Sure. You equated building furniture with making a photo, you even said you were building photos in post; I’m just using your verb.

Nope. Nice try. You first used the word "building" in post #124 ("Sometimes you have to be pedantic, other wise people think they are building photos in the camera.").

And if you go back and read, I said: "I make my own frames from raw wood."

I've never used or seen others use that word with respect to photography before.

But since that was a term that you used and and apparently believed was common usage regarding photography, I thought I'd use it with respect to all of the work I do in post-processing - for your benefit.

I certainly wouldn't use "building" with respect to anything having to do with photography with real photographers. Again, this was for you benefit.

Making photographs is very much like woodworking. Though I would never expect you to understand that ... even after I explain it to you.

You mean - include the 5x lens on lesser iPhones then increase the prices to compensate?
Lesser? I'm talking about a 15 Pro — the only 'lesser' it should be to the 15 Pro Max — is size. When you start limiting other things, I start to forget why it's called a Pro at all.

“Nope. I definitely do build my photos in post before printing.”

You didn't read what I said above. Or are intentionally ignoring it.

1) You first used the word "build" with respect to how you thought I viewed what happened in a camera. From your grammar I'm guessing English isn't your first language. And rather than use "make" like I always do, you instead used the word build (as I never would). No need for me to make a big deal about that. English is a difficult language if you're not a native speaker - for anyone.

2) Because I understood what you were trying to say, instead of engaging in pedantry, and making a big deal about you choosing the wrong word (I use the word "make") and embarrassing you in the process, I went along with your word "build" with respect to the large amount of time I spend in post-processing making what comes out of the camera (unrefined 1s and 0s) into a photograph worthy of printing.

3) In other words, I was giving you a break, rather than make fun of you using the wrong word. Because I understood what you were trying to say. And that I don't engage in pedantry.

4) Go back to Post #322 where you said: However, you build your furniture with those tools and raw materials, you don’t build the photo with the sensor, processor, etc.

You're right .. I shouldn't have used the word lesser .. less expensive would have been more correct.

Or one could maybe more in keeping with the reality use the word compose, a word that includes both make and build as recognized synonyms.

Sure... "compose" would work. I like that.

But I (and some photographers) choose to use the word "make," probably because if feels more universal for most creative processes.

What I don't understand is why someone would get annoyed and so invested in how I choose to characterize MY photography. I couldn't care less about how others want to characterize theirs - it's none of my business.

I'd even be OK with "inspired by divine intervention." :)

Also... Another thing I find perplexing is the characterization by people saying I can't be a serious photographer because my camera of choice now days is an iPhone. With some people getting really worked up over that.

If you don’t care what word other people use, there was no reason to interject about how you don’t take photos, you make photos as a response to someone saying take. Especially in a discussion about technical image quality which has nothing to do with all the artistic aspects of photography.

I was expressing my views on what MY photography is about. I could not care less how you choose to characterize what yours is about.

Goodbye.

It's less expensive due to the size difference, not to lacking features. There were no serious differences between the regular and the plus/max model since the 8 series, when only the plus model had the dual camera. All the other differences were either size-related, or too minor to talk about.

The 6 Plus' camera had OIS, the 6 did not. Landscape mode on the Plus as well.

Don't worry, in ten years the camera differences will make this year's seem as insignificant as we now view the 8+'s cameras
I'm not worried, for one — I use the Max mode, and also have absolutely no desire to trade my 14PM for the disaster that the 15 series is turning out to be. USB C U next year.
