I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from Apple last week that my 12/1-12/8 256 GB silver IUP order was shipped. However, UPS tracking shows no delivery date and no movement since 11/17:

11/17/2017 10:54 A.M. The package is awaiting clearing agency review. / The package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release.
ZhengZhou, China 11/17/2017 11:20 P.M. Arrival Scan
11/17/2017 10:57 P.M. Departure Scan
11/17/2017 5:24 P.M. Origin Scan
China 11/17/2017 9:29 A.M. (ET) Order Processed: Ready for UPS

According to the Apple order status, delivery is expected between 12/1 and 12/8. I get that customs can be unpredictable, but, knowing that, I wonder why Apple bothers to send out shipping notifications *before* customs clearance.

I'm kind of nervous because I'll be out of town Thurs-Tues and don't want it delivered outside my apartment door in my absence (neighbors in my building accept packages for each other).

Request to hold for Pick up at UPS Main HUB! you'll be fine!

I think there's something going on because I also have been stuck for a few days now. UPS stated order processed on the 18th at 10pm, then they went back in time to earlier in the day, and it's been in ZhengZhou since the 18th at 8pm. Another iPhone X I ordered pretty much zoomed on through. Weird.

I’m convinced mine has been lost in a black hole in China. Shipped on 11/16 with no activity on my tracking information since 11/18.

Mine sat in ZhengZhou for ‘5’ days before moving onto Incheon. Then sat there for 2 more days. Finally made the flight to Anchorage and then everything moved real quickly. Had my phone within 36 hours after landing in Anchorage. Apple is controlling the delivery times, gang. And they’re giving preference to IUP and Premier business carrier clients. All normal stuff (when you’re Apple).

I ordered yesterday and got a ship date of 12/13-12/19. Hoping it changes and comes earlier.
Ship date or delivery date? When you're placing an order it gives you initially the shipping window. Once your order is complete the date changes to a delivery target. The ranges seem to be 2-3 weeks to ship with 1-2 weeks to deliver. So, on the short end, 3 weeks to have it in hand, 5 if you're unlucky. It seems that AT&T specific devices with the 256gb option are on the unlucky end of this window. Given the larger base for that carrier I'm not surprised.

Says “ships dec. 12-19th” i have Verizon so I hope I have better luck with getting it sooner and it not being stuck in China for ages.

Same boat my friend. Ordered a 256GB Silver Verizon IUP online on 10/31. In the 12/1 to 12/8 delivery window, no movement from Order in Progress yet.

Someone here mentioned an order date of 10/29 just went to Prepare for Shipping status yesterday so maybe there is still hope for us.
I got a text at 5 am, woke me up. But happily the text said that my phone had shipped. Now to see how long it will be stuck somewhere. Happy just to see some movement though. UPS website says deliver by Monday evening Nov. 27th

This years preorders and regular orders have been an absolute disaster based on this thread. I don’t think I’m ever going to preorder again.

Glad I cancelled my preorder 2 weeks after I placed it. Then within 2 days of canceling, I walked into an Apple store and walked out with my phone. No fuss.

I think many will refrain from preordering next time....

I'm IUP and my phone has been in ZhengZhou for 5 days now. Does Apple have any control over the order in which packages clear customs?

Interesting that you have an estimated delivery date. Has your package already cleared customs?

Its actually business as usual mate - just BAU for Apple. Wasn't the first time and certainly won't be the last. I actually think the pre-ordering process through Apple actually got better since I was last in the market for a new iPhone which was in 2014 for the 6/6+. Back then the Apple store was locked out for around an hour and then the plus was pushed out for 6 odd weeks when I finally got in. For this go-round I had my ducks in a row and got lucky using the MyVerizon App. I could easily have gotten all 4 model variations if I wanted for launch day delivery. When the Apple store app eventually came on line the phones were pushed out 2-3 weeks which is an improvement over the last go-round. I stay away from IUP so can't speak to that process, but seems like a sh$t show.

Next go-around for me (where it be 2018 or beyond), I would still wake up at 3am or shortly before and do the same pre-order. If that fails, then I have no issue camping outside an Apple store the night before launch day with those "foreign speaking Families" who mysteriously rotate with each other through the night, and right before 8am, the number of folks that were standing in line in front of you balloons to double that it was at any time before. Then as you are purchasing your brand new unit, you catch a glimpse of one of those family member's young 7 year old paying for her 2 units in cash in $20 denominations and the poor Apple sales associate counting it whilst rolling her eyes - haha

Most got delivered on - time. But I don't think Apple and UPS were prepared to do two releases two months in a row.

This was the first time I did pick up for one of my phones (delivery times had slipped by the time I ordered my second phone), and I was not really happy with the process.

I thought it took way too long and Apple had some issues with release the phone from their system, so I had to cancel the order and purchase a new one with the same configuration that was in stock.

My other phone which was delivered on launch day was painless.

1) Activate
2) Restore from back up
3) Done

None still the same info

Still no change. I was told by UPS that it is on its way and they will meet delivery date. Most likely it is in a container and will not be scanned again until it reaches a sorting point. Would sure be nice for it to arrive early but I can handle Friday since it’s a holiday for me.

I am giving my old 6s to my child. Wondering if I will have to set it up after calling AT&T. I plan on moving my number to new one and adding a line. Hopefully I can just swap SIM card since closest AT&T store is 45 minutes away.

Another 10/31 order is on the move. My card just got charged and status changed to Prepare to Ship. No tracking number yet, but it's great to see some movement.

Same issue here. mine's been in ZhengZhou since 17th. Coworkers ordered after me and their phones are being delivered today.

All of my orders sat in ZhengZhou for days with no movement. The last one sat there for 6 days before it moved to Korea.

I am confused. I saw tracking this morning that it would be delivered by evening time on the 28th. Now I cannot find where it said that. Now it says
1/21/2017 10:58 A.M. The package is awaiting clearing agency review. / The package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release. ZhengZhou, China 11/21/2017 11:15 P.M. Arrival Scan. Hope it doesn't get stuck

Is it possible Apple is pushing out a lot of stock to its stores for Black Friday and giving it priority over orders to customers?

From the data I’ve collected from these threads the past couple of weeks - Customs really isn’t in this equation at all. From the time my phone hit Anchorage… It was here within 36 hours. Customs stuff all happens once you’re in the states - not really a delay factor at all.

Ordered November 3, Apple store through AT&T with next. 256 SG. Original estimate for shipping was December 5-12. Charged this afternoon. Preparing to ship... looks like next group of order “dates” being processed.

I haven’t had my dates bumped yet but I expect I will in next 24 hours...

Anyone else order on the 3 of November?
