Where were you in the years when Apple spun 3.5" as perfection... and then 4" as perfection? I recall almost no such comments about them when Apple endorsed them... when "one-handed use" was seemingly paramount and anything with a screen bigger than 4" was an "abomination." Funny how our opinions can so readily evolve to fit whatever a corporation has for sale at the moment.

I'm an NBA-sized man myself and I can see the merit of an SE-sized phone and right up to phablet-sizes. To each his own. One may readily agree or disagree with your opinion but there was a time when every iPhone fan readily laid their money down to buy the "perfection" of a 3.5" and then the "perfection" of a 4-inch iPhones- generation after generation- gushing, praising and defending the size to any and all challengers. If it was "perfection" for them then, it could still be perfection for them now... not getting lost in their pocket or purse then or now.

I had an iPhone 4 and 5. I hated how small the screens were. As soon as 6+ came out I was really excited. To this day I have no problem gripping or using my 8+ with my small hands.

I wouldn’t mind a 4, or even 3.5 inch edge-to-edge phone. The original iPhones screen was the same size as a credit card. If Apple could make that edge-to-edge, it could fit in your wallet.

I was hoping, expecting, a new smaller than SE model iPhone. I want a return to iPhone 4: the smallest iPhone. iPhone 5 (iPhone SE) is too big.

(iPhone 4 is slightly heavier and thicker. I couldn't care less about these two "downsides", given its smaller footprint (surface area, space in a pocket).)

Sorry to break it to you, but Apple doesn't care what YOU think or feel.
they will care if you don't buy none of their devices
why you think they discontinue support for devices

there are 2 reasons or possible explanations

1 = the device is too old and the hardware can no longer support the software

2= apple strategy to forced to upgrade the device even if that device is still be able to run their latest software at a reasonable speed

I'm still running my 5S because I'm not a phone person, I'm a computer guy
the funny thing is that apple implemented this "5 years obsolete rule"
but someone please tell Tim that the Mac Pro is 5 years old already

I agreed with you in what you said
but I also don't care about, how many iPhones apple makes

their naming is getting ridiculous

Anyone else on the iphone upgrade program check your eligibility and see they want a payment. I ordered on X on launch day. That needs to be fixed by friday.

Yes. They said that I needed to make 2 payments to complete the upgrade. I think that's right, though, since I ordered last year on launch day too, in November. So I'm thinking they want the October and November payments for 12 months in total before the upgrade can be completed.

Pretty angry they discontinued the X, considering I haven't even had mine for a month yet. Oh, well - keeping it as it's still an amazing phone.

Watch 4 looks great, and I'm tempted to have that as my first "smartwatch".

When was the last time you think they did something earth shattering? Seems you may be buying into the hype too much.

The iPhone is a mature product. It's going to keep making incremental improvements, as they've done for years. You're highly unlikely to see huge leaps in it, just as you haven't from any smartphone in years.
It's not a question of when I think they did something earth shattering. The comment was in reference to other people.

Where is my new mini to replace my 2009 model, my new iMac to replace my 2007 model? Been waiting several years. Guess Apple doesn't want my money. Don't need a new iphone, my 6s and partner's SE will be good to go for several years. Prices are insane.

So just to clear something up......3 years ago my 6S started at 599....for the newest latest and greatest iPhone. Today the iphone 8 (last years low end new iphone ) starts at the same price of 599. And now the latest and greatest starts at 999. Yes this is what apple has become sadly. Because the market is saturated they just jacked up all the phone prices to still make their quarterly results. I really do think its that simple.
Why not? For some reason people keep buying them in huge numbers.

Said no one, judging by sales.
What were the SE sales numbers?

That's great, but my reply wasn't really arguing for only small-screens. Instead, it was pointing out how consumers have a variety of wants. Any one consumer- you for example- with an opinion is not necessarily representative of all consumers. As passionately as you can love bigger-screen iPhones and detest(?) smaller screens, some other consumer could feel just as passionately the other way.

I have an SE, my wife has an SE, my dad and mom both have SEs. We all love them and don't want a bigger phone. It was small, efficient, quick, and had a good battery life. Got $100 off through T-mobile a few years ago so paid $249 (I think). No way I'm spending 1K a phone that really isn't a computer. So sad to see this one go.

Read the terms of your agreement. You're entitled to upgrade after 12 months of payments (and minimum six months of ownership). You want to upgrade now? Meet those requirements. Nobody is forcing you to buy a phone before your one year mark in November.

Look how he holds that phone. Try that with your new XSUltramax Phallus replacement that You pull out of Your 90ies baggy pants pocket...
Seriously? Done. I had to use the broken iPhone I found because I actually like the iPhone SE and use it as my daily driver. Just because I like the phone doesn't mean I presume to know what a dead CEO would do.

Edit: He never would have used that ugly flat design font for the front page of that book.

Thanks, I don't know what I was thinking; Apple has never produced any packaging like that cover before.

Thank You, Mister Cook, for eliminating the only small phone in your line up. The only Phone, that is not a ridiculous phablet.

I had no idea, that You zeroed out customer satisfaction.

And still no new mac mini. Apple just hit rock bottom.

Bozos all over the place.

Steve would have never allowed this.

I think Apple is now officially the bling gadget of the wealthy millennials, no one else can afford to come into the eco system now, just pure elitists only, is Apple's target market. So what, this means the entry point iPhone 6 that was selling at Best Buy for a staggeringly high price of $299 (compared to more modern Droid's for less) is now jumping past the 6s up to the 7 at $449! That is a huge price increase for entry into the now totally elitist Apple ecosystem.

Bozo's and Bezo's, billionaires here and in China...all the same, just making tons of money for their stockholders and corporate heads.

iPhone XR should be priced as iPhone 7 is now. Instead they are recycling iPhone 7 in cheaper price to get even bigger margins (by this time the manufacturing process should be pretty cheap).
