Samsung still gets to claim edge to edge as well even with their .1 inch bezel at the top. No advertising problem there.
I do wonder how pissed the people who passed on the X and bought an 8 based solely on that notch would be if in 2 months they blacked it out the sides (leaving time, battery/signal in white) via a software update.
Don't think that's going to happen though since by then all of the major apps will have updated around it.
Yes girl! We are in this together! Im a photographer so I'm actually a little excited (and scared haha) for the portrait lighting mode. Will be fun to play. Im also hoping the bokeh is improved in the portrait setting and the overall noise is better as they said in the keynote. We shall see! But ya, I'm with you on the X. I just need another year to see how it plays out. I'm not entirely convinced faceId will be faster for me. I'm notorious for having oversized sunglasses, hats, and a full face of makeup. I'm sure it will work, I'm just skeptical. Hope we love our phones
Yes… But you're implying that there's an intentional reason why they did it that they would never reconsider in the future. That's where you and I disagree.

So true! thxThis was definitely the smoothest pre-order in years, I’m guessing due to the fact that lots of people are waiting for the X and the 8/+ didn’t have any components that were in short supply. Almost five hours later and you can still get lots of configurations for launch day delivery. Lovely!
And...SIM free versions were finally available at launch. Absolutely wonderful!

Not dumb at all. I always sell my one-year old phone to offset some of the costs. This year with the price increase, I’ll likely come out of pocket about $300 net to move from my 7+ to the 8+ I just preordered.
For me, it’s a splurge. Splurges don’t have to make sense.
We probably all know people who can blow $300 in a few weekends of partying. So in the grand scheme of things, it’s not even a big splurge.
Ordered the SIM free 8+/256/Silver at 5:45 this morning along with 2 leather cases, a Mophie wireless charger, USB-C to lightning cable and a 4K ATV. leather cases have already shipped as of an hour ago.
Functionally, they’re likely the same. If you look at the image below, their are two models that support CDMA. One is probably the Verizon/Sprint phone and the other is probably the SIM-free, but they both support the exact same cellular bands.

I enrolled in the IUP and got the 64gb gold 8. I am happy with the size of my current 6s instead of the plus and don't need more space. I ordered about 10 am CST and still got launch day delivery to my work.
I am sort of second guessing myself though. My current 6s works just fine except the battery is slowly dying. I have to charge it at some point through out my day so it won't die before I go to bed and charge it for the night. Was an upgrade really worth it?

i was about to order 8 plus for my wife. Showed it to her and she said it looks same as her 7 plus and told me that she will get X with me. So now i will be ordering two iPhone Xs for both of us!
My 8+ is still "Order in Progress".
But my card got charged within an 1 or 2 hours of preorder and has had it pending all day.
So I'm still hopeful my 22 delivery will hold this year.
