Hello everyone. I am trying to make an appointment to get my I-9 and Identity verification at an Apple Store. I have tried to make the appointment online but there are none available. I tried to call but no person answers and the I am instructed to go to the website. Do I make a one-to-one, business, appointment? Do I just go there?
Definitely make an appointment. When I call my store, I get the automated message asking me why I am calling (and telling me it can understand full sentences). I just said "I need to speak to a manager." He picked up, we set up a time, and I got it done. If you can't get a hold of a manager, go to the store and ask to set up an appointment.

Odds are, you won't be seen OR you'll have to wait a long time if you don't make an appointment. And it's just a matter of courtesy, as they're very busy people.

I have my paperwork session coming soon, can it be done over a cellphone or does it have to be a landline? Because obviously I haven't set up my office yet

Cellphones are fine. They mute everyone out to cut down on interference and you can unmute if you want to ask a question. So, you can be doing whatever you want--I was mostly rolling my eyes at the number of ridiculous questions people were asking. Ha!

Does working most nights ruin family life? I would assume working at home it wouldn't be AS bad as working nights at best buy.

Couldn't tell you... I'm single, no kids or GF and haven't gone out at night for many, many years. You might try asking an AHA that actually has a life.

No problem! Also check out your I-9 instructions sheet. It lists examples of a few other places you can go if an Apple store can't see you in time.

I just spoke with someone and they got my name and number and told me that they'd call back. I truly thank you so very much!

If you're on the phones, just because you're at home doesn't mean you're available. It's not very professional to put a customer on hold because your daughter needs a band-aid, or the dog barfed on the floor. You get 15 minute breaks where you can check in with your family, but otherwise you're working, just like any other job :)

Not at all, but I appreciate the feedback :)

I have been in the call center business since 98. I am used to this, this is what I do best. This is my first chance with a company that WILL actually allow people to move up. While I know it will be a while before anything happens, I like to know things in advance if I can.

A coworker of mine started T1 in May this year and he already got into Chat support. While that would also be enjoyable, my plan is to stay here and climb. I fully (and realistically) expect to remain in T1 for quite some time, but I like to know what is potentially ahead :)

No matter what your background, put in a month or 2 and then start asking questions about the road ahead. Time and again I hear people saying,"I'm gonna have a career with Apple." or "I'm gonna love this job cuz I'm a customer service guru." Blah, blah, blah. Then they find out that the AHA world is NOT in fact filled with unicorns that fart rainbows and they leave. There's a reason that turnover is outrageously high... the job can get to you after a while. The only reason I don't get stressed out is that I could really give a crap about my stats or if I get fired or not.

NO UNICORNS THAT FART RAINBOWS??? That's it. I quit.

AG--you're my hero. :p

I'm kind of looking for a reason to become a recluse. Blaming it on my new job seems like a good enough excuse. Second shift?? SURE! Weekends?? Bring it on.

I also have no kids. So my perspective is slightly skewed.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to tweak my resume to draw Apple's interest when applying for this? Right now my resume is geared toward getting a job as a data analyst. I'm a MIS major that graduates in a year but would really like to do this until graduation. Only job I've had thus far has been in a family business (restaurant).

I'm a single dad my GF comes over visits and naps over everyday right now. Lol. I still am not reading if there is any truth to 1 weekend day off or not.

I start on the 26th and throughout my interview process I was told that for PT employees, you'd work 20 hours consisting of three 4 hour shifts during the week and one 8 hour shift on the weekend (leaving one weekend day off). I was told that by at least two different people. Whether or not that holds up remains to be seen.

-highlight your customer service skills (most important)
-how you handle conflict resolution
-being a self-starter/being productive without constant supervision
-ability to assimilate information quickly
-experience with troubleshooting (not even professionally, just in general)/tech knowledge

-highlight your education as far as achievement (GPA) and any groups/clubs you belong to.

just throwing out ideas. hope some of this was helpful!!

If you're part time there's about a 95% chance that you'll be working 3 weekdays and 8 hours on Saturday. There are a few people that work Sunday and have Sat. off but not many.

Maybe I'm the exception, but when I was reading through resumés of people applying for my old job (I was in charge of selecting a new person) whenever they put their GPA I laughed and threw it in another pile. Most people realize that GPA has nothing to do with life skills. Just my POV.

Sunday mornings are slow. There are definitely quite a few who work Sunday afternoons/evenings. My team was split really, 50/50 between Saturday/Sunday. Not sure if that's the norm though.

I remember reading through the stuff for the AHA college positions and it mentioned having to have a certain GPA. Since the OP mentioned he was still in school, I thought that might be applicable. I think if you're not currently in college and applying through a university (which is what I thought he meant), putting your GPA on your resume would seem kind of douchey. Soo..point taken. :)

Ah yeah if he's applying for college, then he has to prove he has the GPA for sure. Otherwise, we're on the same page ;)

I worked as a headhunter for a while and always ignored GPA and picked resumés where the applicant had traveled extensively or work abroad. School is a great place to learn how to learn but life is where you pick up wisdom.

So this is only support for people who paid for apple care? Or new devices within 1 year apple care that comes with it?

The support line is for everyone that owns a device or has an iTunes install. If they are beyond the 90 day complimentary support window and do not already have APP or APP+ then you have to position(sell) a per incident agreement or APP.

Got my offer email today and accepted of course and start Aug 26th full time iOS. From what I have read this job is like any other just plan not to be bothered during your shift. I mean if you were at another job you would be away from your family anyway. I am a single dad and have my child every night around 8 and he goes to bed at 9 so I will plan ahead with whatever shift I get. I have a friend who is T2 Itunes security and he loves it and his wife is in chat support. He told me there is a option to work 4x10 hour days thats what he does. I am not sure if thats offered off the bat but according to him thats out there for full timers. Also he has been on the job for a few years and makes good money and loves this job so it is really dependent on the person on whether or not you will end up liking your job. Anyone who was in non customer service IT would probably hate it but if you have ever helped customers and dealt with metrics you should be fine. Can't wait to see whoever will be in my Aug 26th class! :)

I have been waiting to see which email I'd get. Finally got the HireRight email today, so I am working on it. Yay!

I am excited, but am determined to curb my enthusiasm in light of the last 400+ pages of posts, discussing the reality of the job. I think it's good though to enter into this opportunity having had a reality check, rather than to have my hopes crash and burn because my expectations weren't realistic to begin with.

Anyway, if I am offered the position, start date is supposed to be the 9th, so fingers crossed!

Thank you to everyone who has poured their insight into this thread. It has been very helpful throughout the whole process.

I agree with the Curbing Our Enthusiasm. So you are slated for 9th as well? Awesome! I submitted my HireRight about 1 week ago. Have yet to hear anything back. I am a bit nervous, but I think phone calls will be made next week or so.
