AppleCare Maps

Hi,

I've been trying to keep my application status updated on here if anyone is interested.

Well, I just spoke to a recruiter (again) and had to redo my "second interview".

Why?

Because they're opening a new position called AppleCare Maps. She told me it was a brand new position and asked if I would be okay with it along with a 75 cent pay cut per hour. However, it would be full time not part time. I told her yes.

She went on to redo my second interview.

She asked:

Why do you want to work for Apple?
If you were going to a job fair, how would you research the area you're traveling to?
If a customer called upset about a dropped iphone, what would you say?
If you called a hotel on behalf of Apple to validate their location, how would you introduce yourself?

I answered okay I guess because she set me up for the Facetime interview. It would be a more "in depth" interview. It would focus more on tech knowledge, customer support, and problem solving skills.

Anyone know about this AppleCare Maps?!

Does anyone have any experience with the At-Home Advisor AppleCare Maps position? I have my second interview via Skype on Wednesday and I was just wondering what to expect from the interview.

My final interview is on Friday. PM me and we can trade interview info.

The info she had on the new position was limited. It would appear there are no inbound calls. Just outbound calls?

Hi!

I've just finished the completion of the bg check process and I guess I'm waiting for an offer call for the chat position. I just don't know if I'm sure I'm ready to give up my non customer service position at the bank which doesn't require weekends or evenings. It would be a tough decision. ...

I am just starting the application process, but I have the same concern. My current position doesn't have weekends or evenings. I don't know how much I'll miss that ability to have a set 8-5 schedule! It is definitely a tough decision! I wish you the best in picking what's best for you.

I don't have much as far as interview questions go. My recruiter didn't ask me any questions when I was called back and asked if I would like the maps position. But I believe you are correct that there are only outbound calls.

Apple Maps

Is there anyone out there who is working on the AppleCare Maps Program? If so, tell me a little about it. Had one interview, having another. I hope all goes well. I'm excited about the opportunity to work with Apple.:)

Over 2 weeks since my final interview and turned in my background check info...but its still in progress. Anyone else from the chchat group hear anything?

I had my offer call last week but still didn't get the email offer yet. Have you called Hireright to see if anything is missing?

Thank you so much for your response. I am sorry it took so long to thank you for your input, I just had forgotten about it and had a lot of school work as you can imagine. Well I seen the position open online on Apple's website but not through my University's career center. I will apply on Apple's website and hope they callback. I do not mind getting paid less, any income is better than none and the plus for me really was Apple working around my school schedule since that it is the most difficult part in job searching for a part time job.

Once again thank you for your input, I hope I get a callback.

It's an easier process, based on my experience and what I've read here. I got an email from my university, filled out a brief questionnaire, got an email from Apple asking me to fill out an official application and schedule an interview (via Skype or Facetime), got another email to initiate the background check, and that was it.

There was one interview - full stop. No initial phone interview, no second Skype interview.

The background check, as far as I can tell, was less thorough than the ones many people have reported here. I know that one prior employer of mine is out of business and nobody ever asked me to prove I worked there. I also have a misdemeanor on my record and it didn't show up. (The application only asked about felonies, so I don't think this matters, but it was missing nonetheless.) It seems that they just checked with the school to verify my enrollment and ran a cursory background check to make sure I'm not a complete degenerate.

The downside to the easier hiring process is that college advisors get paid quite a bit less. I guess this is the tradeoff for the way they work the schedule around the school year. Plus a lot of college kids think it's so cool to work for Apple that they would take any wage, so there's not a lot of pricing pressure to make them pay more.

Just had an interview for the maps position. It was very easy and mostly related to customer service. A few technical questions, but very simple.

Just had an interview for the maps position. It was very easy and mostly related to customer service. A few technical questions, but very simple.

Did you make it to the third interview?

They gave me the standard prep info for the third interview:
-will be in depth
-will be technical
-will have role playing
-"be enthusiastic about your apple products"
-be prepared to discuss your customer support experience
-emailed me links to apple support site ("be prepared")

I, of course, am freaking out. I have made flash cards with ALL published interview questions. But, if this has mapping in it, I don't know what to expect.

Anyone know how "technical" third interview questions are?

I did make it to the third round. Everything you described was sprinkled into my second interview and was extremely laid back. From what I've read apple wants to hire you by round 3, just don't give them a reason to change their mind. Attitude when outbound calling was stressed and I believe customer service will still be a huge part of the maps job. Don't worry about being an expert, they want good people they can train.

I'm having my second one today for the Maps. A little nervous I must say. Doing it via Skype.

Wish u luck! Like abananas said, it's laid back and actually fast. You'll do well. My second interview including all the maps clarification was 21 min long. She said the third interview will be about 20 min as well, but FaceTime.
