Just think, two more days and it'll be time for a whole new batch of people to drive themselves crazy over the availability of their new phone. :p

Hey everyone, I know there is a lot of mixed feelings about the iPhone X and the notch and all but I actually like the look of the phone and think it IS unique. So I got the iPhone 7 Plus last year for free through my carrier (T-Mobile), and it’s free because they are basically paying the 24 month thing. So I can’t sell my 7plus yet until they finish paying that off next year. Now, I am debating how to pay for the iPhone X. The Apple upgrade program is enticing because if they do ever make some important changes to the phone next year, it will not be an issue upgrading I’m getting the new one. The only downside is, it is a bit more expensive in the end paying for the Apple upgrade program. I could also just buy the phone out right. What do people recommend? What are people’s experiences with the Apple upgrade program?

So to clarify. Let say i choose to have my order shipped to my local UPS Store instead of having it delivered directly to my house would it be ready by the time the store opened? (8 am)

Yes should be. Better to pick it up at the customer center sorting facility in your area. It’s there immediately that morning rather than them having to drive it to a specific ups store

OK, because I’m bored and a giant dork about this every year, I went back into my post history on MR for the year that my phone started off here in the US (the gold 6 Plus) to find out how I was able to track (or not) at that time. I ordered it on 9/12/14 and it went to Preparing for Shipment on 9/13. I was able to track by reference on 9/15 (but that was back when Apple actually put useful things on their support page and not just the stuff that’s already associated with your Apple ID (grr)), and I believe the info for the new phone that hadn’t yet been received contained another number we were able to use for tracking). I didn’t get an origin scan (in Nashville) until 9/17, and the phone was delivered on time on the 19th.

So hopefully we’ll see something soon, but even if not, don’t worry.

My local customer center doesnt open until 1:30 friday so i guess the regular UPS store is my best bet

Actually you want it to pick up at the customer center oppsed to UPS Store won't be ready for pick up till little later than 8 am.

I’ve picked up a package from the UPS store before and it wasn’t ready until like 2:30 that afternoon

It depends. When you change it to be picked up at a store it’ll tell you the availability date. In my experience, if they ship it to the store you won’t get it until the next business day. You’ll always be able to get it from the customer center the same day because that’s where it’s stored before shipping to your home

I'm just hoping that mine will be shipped Via Fedex because then I can request a hold for pick up at my nearest Fedex Ship and Print Center for pick up. It's usually around 8:30 am to 9 am when it's ready for pick up.

I also have an in-store pickup appointment. I wish I could track it with you all, but waiting on UPS all day is not very fun as my driver delivers my area last.

My appointment is 5-5:30, but it turns out that I don't have to work that day after all, so I will be there in the AM. I realize there will be a wait, but that's OK. It'll give me time to look at the different color options on display.

I'm in a similar boat, I've never done the launch day in-store pick up before. Those with experience, if I have a 6pm pick up time, can I just show up at 8am knowing that I'll probably have to wait a bit longer?

Most of the time, doing a pick up at a UPS customer service center, doesn't change your delivery date. In fact, based on the facility, you may be able to get it earlier in the day, than if it is delivered to your home/office. But if you choose to send it to a UPS store, this typically adds at least one business day.

Interesting because any time I choose to send it to a UPS store, it goes there and I can pick up on the day of and not the next day. Meaning if the original delivery date was 22nd and I redirect it to the UPS store, I can pick it up the same day but would have to be in the afternoon.

Edit: In the event that my phone gets shipped via UPS, I will select to pick it up at the customer service center but assuming I can pick it anytime after 8 am? Because I work from 8 to 2.

Yes, sometimes you can pick up later that same day, but sometimes it will add a day. My brother ordered his phone two years ago and diverted it to the UPS store and was unable to pick it up until Monday afternoon.

Yea I heard that too. I also edited my posted not sure if you caught that but supposedly I could pick it up after 2 pm (if it was UPS and if I chose to pick it up at the customer service center?)

I see. I have picked up at the UPS center a few times and have always been able to pick it up early that morning.

depends on a lot of factors. the website will show you the estimated date... in a lot of cases having it held at the normal customer center it would go through anyway to get on a house to your truck is the only way to get it the same day.

Friend held his at our local customer center, before that he tried having it delivered to UPS store near his work and it was next day.
