Good, it was a stupid idea on their part. Concentrate on what you do best.

My idea of an "Apple Car" would be a collaboration with existing automakers, with changes to the styling cues on the outside and inside like the infotainment and upholstery. That kind of stuff is easy much easier to do nowadays, and they just could call it like BMW 740 Edition or similar, and could make a luxury and more affordable brand as well.

False. I just took an 1,100 mile road trip in my Model X... didn't have to stop and charge for close to 270ish miles at a time... each stop was about 25 minutes which was enough for my family to use the restroom stretch our legs and grab a snack. The trip only took me maybe 30-40 minutes more than it would take me with a gas car in the past.

Oh and by the way the whole thing cost me about $60 in super charging, whereas it would have been easily over $300 in gas.
A bit of exaggeration? 🤔 Maybe could have been over $300 if you took an old pickup truck? $3.21 /gal x 1100 miles / 15 mpg = $240.
In a model year 2000 car (EPA average 28 mpg) this trip is $3.21 / gal x 1100 miles / 28 mpg = $127.
Guess it depends on what your fuel prices are. Today's AAA nationwide average price is $3.21/gal.
So easily UNDER $300.

IMO apple should buy lit motors and finally bring their fully enclosed, gyro-stabilized, electric motorcycle to market.

Either that or start working on a flying car right away, lol ;):p:cool::eek:

What type are those new tires? Or did you perhaps change your driving habits?

Because from what I've read all EVs just chew through tires like a puppy.

What you read vs reality is 2 different things.

My EV tires are going to need to be replaced at 40k miles. Currently at 30k on my Mach E and I can estimate it. 40k also happens to the the mileage warranty on the tires. Low and behold the exact same mileage as any car running the Michelins tires on my car stock. Also the exact same mileages my previous ICE powered Honda crosstour got on its original stock tires which were the system standard of Michelins.

They are not wearing out any faster. My driving pattern are not changing.

Often times people look at Tesla and see that lower mileage and compare it to their car but fail to compare those tires to other stock tires of cars in the price range and find out low and behold nearly same mileage and wear patterns.

Electric cars have literally no upsides whatsoever.
They cost more to buy. They cost more to refill, and they take so much longer doing so. They have so much less range than other cars. Worst of all, they are a proven danger to society.
They are far more prone to fires and explosions due to the sheer volume of battery in the car, and not if but when they catch on fire, they take time and resources tenfold what a standard car fire would take.
One upside to an EV is all I ask.

Wtf are you talking about.

Let’s see it cost me 3 cents a mile in power to drive my EV. It cost me 12 cents a mile in gas to drive my ICE.

EV maintenance is lower and less to do.

I don’t have to go to a gas station once a week to charge. I plug it in at home and boom full charge while I sleep. No needing to waste the 10-15 mins to go fill up the car every week. Plus did I mention cheaper.

More fun to drive.

In terms of cost my EV cost the same as other vehicles I was considering at the time. It is just slightly smaller in size but cost was the same.

On road trips 8 hour drive to see my mother it added about 30 extra minutes in travel time. My kid needs to stop and get out anyhow. Just combined things into one stop. On a road trip yeah EV not saving me money. I break even but the car is just better.

or, watching EVs evolving, it will be simpler to buy Tesla eventually, and build from there.

What sucks is I was finally getting to the age and financial situation in my life where I might be able to actually afford an Apple Car. Was thinking about buying one around 2030 when my house is paid off and they've worked out the kinks over a few years.

I really want a Rivian R1S but they don't support CarPlay. Maybe now that Apple has cancelled the car, more manufacturers will implement CarPlay and especially CarPlay 2, or whatever it's called, that is more fully integrated without fear of competition.

and I'm relieved, because I would never have the money to buy one. 🤣

Start reasonably: Apple Personal Butler (standalone Siri with a body). When that works well, then continue with vehicles.

Why is no one thinking of the obvious - maybe Apple will purchase one of the struggling EV makers?

Lucid would be a perfect fit. Lucid’s technology with Apple’s software and manufacturing/marketing expertise would help Lucid drop the cost of their cars and put the hurt on Tesla.
Doubt it.
Volvo just threw Polestar under the bus.
Car makers are getting a dose of reality regarding the profitability of EVs.
Boutique manufacturers like Fisker, Rivian, Polestar and Lucid are not long for the world, imo.

They’re also just straight-up a safety hazard- they are far more prone to explosions and require 10x the amount of time to put out in the event of a likely fire.
Thank goodness for gasoline, the non-hazardous/non-flammable alternative.

We're now suffering the consequences of that, and it's time for burning fossil fuels to become extinct. We need to evolve.
Yeah no. We're not suffering any consequences, and until you can give me mile-for-mile electric parity with my "gas guzzling" trucks & cars I'll keep right on burning all the "fossil" fuels til my heart's content.
