In which way? I bought a cheap clear case on Amazon just to get me by until the apple leather cases for the 12 Pro are released. I placed my 11 pro in the case and it really only seems a smidge taller and barely wider at all
It is taller and wider but we may be seeing the same thing. I was hoping it would be almost the same size as the 11 which was probably unrealistic.

OMG not again!! Seriously we are in for red flag warnings for awhile. I'll be glad to ferry Margarita provisions up to you should the need arise.
We need rain, just not lots of it all at once. Good to know I have a solid Margarita supplier in you. Thanks!

The respite from iPhone delivery checking is over. I'm back to refreshing the UPS page all the time. At least it doesn't make my heart race like emergency packing did. I was officially able see that on my Watch health records. 😄

So based on what I’m reading about 5G killing battery I think it’s safe to say I’m keeping my phone in 4G LTE almost exclusively. I still don’t see the real need for 5G on a phone, and with the Qualcomm chipset battery should be better restricted to only LTE.

That’s only for reviewers who were probably repeatedly doing mmWave download tests and stuff. Try it out I the real world before you switch it off

too funny! I get the need for escape. I'll do a rain dance in between checking ups. Wishing the mountain folk well and no more fires!

Don’t worry 5G won’t kill your battery.

It may show 5G but not actually be on 5G.

Thanks! It does reset your priorities in an instant. Too late to grab the Margarita - I already drank it.:)
Wait, I need a margarita too!

Taking a walk down memory lane and watching past iPhone keynotes to remind myself of how far these phones have really come.
Wait on me, I’m coming over to join u.

Do you think it's better to not let my 11 pro update to 14.1 if I want to restore the backup on the 12 Pro?

I ran into an issue with my S6 Watch where I couldn't restore from my S5 backup since I had updated my S5 the night before and the S6 shipped with the older firmware. Had to set up the S6 as a new watch, update the firmware, then restore it from my S5 backup.
Thats a fair point, but with quick start if it needs to update the new iPhone it will add it into the steps regardless to successfully move your data over, so actually no it would not have that issue the way the watch did, because of how quick start transfers work. So either or you should be fine, because the transfer flow will automatically incorporate updating the new one if it detects the need.

I would update your 11 Pro to 14.1 now, do an iCloud backup on Friday before the new 12 pro comes. Check the iOS version on your new iPhone 12 Pro by setting it up as new checking the iOS version in settings and if it’s the same then erase all data and set it up again as a restore from iCloud backup. It will be worse if you try to restore an iCloud backup from the 11 pro on 14.0.1 to a new 12 pro on 14.1.

WSJ review explicitly mentioned she switched it to 5G on from auto in settings, so the lesser battery life she got wasn't indicative of real world usage we will all have.

My Choice just emailed and notified saying delivery for tomorrow between 2:15-6:15pm CST. App still says Wednesday but when going into the tracking number it says 10/23. Same dance as last year though so I love these mind games from Apple lol.

Destination: Chicagoland and last progress says it departed Alaska like most here. Just waiting on that Louisville scan now.

They would not need to do this, if restoring an iCloud backup newer then the OS the phone is running, or transferring with quick start, the new iPhone will simply add updating itself to the newest version in the setup process before proceeding to restore an iCloud backup or complete the transfer of data locally.

So, even if Smart Data is turned off, the phone will still display 5G? Did I understand that correctly? Or is that only when Smart Data is turned on? I guess I would want to know if I'm actually using a 5G network vs. 4G LTE.

Sounds like when Smart Data is on, 5G shows but can be using 4G LTE. But you can turn it off and use 5G at all time if wanted too, I guess but your battery life will show?

idk. I would just leave Smart 5G on, you’ll be on unlimited data anyway. I’m sure we will see a lot of articles if smart 5G ends up draining battery.

I’m hoping it’s just one of those things that works. 🤞🏼One of the reviewers said it displayed 5G, he wasn’t sure whether he was actually on 5G or not but it was very fast.

Yup, i just read an article about the same think. It’s almost like in the past, they were over displaying the signal strength. I too would want to kno if I’m using 4G LTE or 5G.

If given the option too, I'd turn it off. No point is staying on 4G LTE honestly. I upgraded mainly for the 5g access. Now IDK if T-Mobile has 5g near me anyway. They say my city does but, no one I know has a 5g phone.

Anyone’s device still at ZhengZhou? I know it’ll show up on Friday, and all the scans will suddenly appear, but it still isn’t as fun as seeing it move around.

Yes I’m with you in ZZ still. I haven’t seen a scan since 10/18 at 11:57 pm. I know it will show up on Friday, but you’re right it’s more fun seeing it zip around.
