You're welcome! Any time! Interestingly enough, I'm reading an article about a study that found direct correlation between those who prefer immediate vs. delayed gratification and level of intelligence. I bet you know where I'm going with this. Have a great night!

First of all, there's no exact measure of intelligence (IQ tests are bunk). Secondly, if delayed gratification is in fact indicative of intelligence, how do you explain Wall Street?

Well, hello, AG. I figured it was only a matter of time before you pounced on one of my posts. I wasn't talking about IQ tests. My career, thus far, has been in behavioral psychology---so, I'm talking about achievement over life span, educational/career achievement. Very interesting study done through Stanford--The Stanford Marshmallow Experiment. Positive correlation between children who consistently chose delayed rewards and overall achievement/academic success. Obviously, limitations to any study--but I was mostly just making a dig at the dude who can't wait a few days to open a box.

I more or less knew where you were coming from but there's a lot of misconceptions about what "intelligence" really is. I personally believe that there are various types of IQ's an individual can have, ranging from social to mathematical/logical. Successful people tend to have pretty high emotional and social IQ's and people that excel in specific areas e.g. programmers have high mathematical IQ's. Mozart was off the chart in terms of musical IQ but died a pauper... his "personal" IQ or self awareness was a tad low.

I don't know much about this stuff, I majored in Philosophy not Psych. I'm merely going by what I've observed and read over the course of 50 years.

In any case, I opened the box and set up the Mac 3 days ahead of time but I've also passed a Mensa test... go figure. I think delayed gratification is more likely aligned with overall emotional health more than it is innate intelligence. There is also a cultural element as well. Many groups of Asians, for example, tend to look at returns in terms of decades while Americans generally don't look beyond the next quarter... if even that.

Well, congratulations, pal. Role play can be tough when you don't know exactly what the other party is looking for during the process. From past experience, I'd say as long as you:

1) Restated the issue
2) Advised the steps you'd be taking
3) Asked probing questions
4) EXPRESSED UNDILUTED EMPATHY

Then you're probably a winner. In what area do you think you could have done better? Anyway, congratulations again.

At this point its a toss in the air she did say I would receive an email in 1 to 3 weeks hopefully thats a good thing. You can study as much as you want but nothing can prepare you for the 3rd interview. From what Ive read I should hear something tomorrow or monday. Praying

I would open the box and set up the computer early if I were given the chance again. The way they set it up is dumb. Your start time is a half hour early on the first day, ostensibly so you can get paid for setting up the computer. Then you're told to be signed in and ready to go by the earlier start time, meaning you would have to do so on a different machine. Then, at some point during the shift, they start talking about clicking this or that on your Mac. It's dumb. If you set up the computer early, but don't turn it on until you're supposed to start, there's no way for anybody to know and your first day will go more smoothly.

I had a call where a customer heard my dog barking in the background. He actually said is that a dog?!? I said yeah there is a guy walking his dog outside of my office window. Problem solved. As long as its not constant it was never brought to my attention. But I would say if its constant then it's a problem :)

You should have heard this place leading up to the 4th of July. Sounded like Baghdad at the beginning of Desert Storm in '91. I'd make a joke about it whenever the mortars started going off and then get back to work. Nobody seemed to care.

LOLOL I just died laughing at that!! my dog nor my daughter are consistently loud but typically you can't here them if I'm in my room and on my cell phone. Just wondered if apple phones picked up like ppl laughing at the tv in the room next door LOL. I start August 12 putting in my two weeks at my other job tomorrow. I'm nervous about these tests! Also how true is the 1 weekend day off? Is apple a cut throat sell it or else company or are the managers good nice ppl?

Dont stress over the tests, they are all over note and are about 20-25 questions and they give you an hour and a half to complete it. (I was told by my recruiter)

I assume the test is not to make sure you memorize the stuff, but to know where to look when you in fact dont know the answer to a question and know how to utilize your resources for solutions.

Hi

I have a question about training. How long does it usually lasts and what are the hours for training.

It seems like everyone who applies gets the job on here.
I feel I did really bad in my 3rd interview. I was too technical.
Between being nervous and not good at roll playing. I hope the interviewer understands I am better in real situations.
Anyone else feel like I do? The interview was about 1 hour long good or bad? I hope see seen something she likes in me to get me the job.

Any opinions thought welcome
Thanks everyone for the help
