Yikes, no. Gays are not equals. A man is not interchangeable with a woman.

This is not one of his finer moments. "Don't ask don't tell". Nobody wants to hear about your bizarre bedroom behavior. As CEO of a business, he should know better than to share such things publicly.

It must be so sad to still be living in the last century and missing out on all the great inventions of the 21st.

Sorry, but I'm done buying Apple products as long as Tim Cook is CEO. Using his public position to push the agenda of hate and intolerancs aka. the gay agenda, is disgusting. Keep your bizarre sexual behavior to yourself, Tim, nobody wants to hear about it.

Those Android tablets are looking better and better.

Well it wouldn't be news if people stopped announcing their sexual orientation to the world. Tim Cook was not forced to do this. Most people knew he was gay and didn't care at all.

And if he hadn't made a verbal statement, just taken his partner along to the Grand CEO Gala Dinner Night, you would have considered that a statement too. Really, wether he speaks the words or snogs his partner in public as any CEO is entitled to do, there's a section of society that will criticise him for "announcing his sexuality". Did Murdoch get this **** when he married Wendi Deng , publicly "announcing his sexuality". No, he was da man. There's the problem right there.

Congratulations Tim. More power (and privacy) to you.

Good to see Apple leading in Social Justice; #onlytheappleceocoulddothis !

Stop with this bull! I want a strong iPhone and solid iOS. Unreal.

Stop using my money for ANYTHING except R&D and better tech! No right no left no center no righteous religious crap. Just tech!

Wow.....I guess even the less enlighten of us are on Macrumors.

Thanks for identifying yourself.

Sorry buddy, one day you'll wake up and find you've been living on the wrong side of history, and the wrong side of morality. I feel sorry for you.

Happy for him, but don't discount the impact on the brand in areas that aren't as liberal as the area you're from. I live in Boston so this is no big deal here, but down south I could totally see bigoted people not wanting to support "gay Apple."

I can also see some middle school kid with an Android phone calling another kid with an iPhone gay because he owns an iPhone. Sounds ridiculous I know but you'd be surprised at how idiotic people can be. We'll see how it effects Apple going forward.

Why can't you have some tolerance for the beliefs of others?

It is the first duty of humans to oppose bigotry. Tolerating bigots is the first step towards eventually tolerating the crimes of bigots. You tolerate the irrational view of bigots, then soon we will be tolerating laws the bigots might try to pass, restricting the freedoms of others. The Nazis were "tolerated" and look what happened to Germany.

Fight bigotry and bigots everywhere. Because, soon it may be YOU who is irrationally feared or persecuted for some ridiculous reason.

Good for him.
Its 2014 though. You'd think we were past having to fight for equality.

Now that were about done for equal rights for all humans, it's about time we start on the rights of the other animals that live on this planet with us. Except mosquitoes and ants, **** mosquitoes and ants.

This is exactly what is wrong with the gay agenda today - it's filled with hate and intolerance. Any who doesn't goose-step to the gay agenda gets attacked. The gay agenda is using the same tactics against Christians today, that the KKK used against blacks decades ago. It's pure unfiltered hate, wrapped in a rainbow colored flag.

Wow. Yep, all the hate is coming from elsewhere. No hate here.

I wonder if the Samsung CEO will suddenly become gay too.

Stupid retort. I cannot imagine why so many people thought this comment was the next best thing.

Who cares...not news.

Should not have to be news.

I did post this already and their's no need to attack him, he's not trying to force his sexuality upon others, be more concerned about running Apple.

Stay in school. Learn how to proof your writing.

Change the apple logo to a banana since the apple represents Adam and eve please.

Inane comment.

If Tim Cook :apple: felt the need to tell anyone he is gay, even when that person probably already knew it, I'm sure he thought it needed to be said publicly.

This information is printed when AAPL is at its highest, and I doubt it will have any effect on the stock price.

Looks like you can't use Android. Or Windows. Go have fun in the stone age.

I am not taking a side here either way but if someone has an opinion, religious or not, they are entitled to it. They are not required to tell someone else that what they are doing is ok.

You are no more 'entitled' to be a homophobe than you are to be a racist.

It's OK to disagree with people over their opinions and beliefs, but attacking them over unchangeable and irrelevant aspects of their biology, such as gender, sexuality or race is not on. That is when it becomes nothing but prejudice and blind hate.

The bigoted voice is yours, telling others what they should or should not believe. Why can't you have some tolerance for the beliefs of others? You have zero tolerance for any beliefs that don't mesh with your own - the dictionary definition of a bigot.

This is exactly what is wrong with the gay agenda today - it's filled with hate and intolerance. Any who doesn't goose-step to the gay agenda gets attacked. Ok....

Not sure how you do it, but the more you speak the crazier you sound.

Obama is black and he's president. Its been six years now. Get over it already.

To MisakixMikasa and other who insist on comparing gay marriage to marrying animals or children, or cal it "the slippery slope", well..

We have reasons why we pass certain laws. We don't pass laws "just because". For example, you can't marry children because children do not have the mental development to understand what they are doing or to make decisions like this. You can't marry animals because animals are a lower life form and it would be considered cruelty. And you can't marry your sister or brother or daughter or son due to the serious genetic problems it would cause. You can't marry more than one person because the potential for fraud, monetary or otherwise, is present. All those represent serious harm to the public and individuals if we allowed them. In other words, we have reasons for laws about those things.

Being gay, on the other hand, is legal. There is no harm to the gay people or to the public. In other words, "because it upsets some of you" is not a good enough reason to have a law banning something, say gay marriage. Therefore, they should be able to do all the legal things the rest of us can do and they shouldn't be allowed to do the things in the above list we also aren't allowed to do. Very simple.
at the same time sodomy is not legal

I'm having a hard time reconciling that quote from Tim Cook and his feeling that he needed to make his sexuality public. His sexuality has nothing to do with being CEO of Apple. And if we're not defined by our gender why does he feel the need to tell the world he's gay? Especially if he really values his privacy? We're long past the point where coming out really mattered. Everybody knew he was gay and nobody cared. I see this as more of a distraction than anything else.

This is my thoughts too. Seemed like an oxymoron to me.

The problem with gay people in the US is they usually, even if they didn't start out that way, usually end up, maybe through influence of friends, end up subscribing to all this righteous left wing political crap, and then trying to shovel it on everything they touch. We've seen ample evidence of this at apple over the last year. I don't want ANY political crap, left or right or center supported with the money I give to a company. I want better devices and more R&D. I want Tim Cook to step down and turn the reins of the company to someone who loves and lives and breaths tech, and tech only.

Well, then you'd better drop tech completely, and any products for that matter and start living off the land. Every corporation/company supports political issues of some sort. My own included.

I don't care if he's gay - that's his business and nobody else's. Just don't run the company into the ground and continue to release great products - that's all I think anybody really wants.

Oh, by the way, the only one discussing "bizarre sexual behavior" is you. You're the only one here fantasizing about gay sex. Apparently it's all you have on your mind.
