I certainly support him as CEO of Apple. But certainly don't support his homosexuality.

I feel bad for you and the 27 upvoters. I guess the Southern States are still proving themselves as 100 years behind the Northern states. Again.

This is a really great thread to select people to put on my ignore list.

I'm not interested in opinions about Macs, iPhones or Apple Watches if it originates from the same brains that is behind all this hate against gays.

To the posters in this thread who speak out against homosexuality, by calling it "gross" or "unnatural" is just speaking out of fear. Either they are gay themselves, bashing it, or they are ignorant because they fear it and don't truly understand it.

You haven't actually read the full article have you? Or maybe you did but don't understand it?

yes.. i read the article.... and I did not see anything related to a new Apple product being released.

He's an ok CEO, and for a few yet as there have been some speculations of his orientation, so for me this changes nothing about my opinion about him. Now other people who didn't know this will be shocked and want to not support Apple at all anymore. As long as he keeps on working at Apple and stays "single" then everything will be ok (probably doesnt have time for a relationship, and I hope he doesn't)

The TL;DR Version:

Good CEO, pretty much knew this, as long as no relationship, everything is good

How on earth does what someone enjoys doing at home effect what they do at work?
If anything, a relationship would help him. And being in a relationship with a member of the opposite sex has the same pros and cons...?

This +100000:

Why are you so concerned with what two consenting adults do in their own bedroom? If you don't like gay sex, don't have gay sex.

"When I arrive in my office each morning, I’m greeted by framed photos of Dr. King and Robert F. Kennedy. I don’t pretend that writing this puts me in their league. All it does is allow me to look at those pictures and know that I’m doing my part, however small, to help others. We pave the sunlit path toward justice together, brick by brick. This is my brick."

Well said Tim.

Moving and inspiring

His personal essay is very moving and inspiring. I like how he said his goal is to "be the best CEO he can be" not make the most money or be the most famous. That's my takeaway from this story. Be the best you can be at what you do and all the other good things will come along with that.

No, he didn't say the pacify media part, lol. I just find it funny this is treated as breaking news...

Why is it funny? The most powerful company in the world has a gay leader. That is important to many people who are gay and those that discriminate against gay people as well.

nothing wrong being gay, but yosemite sucks, and mac mini, and iOS 8, and retina iMac GPU also.

Your comments are debatable. Hispanics are minorities... I don't hear them publicly announcing that they are Hispanic. Blacks are minorities, I don't hear them publically announcing that they are 'African American'.
Yes, because it is obvious. But it is considered a big issue when there is an african-american president or a hispanic CEO for a major tech company, and it's considered encouraging for other african-americans or hispanics.
There are MANY minority groups in the world. Billionaires are minorities... and you don't hear them announcing to the world that they are a billionaire.
Yes. I am sure billionaires experience a lot of discrimination in their lives.
To many... people who publicly announce their status, to most, seems arrogant and egotistical.
I agree, there are certain people who think like that, because either they don't understand what gay people go through in their lives, or they don't care, or they are a part of making life difficult for gay people. Feel free to pick in which of these three groups you belong. After your utterly bizarre comparison with billionaires, I guess it's the first.

Here's a thought: Do you think it would be right if the person on your street, in your neighborhood, leaves a flyer in everyone's mailbox announcing that he is the richest person in your neighborhood?
When rich people are the victim of discrimination, yes.

To be honest I wouldn't mind if we didn't see/hear from Cook for a while now. They've been talking about this all morning on CNBC. It's one of the top stories on every tabloid website. Too much focus on Tim and not company.

Excuse me, but what religious people are making Tim Cooks life miserable?

The reality is that the homosexual movement does not want equality. They ALREADY have that in the US. Discrimination is illegal. The true agenda is that they want everyone to tell them "its ok" and affirm it.

I am not taking a side here either way but if someone has an opinion, religious or not, they are entitled to it. They are not required to tell someone else that what they are doing is ok.

You've clearly never belonged to a group who has suffered persecution. This question answers itself.

Let's speculate: maybe him coming out officially means a possible Cook + Ive union?

I knew it!, comes as a shock a bit for me.
But more power to him.

How can you know something and at the same time knowing it later on be shocking  :p

All teens commit suicide, regardless if they are gay or not.

Quit trying to box the world into being gay.

OMG! All the teens are committing suicide!
