The point of my last response was not to say it's not AMOLED, it was to point out that nowhere I can find has specifically called it that. Btw, the post right above this one is the correct response to, "I may be wrong, but I don't think the X is using AMOLED".

No, no it's not, and that's why you keep missing the point. AMOLED is not a Samsung specific branding or technology.

Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode

"Super AMOLED" is a Samsung branded and specific product. The AM part in AMOLED simply means it's active matrix vs passive matrix

Anyone can defend something if they believe in it. It's an opinion. It doesn't have to be right to everyone else.

That being said, I started with Android. I laugh when I see how impressed some people get with features I've been seeing for years.

I like iOS but not as much as I did prior to iOS 11.

I'm ready to go back. It's just a matter of finding a device I like enough spec, price and looks wise.

That's exactly it. Someone just needs to find what they prefer in terms of hardware and operating platform. If somebody wanted to continue using a Galaxy S6 and says "That's the best phone I have ever used and I wouldn't use nothing else", that's their preference. It just comes down to what somebody likes. It's no different than what someone prefers for a vehicle and it's options.

You just said the same thing he did, other than to note that Samsung adds the word 'super' in front of AMOLED for marketing.

Who cares. It’s not a pissing contest.

Some people prefer Android and Samsung where others prefer Apple.

The iPhone suits my needs and I love the product. That’s all that matters.

I'm still a fan of apple. I do not care about samsung. In the past I have experienced samsung phone but it is extremely bad. I have been loyal to apple for so long.

- The S6 is a piece of crap, everyone I know that had a S6 sold it after a few months.
- Specifications are cherry picked.

My iPhone 6s is going to get the next OS update today when it's released, not sure if I can say the same thing about the s6.

Excluding the faceID, iPhone 7 and 8 have those features too. So, can you defend the price increase for the iPhone X for the features it brings (OLED screen, induction charging, more ram, fast charging), when those features were on years old Android devices. Those features I mentioned require almost no software optimizations or extra work.

Stop trying to fixate on Android vs iPhone and take a look at iPhone 7 vs 8 vs iPhone X. Can you defend the price increase of the iPhone X over the "standard" $650 iphone when the new features have no need for extra software work and exist on older and cheaper Android devices?

And that is why I ordered the 8 Plus, not the X. Plus that stupid notch. But the comparison still stands, the X is better than the Samsung phones being discussed here in those points. Since the Note 8 costs almost as much as the X, this is defendable

Such measured comments don't belong here.

Have a spell & come back when you're ready to abuse others for not sharing your extreme opinion. :D

It's easy. Hardware doesn't mean dick if the OS is trash.

Look at iOS HomeKit, iMessage, Photos, Camera app, Keyboard is superior, FaceTime Video, Facetime Audio, We get more usage in our everyday lives then Android people who sit around watching Netflix/YouTube on their devices who eventually get bored and lose interest in customizing their ugly UI for the 10th time.

They still use text messages. How oudated is that? It's the iPhone that always gets better cell phone signals due to well designed/engineered hardware LTE Bands. It's Android people that don't get it.

It all boils down to a stable solid OS at the end of the day. Last I checked the S6 did not do very well either. So what does that tell you about hardware when the OS is crap?

My AT&T 7+ gets horrible signal (is a known issue, apple admitted it) iMessage is better for now but once rcs gets going it'll be better. Photos is meh, camera is the same on both. The s6 was garbage though, luckily both OS have improved and are both solid. Airdrop is better than photos Imo, their photo app is just as good...they don't have anything like Airdrop though

Nothing to defend. Crappy quality, crappy OS, crappy performance, crappy security, crappy privacy, crappy ecosystem. Samsung can throw whatever they want at a phone and it's not going to make a difference to an iOS user. Android fans like to creep around these forums thinking iOS users honestly care about what goes on on the other side. I honestly don't even think about it. Some of you really need to get a new hobby.

Yea I've said this before, Apple used to lead by 2-3 years, now they are behind by that much. And iPhone 7 corroborated that Apple didn't need to do much to sell like hotcakes, so it seems they have no pressure to innovate anymore.
When did Apple lead by 2-3 years?

I played with a Note 8 in Best Buy a week or two ago and don't get me wrong it's a great phone hardware wise which I really liked. However I cannot get around Android. That would be a solid step backwards IMO. iOS is much more polished and the X performance stomps the Note 8 despite it having "better" specs on paper.

Android, the associated fragmentation and the constantly delayed updates are enough to make me swear off that entire ecosystem, regardless of how incredible to hardware may be.

I love and own apple but this hurts. I don't see how iPhone can be defended with this comparison.

Every year I see an image like this - it started with the iPhone 4 if I remember right. As someone who was HEAVILY into Android and as someone who loves Google a lot more than Apple --- does it bother me? Do I feel the need to defend it? No not even a little.

My Samsung Note 3 was a great device. I liked it. But holey wow did it have its problems. Out of the box I couldn't get it to connect to WiFi no matter what I did - a firmware update was needed to fix it but of course Verizon wouldn't put out this update until years later so I had to root. Forced adware, lack of updates, horrible UI, etc... Yes, my Note 3 had Face Unlock but it barely worked and needed perfect lighting. Samsung phones back then were incapable of taking photos at night with the default Samsung camera settings (would take 4 seconds to take a photo and unless you held it perfectly it would be blurry unless you turned off the default setting) - I remember helping 5-6 Samsung Galaxy owners do this at the Hollywood Bowl years ago but not before they got so frustrated with their inability to take photos while iPhone users snapped away.

I could write a book about what I think is wrong with Android. My most recent venture with the Nexus 6 solidified within me what I already knew. Android is fragmented, requires a bit of tweaking and working to make it work right out of the box. The Nexus 6 I got had a bug where the Google Services used 100% CPU and would make the phone burning hot and run out of battery in a few hours - out of box. The screen was unusable outside in sunlight. And I had to return it because of LTE radio issues where it wouldn't go back to LTE if it went to 3G unless you rebooted the phone.

The Pixel is probably the closest Google has gotten to get me to return. Like any phone, iPhone included, it has its issues but it is a really great phone. But even 4 months after its release, I couldn't find a Pixel XL anywhere. EVEN 6 months later!

Just because a Kia has a few features that a Porsche doesn't, doesn't make the Porsche a horrible car or "behind the times." Same goes for Samsung - albeit Samsung has REALLY closed the gap in the last few years to be a real contender. As an iPhone owner does this bother me? No.... I ENCOURAGE IT because Apple needs competition to do better and we as end users benefit.

I always tell people - if you haven't tried out Android - try it out. If you haven't tried out Apple, try it out. You really don't know unless you try for yourself. Each side has benefits and you need to find out what is best for you.

The fact that there are so many Android users out there willing to come to an Apple forum to defend their choice really makes me question things. I used to be a serious member of DroidForums.net - had a great few years helping people root, ask questions that weren't bashed with (if Steve Jobs thought it was worth it, he'd have done it!), and met some really nice people. We never really had Apple users coming to our forums like Android users do here. Quite interesting.

Choose for yourself what you like. I've made my decision and I encourage others to do the same - think for yourselves.

When did Apple lead by 2-3 years?

Apart from the iPhone itself, one of my all-time favorite things where Apple led was retina displays, Apple led the world by introducing 300+ PPI display with the iPhone 4 in 2010 for the mainstream market. By 2013 the 300+ ppimark was found on midrange phones such as the Moto G, ie 2-3 years later. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retina_Display

Defend a Cadillac over a Chevy Malibu. Defend dinner at Ruth's Chris over Steak and Shake. There is nothing wrong with the Malibu, Steak and Shake or an Samsung phone, but they're not a Cadillac, a filet at Ruth's Chris or an iPhone.
