Name one reason why an iPhone X user who dropped USD > 1'000 last year should upgrade this year...there isn't one.
Why does someone need to upgrade their phone every year? I do because I’m on the upgrade program but this comparison to the year ago phone makes no sense to me because most people aren’t buying a new phone every year!!!

The iPhoneX is now the Xs, which is predictable. However, I fail to see anything that might entice me to upgrade a phone that is only 10months old and which I really like. Anyone that wants a larger screen, I understand. However, to trade the X for the Xs would provide what benefits.......some nuanced enhancements with the camera, a better speaker (irrelevant if you use AirPods), new gold color, loss of 3D touch (HomeKit ??).....what am I missing?
Isn't it only the Xr that doesn't have 3D touch??

Had they dropped the prices as was speculated I was considering upgrading my X and get a cheaper payment to boot. Now that I see they kept prices the same for Xs there is no need especially with no new features. I will look at the watch as I've been kicking around getting one.

I can hold off another year for the iPhone SEX Max - On the other hand (no pun intended) that Apple Watch though...
There’s absolutely no reason to think Apple is interested in selling a small iPhone.

I really can’t imagine enough people would be willing to pay $649 or so for a smaller version of the XR; even at $349 the SE has a market share somewhere around 5% (from what little data is available).

I have an SE, my wife has an SE, my dad and mom both have SEs. We all love them and don't want a bigger phone. It was small, efficient, quick, and had a good battery life. Got $100 off through T-mobile a few years ago so paid $249 (I think). No way I'm spending 1K a phone that really isn't a computer. So sad to see this one go.

I know what you mean. The SE provides the best form factor for me. I don't want anything that big that is on offer by Apple at the moment...

IIRC it's around 8% market share for a phone with several generation old internals.

That's a pretty decent estimate that there's a good market for it.

In Poland AW3 price hasn't changed (1500PLN) and AW4 is the most costly AW ever at 2049PLN for 44mm. The first one to cross 2k PLN. :D

Magical 'reduced price'

It had 8% in the U.S. where the phone was often discounted to $150 with carriers.

The SE was a good phone for price sensitive customers. It wasn't worth mentioning in terms of Apple's revenue.

I don't really understand all the people being offended (or pretending to be offended for the drama) by the pricing. The Xs is the same price as last years X. That was what was expected. How are you shocked / offended by this? I'm quoting this poster but the same applies to all the others with similar ideas.
I actually expected the XS Max (hate that name) to be more expensive than $1099. And how many people are actually buying the phone outright? Aren’t paying it off over 12, 18 or 25 months?

This will be interesting for the enterprise market. 6S was huge as an email machine. 7 doesn’t really add any benefit.

And yes RIP to SE. Would have loved that form factor with 3D Touch and advanced camera. Alas here we are.

Anyone doing market share on iPhones is purely guessing. My own personal guess is that 8% is way too high. Even 5% is probably way too high. I'd guess 1%.

Apple clearly saw the SE was a niche product that could be satisfied by the XR. If it weren't niche, it'd be back. It may come back at a later time, but obviously not the priority and definitely not with the new phones. They maybe do it in March after all the excitement passes for new models.

The SE 2 or whatever will never have been done at an iPhone event. Too cheap. Too niche.

I know a lot of people write grumpy things after Apple announcements.. and I am no exception. 3 years ago they brought out the SE for those that loved smaller, easier to carry phones. Today, those people can all just get stuffed.

I shall be buying the cheapest iPhone, old generation model. I don't care. When my SE and the other one I buy as a spare dies.

I use to see people with the latest Apple gadget as cool and smart. I now see them as chumps, paying obsene prices for little or no advantage.

What's baffling to me is that the XR manages to be BIGGER than the standard iPhone XS. If I was up for a new phone purchase I'd be all in on the XR as I've never been someone that needs the top-of-the-line hardware, and I love the colors (a real throwback to my favorite iPhone ever, the 5c) but it's so, so much bigger than the XS.

How will everyone that sees me holding my new XSMax know it's the most expensive phone you can buy?

They have to know. They just HAVE TO!

Sorry but I am a little confused..

What's the difference between the XR and the XS? Different camera? The processor is still the same right?

Most of the cost is the OLED screen. I need readers now, so high pixel depth is lost on me. I'd rather have the 6.1" screen.

The 6.1" model is literally what the average iPhone buyer wants.

iPhone Q3'18 average selling price = $728
iPhone (5.8", 6.5") average = 6.1"

It was well priced in NZ. Around $550 unlocked 128GB, compare that to the $2100 for the XS Max 64GB...

Question about the X - for those of us with Apple Care, will our phones get replaced with an XS in a year?
