With the reduced number of planes available for shipping stock over from China, Apple shipping bulk quantities from regional stores should help alleviate some of the freight bottleneck. They just have to factor the additional time into getting product over here to begin with, vs having the initial crush of shipments going direct to consumers.
Hopefully their decision to make the boxes smaller this year will also help by getting more devices onto each plane. Logistics is such a huge part of why Apple is successful, and making changes like this should be an improvement for us all.

Wow! That is a crazy concept! Does that mean we won’t be tracking our phones from China now?

I just read another article from 9 to 5 Mac saying the same thing. If it means faster shipping I am all for it!
I would think that pre-orders will still come from China. I think this would be more for if there was no apple store in that one particular city, then when a customer orders it online, rather then coming from the wareshouse, it could ship from one of the closest Apple store as long as they have it in stock.

Imagine the panic in this forum as people are attempting to track their preorders: “it’s the day before launch, and there’s still no movement on my order!!”

And if they don’t have it in stock then it’ll come from China directly.

I will be surprised if iPhone 12 pre-orders don't come from China.
Apple Watch came from China! A lot of them. I just don’t see Apple holding out millions of iPhones at the warehouse in US. I think some people will get them through the stores but majority of them
will go out directly from China.

If you have an iPhone 8 or newer, you really don't. No real upgrades. You can wait for the 13.
Obviously you haven’t read any of the posts concerning this matter. It’s not a matter of need, it’s a matter of WANT! If all I needed was a phone then I’d just order something from Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble’s Caveman’s Phone Shop in located in Bedrock, but I won’t because I WANT the latest and greatest! Get the picture now?? 555!

I was chatting to someone at Vodafone and they hinted that there might be some kind of a bundle deal for iPhone 12 and Watch 6. Has this ever been heard of before with a network provider ?.

Anyone going from Pro max down? And why??
I am definitely not going larger than the 11 Pro Max. I have had a Max size iPhone since they came out with them but I can’t see myself going larger even if it is a tiny bit larger. I have trouble fitting it in my pocket as it is, I bought a game controller battery thing and to fit it in I have to remove the case, I have a DJI Osmo that I can barely fit it in, etc... I also have never been a fan of the telephoto lens on these iPhones. The wide and ultra wide I use but the aperture on the telephoto (for me) isn't large enough and I don’t ever find the photos pleasing. But I have several high end cameras so I am kind of spoiled. So the larger sensor and longer zoom (supposedly) on the 12 Pro Max while nice to have, I am either getting the 12 mini or the 12 Pro.

My number 1 reason for upgrading to the 12 Pro Max is the Qualcomm modem from the XS Max Intel modem. As much as I pay for phone service, I want better connectivity. I also want it for the bigger size, it will be the latest iPhone, change color of device, faster processor and better camera for me.

yeah same issue, i feel i can read about as well on the regular pro as the large one, yet can fir it in pocket and carry it easier... and doesn make my hand hurt 😔 I like the phones that are longer and skinnier, and i think this is their only one that will ge like that, rest are all very squareish

Definitely, other retailers like Target and Walmart have been doing this for years. I’m surprised Apple doesn’t already ship from stores.
I don’t think Apple can carry this many iPhones for a pre-order. Let’s think about it... millions of the people will be ordering the phones. I just think if the model you ordered is available at the store ur going to get it from the store but If not then it’s gonna come straight from China.

Oooh I didn't think about this. I am wondering if the 12 mini will have it. My 11 Pro has pretty good service, but I remember my X was on point with service since it was qualcomm.

Aren't all the phones using Qualcomm modems?
