Find me a platform with a competent smart watch and a tablet and I will gladly switch.

My personal experience so far shows the newer devices run perfect. For example I never was satisfied with my 6 performance after iOS 8. Upgrading to iPhone 7 solved every issue including he frame skips and micro stutters. I am confident this will be replicated when and if I get the iPhone X also. In my experience, Apple definitely does slow down older devices so that they never recover their original performance. It may be invisible to many but it's definitely there.

Yes I am extremely sensitive to frame drops. I bought a GTX 1080ti to power my PC because I can't stand low fps even in games.

Where is YOUR proof people don't notice these issues?

i have no proof... just like you. but i also don't run around making claims without evidence. seriously, if you're having problems, call apple. find a tech. wipe your phone, start again. do something real, rather than complain over & over. nothing will get fixed that way.

So... you think that Apple is deliberately slowing down iPhones, but people who invested in one are to blame because they haven’t bought another phone?

Interesting argument as ever, stu

Perhaps in your crazy mind you think I said that but I dont believe Apple intentionally has done anything, and repeatedly said that if you bothered to read back in this thread. There is zero evidence from the actual code showing any intentional anything. Absent said evidence, or somehow the OS being sentient slowing itself down for some and not others, this is nothing more than a conspiracy theory or a host of other variables as each hardware/software setup and situation is unique.

I think whining about it on Macrumors forums year after year makes no sense while buying more and more Apple products if one is THAT dissatisfied. The total opposite of what a logical rational person would do.

Let's put it this way, you buy and Audi and they cannot fix it, just a host of problems and lemon it (buy it back) Are you going to GO BACK and buy another Audi as your next car banging your head against the proverbial wall? Or go buy a BMW/Mercedes/insert name?

THAT is the exact logic being presented by some of the same few trolls here who complain year after year yet wont move on from Apple products; just keep feeding the cash cow.

In my opinion THOSE are the true "sheep," not the people standing in line who actually enjoy the products, but those who keep pumping money into Apple who aren't even happy with their products/software yet refuse to move to something that would appease them more. Yet refuse to speak with their wallets but rather choose to post on an insignificant internet forum year after year doom and gloom how sucky their experience is (as if we care or as if Apple reads this or cares).

Or they are simply trolls with nothing better to do with their lives. Little from column A little from column B, IMO

Sadly the Reddit (out of all sites) iOS Beta board has become more mature crowd than MR overall to actually discuss real issues/bugs/features and not general "iOS11 Sucks" threads over and over that add nothing to anyone's knowledge base.

So surely your definition of insanity should be imagining something that isn't there? (I.e. deliberate slow down)

Yeah as if me not buying an iPhone is going to terrify Apple of losing 1 customer. Not buying an iPhone isnt sending a message in the slightest. Apple will still have record sales with or without me.

Have two 16 gb iPhones 6+ in a family, both with original batteries but different usages. One with battery life around 90% and second one with battery life around 50%. If that's not a real difference than I don't know what is.

Today i have thrown my iPhone 4 with latest iOS (7) in the trash can, because it was so annoying and unusable laggy.

Customers constantly demand more features, that use more and more processes which take up more and more time.
Does constant demand for more and more vehicles slow down older roads?

If they are not able to add new features without slowing down the iOS or becoming it laggy, they shouldnt add new features at all - just security updates.

I think they just need more time for a new OS. iOS 11.0 was not good on my iPhone 6, but iOS 11.2 instead runs good (still some bugs).

I hope with iOS 12 they do just clean up, bugfixing and optimization.

Using your logic, you should leave MR and go to that sub reddit. (*edit: oops, I didn't realize you were suspended... Guess we'll see you in a little bit :D Be nice.) You love MR just like people love Apple, despite their flaws. It makes us feel better to vent about something we care about and want to see get better.

And the car analogy doesn't work because there are decent options other than an Audi... with cellphone, there really isn't.

So, what should be the cpu frequency on iPhone6? CPU Dasher64 shows 1127 MHz in my case. I thought iPhone 6 should have 1400 MHz... it my reading normal?

With news about Apple slowing down older iPhones with battery Wear, it's clear planned obsolescence exists at Apple.
I don’t think it’s “clear planned obsolescence” but rather a balancing act. As the batteries get older the operating systems (both iOS and macOS) try to optimize performance to get the most battery life. If they did not, people would moan about how awful their batteries perform. I do think the performance decisions—better battery life or better performance on older devices—should be left up to the user though. I still don’t buy into the whole planned obsolescence theory/conspiracy.

Not really. The entire thread is conjecture. My own anecdotal proof this is NOT happening is I just so happened to get the battery on my 6s replaced TODAY, due to non-linear drainage. Wet finger in the air, no change between old battery or new battery. But as we see these memes live on.
Now we know why battery apps can't read the iPhone battery status anymore, Apple was trying to hide the facts.
Could it be that power management is a bit more complex than a few numbers and apple did what it did, because of that complexity. Or is it easier for those who dislike apple in some capacity to believe there is some nefarious plan in place?

We’ll its happening on quite a lot of 6s users in that Reddit thread. Geekbench scores are evidence of this.

So we now have 2 instances of clear planned obsolescence by Apple.

iPhone 6- Touch Disease/ Throttlegate
iPhone 6s- Throttlegate
iPhone7/8/X- TBD. (Maybe a few years down the line)

As I said my 6s, wet finger in the air, no difference before or after. Therefore it's still a meme as are the remainder of the "items" on the above list.

edit: what I CANNOT attest to is that based on the battery charge level ios 11 didn't throttle the cpu. But as I had a two year old + iphone, if this were in fact true, replacing the battery would result in a 6s with "more spring in it's step", which didn't happen.

Check your battery wear on coconut battery. If its high then likely your CPU has been under clocked.

Coconut battery puts my 6s' battery at 86% with 346 cycles. I did notice the down-clocking of the CPU as the battery drains but it hopped right back to 1848MHz soon as it's plugged in and stayed the same when it's fully charged and unplugged. But that's one way to ensure your device doesn't explode like a Samsung when the battery falls below a certain level since 6s doesn't come with separate low power cores to take over.

Edit: Not sure if that qualifies as "wear" in your terms.

When I checked It yesterday, I had 40% of battery left (I know it is not the capacity). Today morning, with battery almost fully charged I get 1400 MHz. Interesting... I will observe it more in the next days.

Coconut battery only provides any good data when the battery is at 100%.

If you didn't notice any slowdown before how can you notice an improvement? Most people found their 6s slowed down first and on further investigation it was discovered to be a result of battery wear. The intentional slowdown is backed by numbers.

Prior to battery replacement, the 6s scores are as low as the 6
