, nothing else matters.

I'm not even old, I'm in my early 30s and dealing with companies that play these mindless games is why I quit a well paying job 5 years ago. Yep, for the past 5 years I ran my own business, which I sold a year ago. Promised myself I'd never come back to the corporate life...but I lost a TON of money with a few other investors in what was a very sophisticated investment scheme, so I found myself in this situation, Applying to Apple for a job that pays $30,000, when my last tax return shows I made $192,000. Figured it would be great to work out of my home office and "build a long term career with Apple." My exact words to the recruiter and I meant it.

Anyway, a week later I applied with another company, was actually (evaluated) and given 3 hours of actual TESTS. Then two days later was told by said company that they were more then happy to have be join their team. (NO GAMES) Is that company good as Apple? No... But at least they know how to hire people properly. Doesn't Apple want people who actually think? Maybe not for this position...

I wrote this message for the qualified people who will apply, be turned down and passed up for less qualified people. Don't worry about it, its not you, its just them. Plenty of other people here and elsewhere with the exact same experience.

So far here is my time line

7/15 I applied for another apple corporate position
7/18 Got an interested email for AHA position saying I grabbed there attention for AHA and to reply if I would like to be considered for the position
7/18 Replied and got a call an hour later stating the job, pay, benefits and then asked me a few IT questions. Immediately asked me to set up 2nd interview in a few days, said to complete official application right after
7/18 Did the official application within 30 minutes

I have not seen anyone else get the official application email right after the first call, is that good? Nervous for my second interview!!

Kelly

I was in a similar spot I was an IC for a company that had a contract with Geek Squad and other partners GS being the big money maker.

July Geeksquad decided to take everything in house and end the contract.
About 3,000 techs are now looking for jobs including myself. Gonna be going from making 5-6K a month to maybe 2K. It was awesome it was 24/7 you could choose your own hours work as little or as much as you wanted.

To answer your question, Kelly I'm sure has more contract with other companies they might move or you might need to look for a job. Always have a backup plan!!:D

Clive, these are some seriously sour grapes, man. If you don't care, then why are you still following this? Get over it enjoy your new job and stop feeling like you have to belittle the people who did get this job.

Seriously. How many times does it need to be said that this job is NOT about technical knowledge and experience, and more about maintaining a relationship with Apple's customers? Sour grapes indeed.

No need for the "snippy" retort to my "snippy" comment. You need to take your own advice, especially considering the fact that I may have seen that I was wrong.

The CD's are new. If all they do is place connections, that's cool too.

I just got declined for a different job and have 2nd interview monday. Im worried about my past employment they wont be able to verify it due to they closed the business down and found jobs.

Should I tell them about it? Im discouraged because Ive been declined one job.
What would you say the success rate is for getting a job with Apple?
Percentage wise...

Thank you:apple:

Not 100% sure on whether HireRight would bother asking for other forms of proof--but there are other ways to verify you worked there (taxes and stuff). I wouldn't worry so much about that. And, as stated, they do ask about if it's still in business. Don't get discouraged!

I can see why they wouldn't hire you just based on your attitude in this post. You're self-righteous. Who are you to say you're more deserving than anyone else for a job? Obviously, you're bitter and still nursing that rejection wound. Have fun at your new job.
