I think most gay people are not so tired of hearing this.

If heterosexuals were in the minority and if they were facing discrimination or ridicule throughout their lives, and if it were difficult for them to admit that they are heterosexuals, then I am sure you would be happy to hear from some "important people" that they are heterosexual.

Your comments are debatable. Hispanics are minorities... I don't hear them publicly announcing that they are Hispanic. Blacks are minorities, I don't hear them publically announcing that they are 'African American'.

There are MANY minority groups in the world. Billionaires are minorities... and you don't hear them announcing to the world that they are a billionaire.

To many... people who publicly announce their status, to most, seems arrogant and egotistical.

Here's a thought: Do you think it would be right if the person on your street, in your neighborhood, leaves a flyer in everyone's mailbox announcing that he is the richest person in your neighborhood?

No it's not. Skin color is preset and an obvious fact. This is a mindset and some mindsets can be detrimental.

Really??? You're going with that?

Using the word mindset in terms of someones sexuality? It's not a mindset, that would suggest it could be changed. It's preset.

Live in the real world, it's nice out here.

Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs.

Lisa Brennan-Jobs, the daughter of Steve Jobs.

These people act, to some extent, as an announcement of sexuality. They are simply not seen as such due to heterosexuality being treated as “normal”, so acting on the impulse to have sex with, and conceive children with someone of the opposite sex as an announcement of ones sexuality.

You're really stretching it there...

I want to live in a world where straight is the norm and gay is the exception.

You do understand percentages right ?

I want to live ina world where the gay agenda is not pushed to everyone.

You 'choose' to read an article in which Tim Cook said he didn't see it as a big deal and wanted to just get on with his life and his work.

If anything 'you' are being the drama queen here.

I want to live in a world that makes the gay the outcast and not the person that believes it is wrong.

WHY do you feel the need to make anyone an outcast ?

You haven't actually read the full article have you? Or maybe you did but don't understand it?

If it makes no difference why does he need to publicly come out? Everybody knew or suspected he was gay. Nobody cares. It has no bearing on his job as CEO of Apple.

Control.

By coming out, its on his terms. Better than the media making an utter mess out of it, at some point it was going to come out.

Are you really suggesting that ones sexual preference has not impact in our current society? Tim is in a very fortunate position he will not have to find another job after his gig at Apple. Other business people or sports people are forced to hide it so they can equal employment opportunities or endorsement deals.

If it makes not difference, and we are such a accepting society, why do other high profile people have to publicly come out. Cause we are not such an accepting society, they come out on their terms! Maybe in the future....

This has nothing to do with normal. Sexual orientation is not about normal or abnormal. Some people have blue eyes and some people have brown eyes. Some people are gay. They were born with their sexual orientation. They are not abnormal. Get a clue!

And whoever said "tolerant" is something that the LGBT community conjures up, no it's not. Tolerance is tolerance. No one should be bullied, discriminated against because of their sexual orientation anymore than they should be discriminated against because of their ethnicity, etc.

To those of you who can't condone it because of your religion, then your religion has taught you the wrong things. Just like it taught the wrong thing to those who thought lynching or slavery was okay.

Good for Tim. Eventually, we may be a society that is truly the "land of the free."

Young gay teens attempt to kill themselves every day because people just like you shove their sexuality in their faces as if it's a bad thing. He's trying to help those people that people like YOU attack. If it's too much to handle, buy another brand. Or grow up.

All teens commit suicide, regardless if they are gay or not.

Quit trying to box the world into being gay.

Tim - focus on making a decent upgradable Mac Mini instead of your orientation.

Where do you get the impression that he is focussing on it?

If you mention to a friend that you enjoy skydiving (or whatever floats your boat), does your boss call you to scream "Focus on your work, not on your stupid skydiving!!"?

Much as those throwing religion into the mix here to condone someones sexuality - will think nothing of consuming pork & eating shellfish ........ hypocrisy is rife here.

People aren't commiting suicide because their billionaires, Hispanic, or a minority. They're commiting suicide because they're afraid of how society will treat them for being LGBTQ. I had these same fears. It's a lonely world when one discovered they are different due to their sexual orientation. I was too afraid to tell anyone about what I was goin through because I didn't know anyone that was LGBTQ. It sounds silly now but, o uses to ruina o es the I love you one. I has fríen yo in the church. I ese remiended too often that I was a sin. Who I loved was unforgiving. Do you want to know what saved me? Hearing that only God could judge me. Not the priest, not the person next to me or the people around me but God.

In hs, I heard many people were LGBTQ and that too saved me. I realized I wasn't alone. Tim Cook might have sparked some controversy for the company because he came out but he felt it important to come out. In sure some kid somewhere is feeling a whole lot better because some he looks up to is gay.
