I am not off on Pro Max/Mini day, but I am in my office by 7:30, so I will be all good and ready to go.

I just realized my kids have no school that day so I don’t have to rush to drop one off at daycare and get the older one signed in and ready for virtual learning. I just have to wake up at 7:30am and make sure everything is signed in and ready for preorder.

@StaceyMJ86 Me too, and I didn’t even know at the time that I scheduled the day off, that it would be a happy coincidence! I’m hoping that I can order early enough to arrange for in-store pickup.

I was thinking about In store pickup but this would be my first year being able to track my phone in China. In the past I preordered with T-Mobile and this year I’m paying outright. I hate T-Mobile’s ridiculous expensive down payments so I also switched to Verizon.

@StaceyMJ86 Unfortunately, I’ve had too many bad experiences with UPS and am going to try. If I miss the window for in-store pickup, I may just have to use them. I’m so hyped that I don’t think that I could play the stalking game with which Apple store has the color and storage option that I want. At this point, it’s a toss up.
 
Since my Pacific Blue 12 Pro is still in ZZ China, I went to the Apple Store this morning and picked her up.

No muss, no fuss, no delays, no nail biting....

Now I have to arrange return with Apple when the online order that I am so disgusted with....

Plot thickens even further. My phone is now showing a delivery for Tuesday, yet no new scans since Thursday at 11pm. Interesting. How in the world it takes 2 days extra from a city in Miami to my house blows my mind lol

Anyone who was able to get their new phone Friday have an issue when it went to activate your number on your new device? I was hung up on it for almost 45 minutes before I finally said screw it and power cycled them both and then back on and it worked fine.

So my update,

UPS Friday - waited for delivery all day. Finally had to be at the hospital for work by 5 PM for my shift. So missed the package and it said online that delivery was attempted at 8:30 PM EST. Came home at 8:15 AM EST the next day. No note was left on my door which is unusual.

UPS Saturday - I am home and eagerly awaiting package delivery. I keep staring out my window, etc... I also keep refreshing UPS online tracking. My windows face the main street and I did see a UPS truck enter the apartment complex at around 1 PM EST. I was sure this was going to be it! Then 5 minutes later saw it leave... Figured it could be some priority mail... No problem. I'll keep waiting. 4 PM EST - refresh UPS online tracking - Delivery Attempted at 3:15 PM EST. What???? I was shocked. I was literally sitting on my couch waiting for the package. I heard no knock. Literally doubt they even came... Mind you my couch is like 10 feet from the door...

I call UPS at 4:30 PM EST - frustrated, but respectful and tell them my situation. She acknowledges that is is very unusual and first time she's heard of a note not being left on the first "try". I also tell her there is no way someone knocked on my door at 3:15 PM EST for delivery. She say's she's sorry and that Monday will be another attempt. I tell her to please call the driver and tell the driver to come back! She acknowledges my frustration, and says she will notify dispatch and takes my number down. She says dispatch should call me within the hour.

6:30 PM EST - I call back. No call from dispatch. They say again - oh Monday will the attempt. I re-iterate my story and she says let me upgrade to dispatch as URGENT. She assures me I will receive a call within the hour because she has documented properly this time.

8:00 PM EST - I call back. No call from dispatch. I tell them I was told because of the URGENT status I will definitely be receiving a call from dispatch. I am told Monday is the attempt. I re-iterate my frustration. Finally he says ok it will be delivered by the end of the day today. I ask, what does "end of the day" mean? He says until 9:30 PM. He also says I will DEFINITELY get my package today. He is assuring me that this time I will definitely get a call and the package.

10:00 PM EST - I call back. No call from dispatch. No package. I am told sorry it's past the time for deliveries. I told them that it sounded like through all my day UPS just wanted to get the customer off the line and push me off... She says sorry, Monday is delivery.

Long story short,

I understand this is not an emergency. But what is wrong is the fact that there is no note left. No KNOCK on the door... I live in an apartment. I know for a fact I did not miss this knock on the door. This is unreal and I cannot believe this... I thought I would share my "horror" story to you all. Ha.

I thankfully live in a small (74 Units) condominium that has a concierge 7 days a week. It's nice to have everything signed for, logged, and stored securely. They send an email and a phone call when anything arrives. I used to own in a larger condominium (over 200 Units 23 floors) - UPS would try to deliver to each individual door. Missed several deliveries! I spoke to the UPS driver on Friday when she was downstairs at the concierge (11AM EST) - she stated she had a lot of Apple product on her truck - we laughed that people would be chasing her down all afternoon. Sorry for your frustration. Sounds like someone really "dropped the ball".
 
They are still in Zhengzhou is my guess. No departure scan yet. I really wonder if they were supposed to be on that 5:30 AM Kalitta flight? Unfortunately, that could push us all back a day, which would not help you, @Bea220 Hopefully another flight will pop up on the schedule to save the day!
My 12 Pro 256 PB is right there with this group! Hope we catch a ride to Anchorage soon.

I had a similar experience with USPS one year. I ordered from Amazon and the package was turned over to USPS for final delivery. I was in my dining room all evening where I can hear anyone that touches the mailbox. The package was not delivered and USPS left a note in the system that the mailbox was locked (no lock on my mailbox) and no one answered the door. It wasn't an important delivery but I was mad that the driver would lie and just not attempt the delivery because it was late in the evening.

I will say for USPS, we have a deadline to have all packages scanned before 8pm. After 8pm we can not attempt delivery. At my station we are understaffed with carriers so I have my route which is 6 hours to deliver on foot and part of another route which can anywhere from 1-3 hours. When that happens we are late to deliver mail and packages and what you experienced can happen.

If I get a pickup time later than 10:30am, I’m going to have it held at the hub and pick it up when they open.

UPS chat says mine is "guaranteed" to arrive by 9pm today...
but then said if it doesn't then it'll arrive Monday...
The same thing happened to me a few years ago...I sat waiting all day Friday for it and was told that it would absolutely, 100% be guaranteed for delivery that day. When 6 pm rolled around, I called UPS to verify, and they said, “Oh yes, it will get there today; they’re just really busy with deliveries,” (as though this were my first rodeo), and I foolishly believed them. When it was 9 pm, I called them AGAIN and was told that they were making special exceptions and delivering later than usual to ensure everyone got their devices on time. 🤬 When I called back again at 11 pm, they said, “Yeah, it’ll be Monday.” I was furious. Like, I get that delays happen, but don’t effing LIE to me.

Even though I’m short one of my phones the ups driver was driving a Ryder truck. I suspect due to the load they are renting extra trucks OR as people know this is iPhone season so people aren’t trying to rob the trucks.

Curious why you chose to return it for the lesser model.
To be honest the color was the main factor, this phone far better matches the aesthetic I want for all my Apple devices than the graphite Pro did, even if it was pretty. As for features lost...night portrait shots powered by LiDAR....cool but I can live without them as well as the telephoto lens.

Yea that happened to me. I kept getting stuck on the confirm my phone number screen. I had to shut off my old phone and take out the sim on the new one and restart it. I had to figure it out on my own because Verizon said ask apple and apple had no clue

I've been frantically trying to distract myself these days and will have to continue to do so. I got a tattoo last night, went to breakfast out of LA county this morning, voted early today and now I'm thinking of getting a little run in a bit. If we can just catch our flight soon and get our beautiful phones in hand in a few days I'll be soooooo STOKED for our Lake Tahoe trip. I mean, I'll be stoked regardless but I'll be at ease if I can get my 12 Pro by the 29th. Fingers crossed for all of us. I'm rooting for us!

Yay someone else who got the regular 12! I got the green color and I love it. I also much prefer the glass back over the matte. If they had the 12 pro in green with the glass back I would’ve gone for it
