I guess so to speak my management experience means nothing here. Sucks starting from the bottom. But I'm sure there's more opportunity than any big box retail shop can offer

Could be worse... no way is it as bad as what some of those Verizon and AT&T techs go through.

Assuming I move up to Tier 2 in the next week or so then at least I'll have tougher cases to work on since the penny ante stuff is handled at Tier 1. I would still rather be in the CPU queue though... I still have zero interest in iOS.

AHA makes it to Tech Crunch

Interesting read... pretty accurate although the stated wages look like KellyConnect, not Apple's per hour rate.

So I was told that I would be Chair 1 CPU. Does that mean Tier 1? How does the tier system work etc?

That has been my life for the past 48 months and for 60 months prior to that I was at circuit city... Feel my pain?

If you spent 5 years at circuit city and 4 years at Best Buy I'm afraid that's on you. After that much time you should have been able to springboard to something better... unless of course the only 2 buildings within 100 miles were a circuit city and a best buy.

for those of you that have accepted; when did you get the next email or notification that the paperwork had been sent?

I accepted Friday at 3 and have gotten nothing since the accept/decline email that was sent out Wednesday

My recruiter called me Friday and asked if I accept the position and I said yes and then she told me they would send a acceptance email that could take up to a week. May take up to a week to get a email or notification on the paperwork. She told me they would send paperwork then immediately ship my iMac after they got that.

I'm afraid once you're in the retail game It's hard as hell to get out. What sucks about retail the worst even beyond pressure is management experience in one shop means zero in another. And the experience in general means NOTHING. Which makes it harder to get out. Oh well I'm out now. Jus cant fail these apple tests. :/

I understand exactly how that is. I worked for Geek Squad for close to 5 years. I finally got out and now work for Charter which is a cable company. I see these people who have been here for years and the work is so physically demanding and little to no pay. My schedule is 8-5 which is the only thing I am really letting go from this job but working for Apple is a better career move and I am looking to enjoy working for them and moving up the ladder. A big box store and cable company were both not my cup of tea.

Yea I accepted over the phone about a month ago now. Took about 2 weeks for my offer letter and now I been waiting and I see some people in the same august 26 class did a paperwork session already. Feels good to know I am not the only one but before we know it will be August 26. I just hope they ain't going be contacting people for paperwork sessions like a week before starting. I can say one thing about this. Whatever time they tell you, add another week or so to it and that will be when you hear from them. I just wanted make sure there wasn't anybody who accepted a offer and never heard from apple again by getting lost in the sauce or something.

I would honestly contact your recruiter via it's been two weeks. I know everyone situation varies, but my recruiter told me if I did not receive a paper work session email within a week, to call her back. After my acceptance email, I received my paper work session email 3 days later. I'm also in the 8/26 class as well!!

Agreed to the max!!!Pay attention in training because although the test are open notes and source, people do fail them. And honestly Soft Skills is one of the Very important attributes when working with Apple :apple::apple:

Pro Tip for when you new guys get into training:

PAY ATTENTION. Don't chat with your newfound buddies in Team Chat or in the training session chat. First, your trainers will see that and so will your manager and that makes you look bad. And second, you will not gain the knowledge you need to because you're busy talking to your teammates about what you had for dinner last night. And if you find yourself being sucked into a clique among the team, get out. This isn't high school even though some of the people you may work with seem to perpetually live in high school.

Take good notes about each subject you cover with the instructors and actually read the lessons you go over yourself. The information you gain is invaluable even if you're a life-long Apple fanboy/girl. There are things about these products and the tech that you do not know about. Guaranteed. Pay extra special attention to when you go over soft skills and how to speak to customers. It's not what you may think. Which explains why all the people with so much tech experience and customer service experience are not hired.

Basically, be a professional. And always participate when asked to. And you will be fine.

And don't fret. There's no reason to be nervous. It's an amazing training experience. You will be prepared to do the job by the time you get out of nesting. And you're never truly on your own.
