Several weeks ago, we noted "unboxing" photos of an Apple job offer showing off the sleek and modern look expected of all Apple products.

Earlier this week, we received a new set of photos showing the unboxing of an Apple employee T-shirt. The T-shirts were reportedly given as gifts to Apple call center technical support staff and their packaging and presentation again demonstrate the Apple design aesthetic, including an apparently embossed gift note and the company's obligatory Apple stickers.

I SO WANT THIS SHIRT :)

What is with everyone wanting a shirt designed for a phone tech? I don't understand. You guys must be serious fanboys. Sorry for the stereotype. It only applys if true.

What is with everyone else dissing about someone wanting an Apple original shirt? I don't understand. Sheesh, some people want a Chicago Blackhawks shirt, some people want a LA Lakers shirt. How is it different to want an Apple shirt?

Come on. Official Apple shirt is an official Apple shirt. I want one! :D

This kind of ticks me off as I... an Apple Nerd with mad skills and new to SF and in need of a job... was passed up for a job at Apple retail, yet a girl who didn't even know you could make the Apple mouse right click got the job. So I guess you can "ask" anything... just don't expect an answer.

I know what you mean. Over here at my place the "Premium Reseller" is not better at all.

Some guy walked in with his Sony miniDV Camera and wanted a cable for it. (Sony only gave that guy a mini-FW400 to mini-FW400, also called iLink). The sales guy looked at it and said "Okay, that is mini-USB. I'll get you that". I then politely asked the customer whether his cam was one with Memory Cards or with a tape. He said tape, so it had to be miniDV which connects over FW400. The sales guy then took a FW400 to iLink cable, but then said "The new iMac doesn't have FW400 any more, so I will give you a 400-800 Converter cable as well". I said "MacBooks may don't have it, but iMacs certainly have, especially the alu one your customer has".

So the sales guy did two mistakes and would have sold that poor guy a mini-USB cable for his camera. Great.

lol, nice shirt.

As far as the job thing goes, i think everyone missed the point there. Generally corporations do not WANT pre-educated individuals. They want putty they can mold in the image THEY Want to portray.

There's also the matter of being able to get away with paying these undereducated people a fraction of the price of the experienced knowledgable prospective. Remember, the only people *ANY* corporation ACTUALLY cares about are their stockholders. If they have to pay you an extra $2.00/hour because you've got years of experience, they might not get that .025% share increase.

. . . i wish that was sarcasm /sigh.

I wonder how high up the company you need to be to see behind the pretty boxes. The real Apple. This makes it seem like retail store employees are seen as a sort of consumer to Apple as well.

Font used in the letter

Hi!

Anyone recognize the font used in the letter?

Thanks!

I wonder how the pretty boxes fit in with Apple's "less packaging" strategy?

Has anyone actually seen a Genius reach for the red phone when stumped by a question?

No, they just tell me they don't know what's wrong and send me home.

...Or tell me to buy new RAM after they tried swapping the RAM and it solved nothing. Solutions along those lines.

Your friend works in an Apple store but cant get you a t shirt? I love seeing girls in Apple tops, they are nice fitting :p

I do believe that says "amigo," not "amiga." Or is spillproof the lady... hmm........... :p

Is it just me or is this shirt redundant?

They give these red shirts to people we talk to over the phone... umm yea, i can totally see you. lol

As I posted earlier, it's common practice to 'psyche up' telephone operators. Smart sales people stand up while making phone calls, and smile, etc. Nobody sees this, but it helps the sales person be on top of their game. Apple wants a motivated customer service rep, donning their uniform, ready to answer anything. If this little token gesture helps, I'm all for it.

Now, for Wal-Mart workers, with those vests that say 'How may I help you' in big letters on the back, that seems to be because they're always walking away when you need them!

How does one even go about trying to get a call center job anyways?

The last time i called AppleCare, i asked the person where they were located and he told me that he was in Michigan, or Indiana. When i asked why it seemed like he didn't know about a common Mac issue, he stated that he actually worked for a IBM call center, who Apple hires for Third Party Support.

Apple has external and internal call centers; if you want to work as a call center tech you want to look in Sacramento or Austin. As I understand it, Apple also works with vendors to run additional telephone support centers.

If you're actually interested in trying to get an Apple job, PM me.

Yeah don't get me started. I graduated in May from college and was unable to find a job until REALLY recently. I'm sort of a computer expert and a good salesman, and I thought I had a shot at at least making a few bucks at the apple store until a real job came around. I applied to 4 or 5 apple stores without a single reply from any of them, even though they all said they were hiring.

Don't worry, you'll find something else. I just got a great job and I'll be making way more money than if I were working in an Apple retail store, practically every one of which is filled with hipster quasi-geeks who know less than me about every product Apple has to offer.

Every once in a while you have a great experience at the Apple store but a lot of times you leave annoyed that the 18 year old who was "helping" you couldn't answer a single damn question without checking online and telling me what I already knew.

I bought an apple cinema display a week ago. I knew I wanted it when I walked in the store, and that I was going to walk out with one. So needless to say I didn't have too many questions. I'd been researching getting one for a long time. I asked the retard who was helping me if there was a student discount (which there is) and keep in mind that I asked him purely for the sake of conversation. He said he would be right back and spent 10 minutes in the back of the store figuring it out.

How is it that I basically memorized all the pricing of their products and the kid who works there can't do the same? Ridiculous. I used to assume that if someone was working in the Apple store they were most likely going to be more knowledgeable than myself, but now that would be the exception.

Keep truckin.

You have a SERIOUS attitude problem; Apple are better off without you, it seems.

haha yeah every time I go to the genius bar they start looking up my problem on all the same forums I've already exhausted and then when they can't figure out they deflect by trying to teach me hot corners.
