Thankfully, after nearly going Super Saiyan in the UPS Customer Center, I was able to pick up my phone last night. Apparently they forgot to unload it, and had to go find it. Loving it so far.

Never received mine yesterday. Showed zero movement all day yesterday, but I stayed home and kept waiting on the off chance they would deliver it considering it said delivery by end of day 9/21/18.
Last update was Louisville, KY, United States 09/21/2018 3:25 A.M. Import Scan.

Now this morning I see
Louisville, KY, United States 09/22/2018 6:11 A.M. Departure Scan

So it seems my phone was actually stuck in Kentucky all day yesterday. I live in California.

Saaaaaaaaame. Except mine says Delay with no delivery date. I’m literally 2.5 hours away from my phone and yet they say because of a delayed flight, shipping date isn’t available. UPS is hella playin this year.

Lesson learned for sure! The past years that I’ve preordered, I’ve had zero trouble. But UPS this year decided to F with Apple fans and really boil our blood.
The percentage of people that successfully got their phones compared to the misdirected few is huge. As is typical of any experience-based feedback, the angry few make a lot of noise because they're angry (or felt 'entitled' to something) and make the problem seem disproportionally large. UPS likely has a SLA with Apple (and other major accounts) and I doubt there is a 100% delivery guarantee. It might be something like 99.8%. It will always suck to be in the unlucky 0.2% but no system is perfect.

I would not expect to see any action taken against UPS by Apple unless they violated the SLA.

Mine is similar to the other clusters on here. All my destination from KY through to local Denver scans yesterday morning were essentially false - they were not live/physical. And now, no one knows where it is. Shows an upgrade to Saturday delivery but that would mean they have an idea where my phone is. Which no one - local nor at the 800 number - seems to know. My local supervisor yesterday even confirmed with the dreaded l work - “lost.” I have had numerous issues with UPS lately. This is definitely the worst, and I’m confident will have some impact on Apple’s future logistics needs. I certainly will not opt for this going forward. I typically get my phones via my business team but thought I’d try the fun pre-order (haven’t since my 6+). Lesson learned!

Sorry but the flights that were delayed were to major cities like Phoenix and LA. This wasn’t going to sh*tstain Arkansas. And their status system and customer supports are crap. Someone has to be held accountable for thinking it’s a good decision to try last second Friday deliveries without the backup option of having their stores staffed up and open on weekends to handle these f ups.

Exactly!! UPS knows exactly what’s going to hit them the few days before and after launch day of a new iPhone. They know EXACTLY the madness and volume of packages they’re going to get. They been doing this for years now and they still can’t get it right. Lol

Let’s also remember....the people that are telling us we are over exaggerating are the ones typing on their new shiny iPhone. Wait until this happens to them next year. Mmmmmkay!

I think it isn’t good that UPS missed deadlines yesterday. I understand things can and do happen, but it makes it hard when people make arrangements as I have read to get their packages. I had an experience once when a package didn’t come and called UPS, they showed it had been delivered and signed for to an address that was not mine. They looked into it, and found out the driver had delivered it to his own house and his wife signed for it. That made me mad because the label was correct, he just wanted my package. Hope things work out for everyone still waiting.

You are not over exaggerating. This is wrong of UPS and everyone who was supposed to get their phones yesterday, have the right to be angry. I did get mine yesterday, but it was stuck in China for quite a while and then Alaska. I wasn’t sure mine would get to me. They keep doing a bad job every year.

Apple Store is ~10 minutes from my house and I’m already going to pickup a watch, as mine is delivering late October and I need to mail my current watch in this weekend to keep my much higher return offer.

Did you already receive the box to mail your current watch back in? We are also upgrading our watches, but we just received shipping notices on them (earlier than predicted), and we haven't received the return boxes yet. We haven't even seen a date that we have to mail them back by. My new watch is now scheduled for Monday and my husband's for Wednesday, so we were planning to mail the old ones after receiving the new ones. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something about the Apple GiveBack offer!

UPS never delivered the phone yesterday. UPS still has no updates or useful information.

Contacted my credit card company and contested the $1500 charge. I can be a pain in the ass, too. :)

Sooo, apple sends your product like they committed, UPS messes up, so you contest the charge so Apple doesn’t get their money for a problem that they did not have control over? Classy.

I always get 1 piece of dust under them and as soon as I see it I can't unsee it

We took our phones up to Best Buy yesterday and paid them $7.99 to install our screen protectors for the same reason. Mine looked great, but my husband saw a piece of lint underneath his, so the Geek Squad guy took it back and tried to fix it, but he said he couldn't get the protector back on without looking horrible, so he got a new one off the shelf and put it on. Totally worth letting someone else do it in case it needs to be redone, especially when it would have cost another $35-$40 for the Zagg glass screen protector if we'd done it ourselves!

FWIW a lot of the stores around me have phones in stock in almost every configuration. If you’re disappointed about not getting one delivered yesterday go buy one today and return the one you’re waiting for when it arrives. istocknow.com

Seems like a more pragmatic solution to me.

Hopefully you realize that your CC can close your account if you abuse the system to contest charges. Once probably isn’t going to trigger anything but I’d be careful trying to weaponize processes.

So they think you won’t be so mad if they have an excuse to give you. They don’t want to take responsibility for their mistakes.

Says my phone departed Alaska at 7:41 pm last night. Shouldn't it at least be in KY this morning?
Mine says the same thing but now it's in the clearance part again and estimated delivery of Monday is gone... Apple order page still says 9/24 delivery. It for sure has to be in KY now because it can't just depart AK and still be in AK? I think UPS tracking is way behind at times.
