Finally got the HomePod Mini and the Intercom feature is great! Except now my kids are abusing it! Lol

me- what do you want for dinner
Kid1-mini corndogs
Kid2-your fat
Kid1-shut up ur fat

Awww. My kids would love it. I’m going to wait until I finish my Christmas shopping and order 2. How do music sound using the HomePod Mini?

It’s really good! At its highest volume it doesn’t distort it! Gets loud for how small it is! And you just bump ur phone up to it and transfers whatever music was playing on ur phone. And not just Apple Music my daughter did it with YouTube playing a song and it transferred. These things are great! Apples cheapest device, and they throw in a 20w brick.

Sounds good. I’m definitely going to order 2. I wonder if my Ring camera alerts would come through it? If not I’ll have to keep me Echo Dots and hold off on the Mini’s.

Ring can be compatible with HomeKit! And they promised it 2 years ago..

  • I’m not a heavy phone user and I don’t do any social media (except this site). That’s the biggest battery saver. 😉
  • Location services. I don’t allow ANY apps to use location services all the time. Set to only while using the app.
  • Display. My brightness is set mid-level. True Tone set to ON. Dark mode enabled. Auto-Lock set at 5 min.
  • Cellular. I am not using 5G. I’m home most of the time using Gigabit WiFi (just need to update my mesh router now), and when away from home LTE is plenty fast for my needs. View attachment 1669878
Netgear Orbi mesh router made a big difference in speed. Xfinity Gigabit.

My battery is great. I hope yours gets well soon!
Share your tips! Lol
I don’t have any. Just set up my phone and started using it. I didn’t do anything unusual to it. The only thing is I didn’t want to use 5G. We’re at home most of the time with super fast WiFi so I don’t feel the need for 5G. Also I’m not a heavy iPhone user at home. I use my iPad almost all the time. I use my iPhone the most when I leave the house or are on trips, which isn’t happening now due to Covid

Did yours finally show up?
Yup, it just took its time. Its funny my UPS guy was like iphone? And I'm like uhhh yeah.lol

As for my case I've got a Nomad Rugged Leather Case in Rustic Brown and I've also ordered a Mous Limitless 3.0 Fiber case. I figure I can switch back and forth and have a back up if either breaks. I"m coming from an iPhone 7plus with an otter box defender case. I'm not going to miss that honking brick of a case!

I used to love bulky cases but after having the XS Max, I only love slim, tight fitting cases. I’m currently using the Spigen Liquid Crystal case, and it’s not thin enough for me. I love the Totallee case on my XS Max and just going to bite the bullet and pay $39 for it.

How do you like that Nomad? I looked close at that case. I have to carry a brick case for work but it’s great for protection and grip. When I get home, I pop it into a thinner case. Right now I’m waiting for the California Poppy leather.

The poppy leather is the first Apple Leather case I've really liked - full coverage all around, no spaces left open but fits so snugly. Cant stand patinas so I may use than only sparingly. I've got the Caudabe Sheath and Mouse Limitless for daily use as well as the Kumquat which works great too, except for all the lint it picks up.

Maybe I need to invest in a mesh router. I feel like I pay too much money for the service that we’re getting with Xfinity.
I’ve been with Xfinity for at least 20 years, and have always been happy with their service and there are rarely any issues. Maybe it’s just my location. Every couple of years I call in and change my plan and it brings the price down. Currently I pay $160 a month which includes their full 4K package including Showtime and Netflix (yeah, they swapped HBO for Netflix premium at no cost), 3 extra wireless 4K boxes, gigabit internet, and a landline. In 2 years it will increase to $190 then I’ll call back and work on another plan. I keep the landline since my 92 year old mother lives with us and she prefers the good old fashioned phones. You could probably get this cheaper, but it’s convenient for all in our house (I’m the only techie one), and that convenience in itself is worth money. 🤪

If you think you’re paying too much, give them a call! I’ve always had success in improving the plan at a lower cost. A little bit of honey goes a long way. 😎

Is it just me or does the 12 pro charge faster wirelessly than the XS? I'm not talking about MagSafe, I just mean regular QI wireless charging.
It definitely charges fast with the Apple cord and the 20w brick.

So though the 12 pro didn’t have amazing battery life it certainly charges faster than any phone I’ve ever owned.

I think it might, I've noticed this also. Seems a little faster than my old XS Max, both had "Optimized Battery Charging" on also. Maybe because the health of this new one is 100%? But my old phone wasn't THAT horrible, after 2 years it showed 93% health.

I can totally understand why. The new phones are a lot heavier. While the otterbox cases have offered more protection they felt cheap and on the plus models made using them really uncomfortable!

Nice, congrats.
Now you can take a photo of your 7 Plus with the 12 Pro Max and ...prepared to be blown away! 😄
To be honest, I got distracted watching HDR videos and getting things setup to take any pics.... lol The screen and speakers are amazing!

But really the iPhone 12 Pro Max is an massive upgrade over the 7plus in every way!

Looks like there are quite a few of us in the same boat...

View attachment 1670318

My Apple shipment notification said 20th and ups tracking said the 18th originally... still really hoping for the 18th 😩
I’m on the same exact boat as you :( I ordered the new MBP and iPhone and the MBP took a day to get through clearance agency and is now scheduled for this Friday but phone still without a delivery date 😭

Hi StaceyMJ86,

Have you considered the Caudabe Veil ?

(I have the Spigen Liquid Crystal as one option for my mini, and I agree it's too much case!)

Good to "see" you around, loving your new phone!
