The conspiracist in me wonders is this is an attempt at an astute business move to explain away signs of crashing iPhone sales due to bendgate? See it's not bendy phone, it's all this intolerance....

Sorry, but I'm done buying Apple products as long as Tim Cook is CEO. Using his public position to push the agenda of hate and intolerancs aka. the gay agenda, is disgusting. Keep your bizarre sexual behavior to yourself, Tim, nobody wants to hear about it.

Those Android tablets are looking better and better.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Redacted part of his statement:

... and while I support equality where it is convenient and profitable to champion, appeasing oppressive countries like Iran to sell magical Apple products to the Khomeini and his murderous minions is necessary to advance the cause. As you probably know Apple is exploring ways to enter that dramatic market. But be not fooled by appearances and rest assured I look forward to the day when gay men and women can be stoned with Mac minis or strangled to death with Lightning cables right next to heterosexual ones. True equality, "modern" Sharia style.

* P.S. I'm also working on getting use of Samsung products in Iran to be a capital offense. Everybody wins!

Yikes, no. Gays are not equals. A man is not interchangeable with a woman.

This is not one of his finer moments. "Don't ask don't tell". Nobody wants to hear about your bizarre bedroom behavior. As CEO of a business, he should know better than to share such things publicly.

He doesn't even mention his bedroom behaviour, yet YOU seem to have been thinking about it quite a lot ... Perhaps this says more about YOU than Tim Cook and the article.

I'm so happy Tim Cook was able to come out and be who he really is. Despite the hate still in this world, it really has gotten better, and will continue to do so as long as prominent influential people like Tim do the right thing.

As for the haters in this thread: You really should re-evaluate your life. Some people are gay. How does their being gay affect you negatively? Gay people aren't going anywhere, so you might as well get used to the fact that they exist and learn that they aren't a threat to anyone.

If anything they add variety to the world and make it a more wonderful and loving place, from what I've seen personally.

This put a smile on my face and a bit of mist in my eyes.

Good move, Tim -- countless people will be comforted knowing that the CEO of one of the largest, most successful and beloved companies on the planet is gay.

It seems obvious that you wouldn't have made this type of announcement publicly if it was all about you, but you made the move anyway because you realized it was in service of others.

:)

The problem with gay people in the US is they usually, even if they didn't start out that way, usually end up, maybe through influence of friends, end up subscribing to all this righteous left wing political crap, and then trying to shovel it on everything they touch. We've seen ample evidence of this at apple over the last year. I don't want ANY political crap, left or right or center supported with the money I give to a company. I want better devices and more R&D. I want Tim Cook to step down and turn the reins of the company to someone who loves and lives and breaths tech, and tech only.

But many of the executives are straight and have kids, they don't breath tech, and tech only. Maybe the Unabomber is looking for a job?

One would think I would learn to not read comments/forum threads on things like this.

I think the content of this forum thread is the very reason Cook decided to go more public. The more we talk about it, the less ignorant we are on it, the more we accept it.

There are plenty of Gays working on Android tablets.... and on Windows... and on Blackberry... and on other smartphone devices...

You may have to just make your own smartphone with two cups and a string....

Sorry buddy, one day you'll wake up and find you've been living on the wrong side of history, and the wrong side of morality. I feel sorry for you.

I didn't know people were this ignorant. I give too much credit

Have fun back in that cave ...

Excuse me, but what religious people are making Tim Cooks life miserable?

The reality is that the homosexual movement does not want equality. They ALREADY have that in the US. Discrimination is illegal. The true agenda is that they want everyone to tell them "its ok" and affirm it.

I am not taking a side here either way but if someone has an opinion, religious or not, they are entitled to it. They are not required to tell someone else that what they are doing is ok.

Discrimination based on sexual orientation is not illegal in the U.S. Things have been improving, especially lately, but definitely not illegal.

Also, Tim Cook is a global figure, and it certainly isn't illegal in many other countries.

The fight for equality regardless of sexual orientation is far from over. To me, this is just part of a larger fight for equality, which itself is simply one component of the fight for freedom. It would be great if that fight was won, but it is not.
