Wireless charging: i agree.

Facial recognition i think is a step back. It’s been available on windows for ages, don’t use it there either.

There’s plenty of stuff iOS can do that android lags behind in.
Like?

My preference is iOS but in terms of features android has more.

Yes, I'm impressed with Windows facial recognition, I use it all the time on my Surface Book

Like what? I'm curious to know what IOS has over Android? Apple was always behind Android in terms of cut/paste, multitasking, and the notification center.

You're also comparing a phone that came out in April and phones with the same soc as those in April to a phone that isn't out yet. If you want to to play that game the S9 I would assume will kill the iPhone 8 with the 845? I mean you can say that but you're then comparing a phone that will come out in Spring 2018 to a fall 2017 phone.... Seriously who cares. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S8 plus after having am iPhone 6 plus and a 7 abs all are great phones. Might buy an iPhone X as well.

Um no... at the pace Apple is improving their SOC, i doubt Qualcomm will ever pull ahead. Current Snapdragons are barely at A9 levels.

The specs are irrelevant when iOS runs much more smoothly than android. I tested the iPhone 7 and 8 compared to my S7 edges and they're both way more responsive and smooth.

Nothing to defend as far as I’m concerned.

There’s one “spec” that matters more than any other to me for the time being, and that’s iPhone == iOS, other phone != iOS.

It’s funny. I have a newer coworker who is all about Samsung. He spent a few minutes listing all of the things Samsung has that the X is just getting. I let him rant. Tough part is he is right. However, I asked if he liked the curved edges. He said not particularly. Do you like the fp sensor location? No. Do you use the facial recognition? No, that’s not secure... Have you used iMessage or FaceTime? Yea, I have to give to them that they work great. Did you know that apples facial recognition is 3D so it supposedly cannot be fooled? Oh really..? Etc. etc. you don’t have to defend it, but you are way more informed than most by being on this site and can certainly have an intelligent conversation about the options.

I admit I have been looking at Samsung this year and last. I just think that I will regret the move afterwards.

I love and own apple but this hurts. I don't see how iPhone can be defended with this comparison.

I disagreed with Apple in removing the earphone jack.

Now I look at people and think, how do you walk around with that cable.

Just because a device has better specs doesn’t sell me if what I am using meets my needs and I enjoy it.

Does Porsche use Ford parts? Because Apple is using Samsung's OLED display in their $999 phone. :p

Actually you would be surprised to find out that car manufacturers don’t make all their parts they get them from others manufacturers and just include them in that years model. You think Porsche makes tires, windshields, radios, wiper motors to name a few. No they do not. Sorry that was a very bad analogy.

In fact for years Ford used Mazda engines in Ford Rangers.

Apple buys parts which they require meet certain specs and use others companies to put it all together. It only says designed by Apple and so it is.

Samsung does not make every part for their phones either. So this is a silly argument.

how come the staff member is giving Android side? and why the Admin not blocking the troll's?
S6 has a very weak battery, iPhone 8 battery last alot longer even its very small
2K screen no difference to FULL HD, then why did Samsung set screen resolution default to FULL HD?
if you install to many app's on Galaxy S6 start's to lag and stutter. takes 5 months to get a major updates (android 7)
2 Years of major updates only. 3rd year you get small security updates that's it.
most android OEM don't have a local store. shop/. some android phone like LG for exmple have boot loops' over heating, alot of lag, LG UI looks childish

the main reason i can understand why people get Android is for icon packs, change launcher, can change swipe gestures, custom ROM, root, themes support, and most android phone's alot cheaper. people who like customise.

android troll's keep saying Apple is expensive, overpriced. but what about Google Pixel 2, what about LG V30?
note 8 price is high aswell. next year 2018 and 2019 android flagship phones will be hitting £1000 mark. but android troll's are going to ignore that

But that being said to my previous post. I'm happy to jump onto android again and adapt to it very quickly knowing it's downfalls without much issue as i would consider myself a tech geek who is curious about just anything. It's just personally I have been using android for 3-4 years, then I'm using iOS for 3-4 years as of now. Then i don't know, maybe android might appeal to me again? Idk, for me personally I like both operating systems as a whole although I'll give to the edge of the iPhone whilst being locked down is more slick smooth and stutter free in terms of animations.

The truth is I guess I'm not really needing the "open-end space" to dump files into my phone often, I have my external hard drive on deck in my schoolbag all the times. Sure there will be someone who will go against it and thats fine by me but how many are going to do that first, is it important? Question this.

Agreed. Just like Apple relies on Samung for OLED panels and they have used their processors in the past. Even though their competitors, they still use each other's resources for the development for other products.

For example, I purchased a new Samsung 4K/HDR television last year, and I found out the panel used on my TV dislay, is actually a Sharp panel and not produced by Samsung themselves.

Better colour reproduction

I love it when people use this as a reason why the iPhone is better. Screens in phones today are incredible. They might have slight differences, slightly better contrast, slightly worse resolution, but nothing that is going to be noticed in day-to-day use and nothing that would affect any part of that useage.

And remember, Samsung is making the screen for the new iPhone 10.

Unless you're grading your latest Hollywood blockbuster on your iPhone, I can't believe "colour reproduction" is really that important.

Why are Android users so obsessed with the iPhone? I couldn't care less about Android phones.

In all fairness, this site is obsessed with Android, too. The front page often has articles about Android phones and these forums are full of comments about "Samesung" etc etc.

But I agree. I don't really get why anyone gives a toss about which is better. iOS and Android are both amazing and do a lot of incredible things, and the phones available for each are also incredible.

Thing is, a lot of the spec sheet stuff is irrelevant. in real terms the iphone has had better more accurate colour, faster performance from 2 cores than android has had from many more, way better software, etc.

You are right, the iPhone 6s has all that: better colour accuracy in pics and screen, better ecosystem, better single core performance .... So why is the iPhone X so much more expensive than the iPhone 6s? The only new things in the iPhone X are stuff that android phones had years ago (OLED screen, bezel less design, induction charging, fast charging out of the box) and didn't cost extra.

How do you defend the price increase?

Yet the 835 is better then the A10?

Where did you hear that?

Yet you use a post with a prototype... The multi core score is better with the 835 then td A10 Fusion. You can look elsewhere for scores or I can post them later from my. IPhone 7 plus.

Based off memory the iPhone 7 plus scored around 5600 multi core score on geek bench.

Either way who really cares? The average Joe buying these don't care.

My honest answer is Face ID, assuming it delivers. I just don’t know that Face ID is worth that $300 premium.

I guess the oddest thing about this whole scenario is that you basically have the “edgeless” device that Samsung did two years ago and very few peoooe are crying “copycat”. Meanwhile anything Samsung does is ridiculed as Apple being first.

I personally think Samsung makes some wonderful hardware. I just can’t get behind the software.

IOS is just smoother. Not only that, but I like having the option to go to the Apple store for my phone to be fixed if need be. You don’t get that option at all with Samsung

The price increase doesn't have to be defended. It's a free market and if people want the device they will buy it. If a customer (or potential customer) see value in the device, they will purchase it. If the iphone x is not priced correctly the market will let apple know big time.
