So, Apple cancels potentially something innovative and unique, but we hear about how they are EXPLORING, “smart rings”, “HomePods with screens”, “AirPods with cameras”, and “smart glasses that do not even have screens”?? I predict that in the coming decades Apple is going to be SEVERELY behind in many technological categories. It has already begun with other companies (XReal, Waymo, Tesla, Lenovo, Samsung, ChatGPT, Google, etc.) who have RELEASED compelling and bleeding edge technologies. I truly wonder how long Tim Cook has before he has to retire or is ousted.
1. Smart Ring, HomePod with screen, AirPod with camera would have a lower developed cost and would be better to market to the masses. $200 cost Vs $100,000.

2. We know Apple is developing and putting huge stock into Ai with iOS 18. As far as ChatGPT/Gemini and copilot could have App alongside them.

3. Tesla would have ceased to exist in 2015 if it was not for the multiple personal financial bailouts. Tesla is Tesla because of the following it has. Truth be told, it’s more TeslaOS that makes it popular. Rivian and Lucid are just as great.

4. Can’t speak for Lenovo and Samsung. I do believe Apple will have a foldable product, but only when it meets Apple‘s standards.

And with a finite resource such as oil and gas, what do you propose would be the solution for powering vehicles? We don’t need to even get into the topic of the environmental aspects, just simply a feasible energy source to replace oil and gas when it runs out. But hey, that’s the next generations problem, RIGHT?
Similar to my other comment, maintaining current rolling stock and perfecting this is by far greener than producing new electric cars https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/tech/what-is-synthetic-fuel-efuel/

False. I just took an 1,100 mile road trip in my Model X... didn't have to stop and charge for close to 270ish miles at a time... each stop was about 25 minutes which was enough for my family to use the restroom stretch our legs and grab a snack. The trip only took me maybe 30-40 minutes more than it would take me with a gas car in the past.

Oh and by the way the whole thing cost me about $60 in super charging, whereas it would have been easily over $300 in gas.

Here's the thing-- that's only true in very specific routes. The long road trips on the routes I take would require adding HOURS of charging time to get to the destinations. Until ALL routes can offer similar transit times to gas vehicles, electric cars still suck for long routes.

Why do they need to go bye bye?
Say more …
Electric cars have literally no upsides whatsoever.
They cost more to buy. They cost more to refill, and they take so much longer doing so. They have so much less range than other cars. Worst of all, they are a proven danger to society.
They are far more prone to fires and explosions due to the sheer volume of battery in the car, and not if but when they catch on fire, they take time and resources tenfold what a standard car fire would take.
One upside to an EV is all I ask.

Is it just that Apple couldn’t innovate and build anything new anymore?
Probably the battery was too heavy so they had to make it externally attached as a trailer.

Or it turned out to be too difficult to turn the car over each time you need to charge it.

Or they realized they’d have to make it multi-user.

Or the FineWoven tires proved to degrade too quickly.

Or they realized they couldn’t source enough titanium for the car frame.

Surprised but not surprised. Apple could have worked on it indefinitely, but fully autonomous driving is years if not decades away and all they would have been doing is keeping up with the industry on the drawing board while not actually shipping a product. Apple can reinsert themselves in this space at a later point in time when the technology is more viable. Think about it as ditching the Newton and coming back with the iPhone when tech and infrastructure to support it was much further along. Apple is not going out of business any time soon and the future is wide open.

They don't cost more to "refill"... that is absolutely false.
And by the way, an electric car is just about as prone to exploding as the phone in your pocket.
