I’m still showing a Saturday delivery BUT checked my email. This came about 3 hours ago.

Your delivery may arrive later than the date shown in your Shipping Confirmation email. Visit Order Status to view tracking information. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Was your delivery originally scheduled for today? If so, the update to Saturday might be the later date Apple is referencing.

I heard that story last night in the midst of the date change scare around 8pm PDT. Frankly, it makes no sense,l. Why would UPS agree to take on the iPhone and Watch delivery rollout being that hamstrung? The have to know that they are taking on millions of packages, so it just doesn’t make sense to agree to such a no-win situation.

They know to the ounce how much they are going to be shipping far in advance. That's all part of the contractual agreement. Apple knows their inventory availability and they know they are going to sell and ship every single one.

How do you cancel hold for pickup? Mine got updated to Saturday too but I don't see a way to cancel the pickup.
They know not to hold it. Just leave it be. Cancelling it just throws more confusion into it.

Finally got movement on my package and now it says delivery on Monday... I’m very upset

Mine too but UPS swears it's in there for tomorrow delivery. We are both in Gilbert so we'll see who gets it first :)

You can't cancel a shipped order. The only option it will give you is "start a return" you have to have the phone to return the phone. You just gotta wait for customs.

How he is going to cancel a shipped order is beyond me

Yep. This happened to me. Try to cancel but it had already shipped, so needed to wait until I got the phone to return it. Only problem was Apple store I returned it too had no more left, so now I am waiting for the IPhone Upgrade to register the return so I can buy a new one. Of course the trade in kit is still on its way. I asked Apple and they said i had to wait 24 hours to order a new one and for the Upgrade program to register the return. Course now I am contemplating getting an XS Max over the XS. Will have to go to T-Mobile store or Best Buy to check it out.

I am just gonna be honest but I love how everyone forgets about target. Target is the easiest and most definite way to get a phone without preorder on launch day. I’ve said it the passed 3 years. Always have the phone I want. #targetendorsement

I got this message too for my Apple Watch. Apparently the UPS facility lost power Thursday night, and the packages couldn’t get processed.

Wow. Not for me. And I’ve tried several launches at Target as I work there. Usually they get 1 or 2 and have a wait list. Also, since I’m in Houston, there’s like 20 Targets to choose from. And still poor choices for launch day phones.

I don’t get an employee discount on iPhones, but I do on the Apple Watch. So, on Sept 14 I pre-ordered my watch to be mailed to my house. It was going to ship 9/21 with an arrival of 9/24. Well worth waiting the weekend to save $62. Damn if yesterday I didn’t get an email from Target saying it’s backordered until 10/12... grrrr... And not available in store at any in the Houston area.

So, I say you got lucky.

You guys with Saturday delivery are lucky. Mine has not left Plattsburgh yet so based on past experience it’s not going anywhere until Sunday night.

Then they will have to drive past my house to the Potsdam CC center to then turn around and drive back 45 minutes to my house. Except, I’ll be at work.

So, I’ll have to have it held and drive out there myself and try to make it before they close. Can’t risk signing a release and leaving it on the porch.

As a side note I’m seeing a lot of flight delays and mechanical delays on the tracking. I’m betting when they screw up and miss a delivery they put some bogus excuse out.

They had no reason to fly mine from Syracuse to Plattsburgh when 99% of the time packages go by truck from Syracuse to Potsdam.

Mine is finally tracking after being stuck in customs. But my local Apple store had stock this morning, so I guess I’m picking one up and then returning that one.

Why give yourself the hassle? Why not wait for the one to be delivered? Mine was late several years ago. I waited the several days for it to arrive instead of driving 25 minutes to the apple store to get a new one just to go back to return the other one when it arrived. Not to sound like a jerk but is the extra day or two of having the phone really worth the hassle?

Apple Store is ~10 minutes from my house and I’m already going to pickup a watch, as mine is delivering late October and I need to mail my current watch in this weekend to keep my much higher return offer. Or I likely wouldn’t. I’m buying unlocked, so I don’t have to deal with restoring upgrades, etc.

I also need to mail my wife’s phone back so she can have my current one, so there was going to be a lot of swapping to old phones going on due to the delay, including resetting up both of our watches.

No delivery date. Delayed. What’s UPS excuse now? I mean is it even worth staying up until the crack of dawn to order a phone and have UPS mess up shipping?

Mine is similar to the other clusters on here. All my destination from KY through to local Denver scans yesterday morning were essentially false - they were not live/physical. And now, no one knows where it is. Shows an upgrade to Saturday delivery but that would mean they have an idea where my phone is. Which no one - local nor at the 800 number - seems to know. My local supervisor yesterday even confirmed with the dreaded l work - “lost.” I have had numerous issues with UPS lately. This is definitely the worst, and I’m confident will have some impact on Apple’s future logistics needs. I certainly will not opt for this going forward. I typically get my phones via my business team but thought I’d try the fun pre-order (haven’t since my 6+). Lesson learned!

My iPhone Xs Max that I preordered at 12:01AM PST on the preorder date was missorted by UPS and is currently on a journey between Oklahoma and Texas (I live in the northeast). Delivery date slipped from 9/21 to 9/25 (tentative). Waiting for a return call from a UPS supervisor.

Lesson learned for sure! The past years that I’ve preordered, I’ve had zero trouble. But UPS this year decided to F with Apple fans and really boil our blood.
