This is my first iPhone launch paying in full on the Apple Store app. I usually have to call T-Mobile to preorder with financing.
I must say, I definitely prefer checking out with Apple. Ordering through T-mobile was always a headache with my order disappearing/having to reorder etc.

Congrats everybody who got orders in for the phone they wanted this morning. Checking stock in my area (Dallas), it seems like the Silver and Pacific Blue Pro models were either most popular or least available.
I'm waiting for the Pro Max launch so I can order a Pacific Blue 256 GB. Haven't done a launch-day iPhone event since the 6s+ and am still using that phone as my daily driver, so it's awesome to be part of the fun again.

Curious to anyone that did the AT&T $800 credit through the apple website, did you get to apply it? Did it just take you to the ATT website?
While waiting for Verizon approval my date slipped to Oct 28-30 so I chose express shipping, but not sure that makes any difference. And I thought gold would be the least popular choice and easy to get.
My experience is that it doesn't, at least for the first week or two. Everything ships UPS Express.
My XS Max is already paid off and unlocked. I don't want the AT&T installment agreement on the new phone though.

This is the one thing that literally makes me mental about iPhone pre-orders, the deep, deep need to check the status every 2-3 hours. The next 7 days - time from when you place the order to the time when the phone is actually in your hands - doesn't quite feel like 7 days, more like 3 months for some goofy reason. 😆
I have 4 confirmed deliveries for October 23. App kept crashing and suddenly have 4 confirmed orders.
Were we supposed to do something on the order screen? I thought you just handle that after the fact, at an AT&T store.
I ordered on the Apple Store app to get the AT&T promo. I selected AT&T installment plan and followed the guidance for AT&T special deal, by saying I did not have a trade-in, since I'll be doing the trade-in via AT&T. It sounds like you follow all the guidance for the $800 credit deal and then the monthly bill credit starts to appear after the trade-in is processed. You can read the T&C for all the details of the deal. Years ago my wife got a credit for the iPhone 7 through AT&T and all worked well.
BullS**t website wouldn't let me enter my Apple gift cards for payment of Iphone 12 pro. And being 3 minutes late opening an order page doesn't show me much for Apple's technical ability.
That is pretty normal in my experience. I am pretty sure that they allocate a lot of phones for the stores to increase foot traffic into the stores.
