I haven’t received a tracking number, just an order number from Apple. I don’t even know who’s delivering it
Ah, don’t worry, nobody else here has gotten a tracking number from Apple either. In the US at least, delivery for launch day iPhones is almost always UPS, meaning you can take advantage of ways UPS hashes the deliveries in their system via ”reference numbers.”

I have two ordered. One standard delivery, then one express delivery. Says paying the extra $8 gets it to me a few days quicker. I guess I did not order quick enough even though it was just a few minutes after they started taking orders. Says delivery 10/30-11/4. I'll cancel the one that comes later. So I'm guessing this is part of the "next wave" of deliveries, which means I will not hear anything for at least a week or more. I just want to asap so I can start using my new iwatch6, which will not work with my current iphone6+. First world problem, I know.

Covid-19 life is different. It's very likely they will spread deliveries out over multiple days rather than let items sit in the warehouse. Especially if they're going to require signatures. But I'm not seeing any indication in my UPS app that a signature will be required.

For items that needed a signature, UPS rang my ring doorbell, stood back 6 feet and confirmed verbally that I was the person on the package before leaving it on my steps. I also have it where I just presigned for packages coming to my address. I have a designated area for them to leave packages. We also do the same thing at the post office when delivering signature delivery packages.

Now that I can see my shipment on UPS, one of the options is to hold at a CC near me instead of having it delivered at home.
Has anyone ever tried that before? I read somewhere that they don't hold it at Customer Center for Apple and UPS website also says that they might not hold very expensive packages.

They do hold Apple Products. I did that for 2 preorders and picked them up as soon as they opened.

I have had it held there the last 2 years no issue

same here. It would be more “comforting” to see a scan update. Lol hopefully it’s still moving along in silence and will surface at the next scan point of the journey.
Same here with my son’s iPhone 12 (regular version, blue). The rest of the family’s going with iPhone 12 Pro Max, so we’ll get to play with the 12 and then wait 3 weeks for ours

Either we departed and that was the scan from the airport and we will see one in another country or the US or we may be waiting for customs before arriving at the airport.

Sadly yes, embargo lifts Tuesday every year.

UPS and Apple have contracts worth millions that explicitly state delivery on the official release date and no earlier.

You can still track now with reference numbers and whatnot, but Apple doesn’t usually change the status to “shipped” until a day before.

I keep seeing this repeated and I get it, but no one here actually has a copy of the contract and Apple may be able to easily change/revise said contract. We don’t know how many years the contracts good for, we don’t know if Apple has the ability to change certain elements of said contract etc. I feel like unless you have a copy of the most recent, up to date version of it, than its entirely possible we might see an early delivery. With COVID-19, literally anything is possible.

I’m with you on the Covid shipping volume. It very well may be possible that Apple is doing delivery’s starting Wednesday. Everyone who shipped early has changed to Wednesday. They may be doing this to avoid delays and having to hold a lot of phones at already busy UPS facility’s.

No updates all day! wonder what’s going on where the delay is from the truck to the facility.
Probably just missed a scan or it hasn't reflected in the system for a few. Seems like they might be staging everything at the airport before putting them on a plane (at which point we'll probably be in sync with those that got tracking starting from Saturday).
