I think if Cook wasn't being pressured into it, his personal preference would be to avoid the public statement. But, as we know the media has the power, and lots of it.

So did you make a conscious 'choice' to be heterosexual? For me puberty kicked in and I went from hating girls, to being totally obsessed with them, pretty much over night.

This is why scientists can change the sexual preferences of mice by deleting certain genes.

Tim Cook had no choice in the matter. Why would he 'choose' to have his life made miserable by clueless religious people anyway?

I use to think I was Bi myself like you and I agree that it my own business. What I mean by that it's sad is that people should just be able to embrace any sexuality without hate. Some of these posts on this forum really sicken me about Tim being gay.
My best friend is gay - do I think of him diffently? Nope he still human and I support him all the way! But what gets me is why is it so big when people are gay it becomes front page new stories - people should not need to come out with such publicity around them!

People should not need a coming out party at all, just get on with things like the rest of us.

IMHO he should have capitalized on this "news" by going further and urging people in the US to get out and VOTE in the midterm elections. Plenty of anti-gay right-wing politicians out there who need to go.

He's an ok CEO, and for a few yet as there have been some speculations of his orientation, so for me this changes nothing about my opinion about him. Now other people who didn't know this will be shocked and want to not support Apple at all anymore. As long as he keeps on working at Apple and stays "single" then everything will be ok (probably doesnt have time for a relationship, and I hope he doesn't)
