Nice timeline...did Apple tell you that your background check was complete? I did the HireRight paperwork, but have't heard anything back. Did you ever email your recruiter?

If you keep in email contact with your recruiter the back ground check will go a lot faster. I got my hireright on July 22nd and emailed recruiter on July 25th and she called me the morning of the 26th with the offer. It also depends a lot on your previous employment history and when and how they get ahold of past jobs. It will vary per person but just keep in contact with your recruiter and show them you want the job.

You can log into hireright where you submitted your bgc, using the email you got from hireright ,using the credentials you created, to check the status of you bgc.

Hmmmmm even though it was for a lot more money, it didn't take me a split second to say Thanks but no thanks, I have accepted another job offer. I understand what I'm getting into here and I think I really will like it.

For your sake, I hope you're right. Holy jeez. "A lot more money" would be a no-brainer for me. Hell, at this point I'm keeping an eye out for anything paying comparable money, but I guess we all have our own preferences.

Eight hours of daily stupidity, followed up by a less than stellar system of measuring how I handle that stupidity, have left me unimpressed. Perhaps if I had started with the optimism and enthusiasm that some of you display, my take may have been different. As it is, I started out skeptical and I've only grown more skeptical. People with a more positive/accommodative outlook than mine seem to like the job though.

Since I always use my laptop...

Assuming it's a Windows laptop, it might be handy to have that thing hanging around while you're working. iTunes for Windows is a buggy piece of crap, and we support it as a product, so it's pretty handy to be able to follow along with the customers while you try to figure out how to get their phones to sync. We can do screen sharing sessions as necessary, but for the little menu/setting stuff, I prefer to look at my laptop and talk the customer through the process.

ME!! Lol. When did you fill out your Hireright info?

----------

So I filled out my HireRight info about 4 days ago, HireRight said the report was complete..so now what comes next? I was told I would be starting on the 9th of September, with a 5 week training period. :)

I got my Hireright on the 26th and submitted it, got that confirmation e-mail that it's complete and now I'm waiting. I assume I'll get another Hireright saying everything checked out and then one halcyon future day a call will come in to tell me I've actually got the job.

I could not have said it better than that. I too, started off on the skeptical side and it's only gotten worse. There is no way I could have gone into this thing being more optimistic or enthusiastic... that's not who I am.

And for those of you that are just now getting hired and are giddy with excitement... we'll see how many of you are still standing after a few months of taking call after call after call from customers, half of whom can be dumb as a bag of hammers when it comes to technology.

You have quite a knack for prose Mr. Hibernian, maybe you should try your hand at blogging.

You can call earlier (I called 15 minutes early) but you will just be put on hold and listen to hold music until the host joins. Then everyone will be told to put there phone on mute.

Thank you so much for this post as I do have a windows laptop and definatly now will keep it. I decided long ago, way before this job, that my next laptop would be a MacBook. I'm just waiting for my employee discount to purchase one ;) Too bad I'm not starting until the 12th as our state is having a 2 day tax free holiday for back to school today and tomorrow. :( As I was rearranging my office yesterday I had thought about giving my Windows laptop to my Grandson, but now it makes complete sense to keep it. Thank you as I would have regretted not having it here. Have a great day!

Yeah was pretty upset to learn we cant use our EPP+ discount (The $500 off a Mac or $250 off iPad or unlocked iPhone) until 90 days after employment and can only use it once every three years but it is so worth the wait to save that kind of money.

For those of you going to iOS, if have windows machines... keep them. I have a windows 7 box with a VM install of win 8 and I use it all the time during work. Some of the most difficult calls you will encounter are going to be iTunes windows installs... it's a match made in hell.

Hey, like many others I've been reading through the thread and thought I'd join. I agree with you AG. I did cancellations for AT&T and that was a hellish nightmare. My class started with 30+ people. We only made it to nesting with about 22, and out of my class there were only 10 of us left coming out of nesting. I have a better feeling about this position though. See some of you at the paperwork session today!

I'll never be able to wait 90 days, so I'm figuring as soon as I am eligible for my 25% employee discount (hopefully day 1), I'm off to buy a MacBook Pro. I've wanted one for a while and after borrowing my friends daughters MacBook Pro for a few weeks to get some hands on I am more anxious to get one than ever. I'll use the EPP+ $500/$250 discount down the road on either a new iMac, iPad or iPhone. Yep decisions, decisions..... :D

That is awesome! My first hands on with a Macbook Pro was my previous job as a webdesign and site admin, they bought me a Macbook Pro and my first impression was just WOW! I could not believe how smooth the interface was and how fluid everything felt. Also the trackpad gestures made things even easier! Sadly, when I left the position for this AHA i had to turn it in and use my old Windows laptop again, took me a while to ween myself off the mousepad gestures as I was no longer using a mac lol

I know that, in my group at least, the true believers ('Apple can do no wrong' types) seem to enjoy the job quite a bit. They're also mostly young, which affords them an optimism and naïveté that I haven't possessed for several decades now. By the time I'm your age, I can only imagine what a burst of sunshine I'll be.

I used to write quite a bit, back when life was interesting and I had things to say. If life had remained interesting, it's unlikely that I would have wound up doing AHA work for a living. Alas, I made a rather impressive series of bad decisions that led me to the paradise of phone calls, iOS, and Apple ID. A blog about the phone calls might be amusing, but the aforementioned bad decisions have left my résumé looking a little shaky so I need to stay employed until I can find something better.
