How will everyone that sees me holding my new XSMax know it's the most expensive phone you can buy?

They have to know. They just HAVE TO!

Oh if only Apple reserved specific colors to the largest memory configuration versions they would have instant line of buyers for the 512g models. As it stands now people will just have to scrape and fast money their way to the low end model and revel in all the glory that entails with the people who bought the most expensive versions

This is the first year I have been on the Apple upgrade program so not a clue how I get my hands on the XSMAX!

Have you made at least 12 payments? You can't upgrade until then. When you order, the website will ask you if you are a member and then lookup your upgrade eligibility .

Isn't it only the Xr that doesn't have 3D touch??

I think you're right about that. However, that still leaves me wondering how that will impact apps that were developed with 3D touch and if this isn't a sign that Apple is planning to get rid of 3D touch in all future products.

I find it kind of painful to interact with notifications without 3d touch. But that is really the only place I use it heavily and just to open them. Otherwise its slide to the left and click view.

It’s ok guys. They sell the 7 and 8 with Plus versions as well. The only thing they killed is the headphone jack today. R.I.P.

Most apps were designed without 3D Touch in mind. And there's still a huge chunk of iPhone 6 users.

IIRC it's around 8% market share for a phone with several generation old internals.

That's a pretty decent estimate that there's a good market for it.
If there were a good market for a small iPhone Apple would make one. The same goes for all the dozens/hundreds of Android manufacturers who also don’t sell small phones.

No different from the 17” MacBook Pro. Not enough demand.

Does anyone have the monthly break downs for what the iPhone Xs and Xs Max will be through Apple Upgrade program?

Base model of Xs : $49.91 Base Model of Xs Max : $54.08.

Too rich for my blood. Phone is now officially more expensive that my monthly TV service.

That fact Apple doesn't universally support 3D Touch (to shave money for their profit margin) is a crime.

Most boring event ever... we were missing Edy Cue to top it off...

Products are really good. Both watch and iPhone look great.

Though the crazy prices are beyond ridiculous. A phone that cost more than a computer, they need to be completely out of their minds.
I would love to know how many units they would sell of the X R vs the X S. But they will never release those numbers...

Part of me wonders if they're calling the new budget phone the XR so they can release a smaller XC in a few months, but who knows.

Damn Apple, thanks a bunch! I just got the X and you make it useless. Greed is getting the better of this company.

BTW, why no love for the IMAC???? WTF no one uses old-fashioned computers anymore?

It's because he lives in la la land with all of those yes man apple genius' shining rainbows up his ass.

Now, now. That’s a bit harsh. He is simply doing everything he can to increase the value of Apple and its shareholders. In the process however he shows utter lack of empathy for the little guy. I was very hopeful today would begin a period of expanding market share. I see no product to do that. The 6.1” should have been $699. Under $700 would have had a psychological effect to draw people to look.

The hypocrisy was a stench at today’s presentation. Phil on stage touting “how our customers prefer the smaller size with the larger screen.”

Well, there are millions who would have loved to have seen that in a new SE. It was never an option for Apple. It simply would have provided a high value solution for millions. Apple under Tim is only interested in high margin solutions. :apple:

That's great, but my reply wasn't really arguing for only small-screens. Instead, it was pointing out how consumers have a variety of wants. Any one consumer- you for example- with an opinion is not necessarily representative of all consumers. As passionately as you can love bigger-screen iPhones and detest(?) smaller screens, some other consumer could feel just as passionately the other way.

I don't care about other consumers. I only care about myself.

As much as I'd like an XS, I can't justify $1,000 US for a phone. Was really hoping the prior $1,000 price point was for early adopters of the X and the XS would be more around $800. Still super expensive, but at least some price break.

Found out that the A12 is between 30-50% faster depending on operations. Has 1GB more LPDDR4 too! For the price; I think the Xs line is a bargain compare to last years X model. Everything has been improve a lot it seems. Since I cannot buy one until the "unlocked - sim free" version is release; I can seat back and see how people react to it and the Anandtech tech reviews of the units along with Mr. Fixit break down on parts.

Not sure what you mean. How is the X useless now? And why would they announce an iMac at an iPhone event?

Anyone doing market share on iPhones is purely guessing. My own personal guess is that 8% is way too high. Even 5% is probably way too high. I'd guess 1%.

Apple clearly saw the SE was a niche product that could be satisfied by the XR. If it weren't niche, it'd be back. It may come back at a later time, but obviously not the priority and definitely not with the new phones. They maybe do it in March after all the excitement passes for new models.

The SE 2 or whatever will never have been done at an iPhone event. Too cheap. Too niche.

“Anyone is purely guessing”
“I’d guess”
“Apple clearly saw”

It’s been reported countless times that Apple has a low-end market propblem, namely India has been mentioned on every single invester call the last couple of years. Apple even started producing the SE in India, only one year ago and as the SE got older the sales in India dried up.

Form factor aside, a 3 year old phone will be marganilised simply because it’s freaking old - Apple made the SE into a niche product themselves. And **** ‘em for doing that.

And where’s my goddamn updated Mac Mini?
