At what point is Apple officially a cult?

When you find several dead lying in bunk beds with black outfits,and wearing Nike dunk high(or windrunners) shoes.That's when it's a cult!

Yeah don't get me started. I thought I had a shot at at least making a few bucks at the apple store until a real job came around. I applied to 4 or 5 apple stores without a single reply from any of them, even though they all said they were hiring.

Insinuating that low wage jobs are unworthy makes you sound both arrogant and condescending.

Nitpick the semantics all you want, but I consider any job with sub-poverty level wages not a "real" job.

I'm sorry if my standards towards living strike you as "arrogant" and "condescending" but when you move out of mommy and daddy's basement you'll realize too that there is a big difference between a job and a career.

I must admit once I left Apple (was a Genius), I found a job in the Corporate world working on Macs and PC integration making double what I made at Apple. Apple is a great starting point though, and I learned a lot and had fun.

Agreed, but you've answered why Apple didn't hire you for a retail job.

This kind of ticks me off as I... an Apple Nerd with mad skills and new to SF and in need of a job... was passed up for a job at Apple retail, yet a girl who didn't even know you could make the Apple mouse right click got the job. So I guess you can "ask" anything... just don't expect an answer.

On to being serious, I applied to work at one of the few stores here, and they only hire in October. So I went to a "hiring seminar" where they blasted music, sat us in nice, bloated leather seats, and played Apple videos about working there (and adverts too). They then talked about the positions they were hiring for (Specialist and Concierge) and then asked us to pair with someone, so they could sell us! Unbelievable! The girl next to me not only didn't mention what I had told her, but she couldn't form coherent sentences to the group. So guess what happened to my job? Didn't get it. Not even an interview. Because I wasn't wearing skinny jeans, or had frosted tips. Most of my group was older actually; people well in their prime.

I'm not ranting, but I was upset that I didn't get an interview. I could have easily proved myself. The back of the application was a "quiz" in which tested our Apple knowledge. Answered everything perfectly..
