I pre-ordered an iPhone 8 Plus and an Apple TV 4K. Both are at "Preparing to Ship" status. I have one package showing in UPS MyChoice that is apparently coming from Apple (originating in Shenzhen, China), but I can't tell whether it's the iPhone or the Apple TV. Package weight says 1.10 kgs. Any other way to tell?

I can't remember the shipping weight of the Plus size iPhones. My tracking info says 3kg which translates to 6.6 lbs. I wonder if my two 8 Pluses and Apple Watch are shipping in the same package.

That seems like it is the apple tv.

Nope. Nothing.. just "your order is being prepared for shipping"
Keep checking the UPS tracking. I am sure it will show soon.

There have been a few years when a phone didn't leave China until the day before launch and it still arrived on time.

Only exception to the "99% will get their phone on launch day" rule is when there's a new color or an unusually high demand phone. Like last year's JetBlack. NO one got their phone on launch day for that one.

And even though Apple wisely gave themselves an extra month and a half to get ready for it - iPhone X will be utter mayhem too. Many won't get on launch day.

These preOrder threads usually generate 100-200 posts AN HOUR each year. They've only generated a 'few hundred' TOTAL since Friday.. 8/8+ launch has been very underwhelming. Most are waiting for X.
I noticed the same thing. Such decreased activity - I feel like anyone upgrading this time around either isn’t a full on enthusiast, or is and wasn’t impressed with the X. I personally need a solid phone, and I don’t want to risk launch or gen 0 glitches with the X. I think it’s a beautiful phone, but for the first time in 7 years I’m going to “skip” a generation and am getting the 8 Plus.

I feel like the people who would be getting the X are the ones who will be sleeping with their eyes open staring at the ceiling waiting for their deliveries app to ding with a scan ;)

Yeah, I think will see serious craziness and angst on the iPhone X preorder/shipment threads. :)

All I'm hoping for is that this week goes by fast. My delivery date is Sept 25 - Oct 1. Can it be Sept 25 already? :)

I preordered an iPhone 8 Plus for my wife's yearly upgrade and will be using it on my line until I eventually get the iPhone X. She doesn't care how soon she gets a new phone, so it's a win-win. I get to use the new Plus to tide me over until the X comes... which, let's be honest, is probably NOT going to be November 3. Even with staying up late and preordered when it first goes on sale, I'm guessing the vast majority of us are NOT going to get an iPhone X on launch day. I'm preparing myself for the inevitability that the X will probably arrive several weeks - if not months - later, so I might as well get used to the 8 Plus.

That said, the 8 Plus is arriving on launch day, so there is definitely SOME excitement. I'm particularly interested in trying out the 4k 60fps and portrait lighting modes on the camera (and seeing how much better the camera sensor really is in low light).

I notice that too
I notice that you can no longer reserve for in store pick up. I was hoping to be able to switch to a silver from space gray the day of. I wonder if this means they’re running low on store stock now.
I noticed that too, does that mean you have to stand in line on Friday ?

Mine is shipping UPS, though I imagine the shipping weight should be the same. I have an 8 coming from ShangHai and it shows .60 kg.

I have something in Fedex showing up coming from pss in Davenport Iowa, with a weight of 0.91 i
Kg, or 2 lbs. Ordered a 8+. Thing that makes me doubt it's the phone is it says it's shipping by FedEx smartpost, which is where the y transfer it to USPS for final delivery. I do have a promotional item I'm waiting on as well. Guess I'll have to wait for a tracking number or at least more info to hit the tracking.

Citizens One shows my current iUP loans as "on hold." Apple said they would put the current loans on hold when the new phones ship. Wish they would have done this a day or so ago, I got charged September's payment for my current phones.

Just curious does the package needed to be signed for on delivery? Can't remember last time.

Yes, Apple does require a signature. They give you the option to print a release form that you can sign and pin to your door, but the delivery driver has the discretion of whether or not to leave the package.

Wait, this is really a thing? Can I change the delivery address to where I'll be? I won't be home. Also, I don't yet have tracking for my 256gb Sprint 8+ that I ordered at 12:01.

You can but there might be a delay in when it is delivered.

been trying to figure out if my phone is on a flight or just traveling around china, but lord flight tracking is confusing lol. on ups.com tracking it says it departed shanghai on 9/17 at 10:55 am and I got the notification around 11pm last night.

Same here. Is it bad that I want to follow the thread and just see how crazy it will actually be
Oh, believe me I totally plan to ;)

They should refund the payment when your new phone loan starts. Give a call to Citizens or Apple once you receive your new one, when the close the old loan out they should refund it to you.
