My observation is that Android fanbois obsess about Apple's latest hardware specs being "outdated" while Apple users don't give a crap about Android phones.

Specs mean nothing. Which phone is more stable and actually works. I am a long time galaxy user. I'm done with them. I have had so many problems with them. Then the apps that put advertising on your phone. I have tons of issues. I could go on and on. No thanks.

I used Galaxy S8 and it is an unwieldy and terrible device. It lags and stutters like no tomorrow. Since I cannot tolerate any kind of L&S, I was back to 7 Plus.

Samsung have a magic where they slow/cripple their phones exactly after 6 months. We can call it “Performance Decay” of it’s TouchWiz interface. Plus only 1.5-2 years of delayed updates.

PS: The A11 Antibiotic SOC in iPhone X destroys whatever cart puller SOC there is in Galaxy S8/Note 8.

Just because it has more cores, does not mean it looks better. If you look at the Geekbench results, you'll see that 8 core Galaxy S6, nor the S8+ has anything on the iPhone X.

People who know cameras should already know by now that more MP does not mean better picture quality. You a chip in the iPhone X dedicated to reducing noise in photos...

Dual lenses (wide angle + telephoto lens).

Thinness and weight may be smaller on S6, but it's got a lot less than what iPhone X has, and plus the S6 uses aluminum frame, whereas the iPhone X uses a stainless steel alloy. Stainless Steel > Aluminum.

Plus you didn't highlight anything like machine learning on phone with Neural Engine, built in Kinect/Face ID, not to mention battery life and full screen coverage (except for a few millimeters around the edges).

If that's indeed the case then tech news outlets are doing a poor reporting job. Comparisons I've seen between the iPhone X and Galaxy S8 reference the screens as OLED and Super AMOLED respectively, as if the tech in the two phones are different.

The practically exhaustive list of devices on the AMOLED wiki article also does not include the iPhone X, which is a seemingly significant omission.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMOLED#Uses

You know what it DOES list is the Apple watch, listed under AMOLED on Wiki that you referenced, but guess what Apple puts on their specs - https://support.apple.com/kb/SP746?locale=en_US

This is just getting silly. Have you even made an effort to look up what the AM stands for? Unbelievable.

Of course, only spec list comparison. They forgot that the S8 is still slower than the 6S.

AMOLED or not. You see all the different versions of AMOLED referenced in the article.
If you watched Apple's keynote, you'd know that Apple has enhanced OLED themselves to have higher brightness, wide color support, and better color accuracy.

Really?

Yes, go watch the keynote.

you do realize Apple does not make a single screen themselves right? Consensus is the X screen is coming from one source. I'll give you one guess where everyone, including industry insiders, manufacturing experts, and analysts says Apple is getting the iPhone X AMOLED panel from (yes, it's AMOLED by definition)

You do realize their is only 1 manufacturer that does that well. LG just started doing it and it looks like ****. But hey Samsung needs to make money some how.

I was reading somewhere that they hooked up some brain monitors to a test group and exposed them to a bunch of apple commercials.
They found that these messages triggered the brain receptors that were usually stimulated by religious fervour. So it's not a rational thing any more.

Anyway Ive always considered samsung to be like the proverbial boxer with a glass chin….their **** doesn't last. Features yes, quality is a big??

Had one bad experience with one of their screens crapping out on me 15 years ago….and decided **** samsung….thats how companies lose
customers...

I love and own apple but this hurts. I don't see how iPhone can be defended with this comparison.

Really need a head bang icon here! ... wow lol..

.. But hey Samsung needs to make money some how.

You make it sound like Sammy is starved for cash! I’m pretty sure Apple courted Sammy for OLED screens.

Also, do have any idea how diversified Samsung is ?

Very simple: ...
In addition:
this is a pick and choose type of list. Call me when the latest and greatest from Samsung includes:
1. 3D touch
2. True Tone Display
3. Fast, Secure, and Convenient Facial Recognition
4. Software Updates
5. Dual Speakers
6. A chipset better than the A11

See? I can make the S8 and Note 8 feel outdated as well

Excluding the faceID, iPhone 7 and 8 have those features too. So, can you defend the price increase for the iPhone X for the features it brings (OLED screen, induction charging, more ram, fast charging), when those features were on years old Android devices. Those features I mentioned require almost no software optimizations or extra work.

Stop trying to fixate on Android vs iPhone and take a look at iPhone 7 vs 8 vs iPhone X. Can you defend the price increase of the iPhone X over the "standard" $650 iphone when the new features have no need for extra software work and exist on older and cheaper Android devices?

There is no defending this. I still love the S6 edge and yes it's better than any iPhone including the future iPhone X. That's when Samsung started to have the overall better design as well. :D

Any screen Samsung manufactures is AMOLED. All OLEDs on phones have a active matrix (the AM in AMOLED) which is how Samsung uses this branding for their panels. Apple prefers not to use the AMOLED branding so it's customers won't realize it's actually a Samsung AMOLED panel (smart marketing scheme typical of Apple). As soon as Apple cut that notch into the screen, they gave themselves rights to rebranding it and paid a healthy penny to do so.

The point of my last response was not to say it's not AMOLED, it was to point out that nowhere I can find has specifically called it that. Btw, the post right above this one is the correct response to, "I may be wrong, but I don't think the X is using AMOLED".

My response has currently been "so apple gives us time travel and you act like its a bad thing? Get real people this is the dream!"

When stupid stuff is shared you gotta respond stupid.

Why
Tesla uses Mercedes parts

To be honest the car industry is about as worse an example as someone could think of.
It is not at all uncommon for manufacturers to use components from other manufacturers or for large groups of manufacturers to rehash the same thing with different levels of pricing.
VW are the master of selling the same basic cars under 4 or 5 different badges in different price ranges.
