I've taken that exact same test ... took me almost 4 hours though. I don't want anyone to cheat but I've included a screenshot from the final:

Notes

I understand from reading past posts that Apple gives tests each week. (4) total.
I stink at taking notes anyone have any recommendations on taking notes during the class and what they mean by open book?

Any advice is appreciated

Thank you

Pay attention during the training. There are so many resources available to you I can't list them all. Open book really means open everything. You can utilize screen shots, training source materials, the apple support website, even google if you need to...which you probably won't.

The main thing is to take your time and understand the questions thoroughly.

Don't sweat it. Pay attention and take your time. Win.

:D

Any of you current employees mind PMing me? Got a question I'd rather not ask publicly. I'll edit this when I get a PM.

EDIT.

Empathy, eh?

So I just called Apple Care three times to speak with three different AHAs and presented each of them with the same fictitious scenario using the exact same words each time just because I could (yes, go ahead - ridicule me, beat me, crucify me).

"Whoa dude (or Sweets), I was just outside on the patio with my iPad when I tripped over one of the chairs and the iPad flew out my hand and landed on the patio - now it won't turn on or anything."

The three responses I got:

"Oh no - can I have your serial number?"
"Awwww - can I have your serial number?"
"Wow! Let me get your serial number."

Of course, I wouldn't prolong the proverbial jerking of the chain (in AG parlance), so right after each gave their responses I pushed some buttons on the phone to simulate a phone issue and hung up.

Seriously, does this actually suffice as the end all, be all EMPATHY which has been touted as being as precious as the Holy Grail on this forum? No, seriously. When one is actually doing the job after having interviewed, trained, and nested - is this acceptable? I must admit that I was surprised.

Look, please don't waste my time asking questions like that. And why you feel like you couldn't ask that question in public is beyond me. There's multiple insurance plans. Too many variables to answer that. Sorry.
Lol! Well I'm sorry to have wasted so much of your valuable time!

I ask because I am a student and have multiple, private other reasons for wanting to know what the health insurance situation is like for Apple employees. I figured an employee might be able to shed light for me, even if only giving their own experience with a "this stuff varies" disclaimer. I didn't want to ask in public in case it was information that employees are asked not to disclose, and because it doesn't really have a whole lot to do with the job itself / the hiring process for it.

No need to be a prick about it, man. If your time is so valuable, I don't see why you even bothered to PM me, reply to my question condescendingly, and then take the time to post it here (for some reason). A simple "don't know, it varies" would have sufficed.

EDIT: Oh, cool. MacRumors has an ignore list function. Utilizing that, I guess.

"Matched" empathy. Besides that, there's not really too much to say in that scenario, and it's not really a bar to set any advisor to. Had that really happened what more could you say that wouldn't make the customer feel worse?

Did they counter with "we'll do everything we can to get that resolved for you?"

QUICK QUESTION- when You get your paperwork and You have go to the apple store to verify your documents, does your driver license HAVE to be of the same state and show the same address that my home office will be? Has anyone experienced this with them yet? i still have other ways to verify my address in compliment to my DL

Thank you

It doesn't need to be an Apple store....you just need to get your I-9 verified at a bank, notary, etc....I went to my town hall.

Empathy may be the holy grail when you're going through the hiring process but it's a curse after you're hired. I swear to God I hope I never see the word again after I leave this job, I see it so much in Apple email that's it's become hackneyed. I don't often employ empathy myself, I use other methods like establishing some type of connection with the customer. I had a call the other day with a woman that was really mad about a movie that didn't download in iTunes. I didn't use empathy much at all but turned around the call simply because we both watched some of the same shows in the 60's. The calls sometimes take a few minutes longer but it's usually worth it.

My preferred call flow typically starts by building rapport with the customer and not always saying,"I understand your frustration." or "I'm sorry your son racked up $300 worth of subway surfer charges." . The empathy thing just sounds too fake coming from me so I don't use it very often. I get reminded of that by my manager all the time so I'd suggest that new people actually try to use the recommended empathy tactics that are covered in training.

Has anyone who submitted their new hire paperwork for the 8/5 class gotten any kind of confirmation that Apple has received it? Apple should have received my paperwork a week ago, but I haven't heard anything back yet

call HR and ask them. the number should be in the packet you received--on the first page on the left side of the folder--where it's talking about the I-9.
