That article has zero benchmarks comparing the speed versus iOS, in fact iOS is mentioned just once in the entire article as far as I can tell, where it says that over time Android is becoming more and more like iOS.

Here's an article with benchmarks, testing exactly what you said, iOS 11 versus the Samsung Experience version of Nougat:

Great article. Don’t think your going to get a reply.

Yet you use a post with a prototype... The multi core score is better with the 835 then td A10 Fusion. You can look elsewhere for scores or I can post them later from my. IPhone 7 plus.

Based off memory the iPhone 7 plus scored around 5600 multi core score on geek bench.

Either way who really cares? The average Joe buying these don't care.

2017 835 should be compared to the 2017 a11 bionic, which absolutely demolishes it.

Having the fastest processor is moot point when considering how inefficient the iphone UI is.

A fraction of second slower in app opening speed does not impact user experience compared to the seconds slower to do basic interactions in IOS compared to Android.

Don't know what you're on about but I had the S8 for 3 months and everything was faster on my iPhone 7 day to day use. For example on Android to quote and reply to a whatapp message requires press an hold the message wait for the reply symbol to appear at the top of the screen to then quote someones message.

On the iPhone, all I have to do is swipe right on the message i want to quote and done. Simple things like that its just so much easier on iOS compared to Android.

I sold my S8 and haven't looked back. Cant wait for the iPhone X.

I love and own apple but this hurts. I don't see how iPhone can be defended with this comparison.

If Samsung phones ran iOS then you’d have a point of discussion, however they don’t.

It’s not the hardware they makes the iPhone good, it is iOS

Speaking of iOS, i wish apple would make the new releases every 2 years and they spent more time fixing all the little issues with the OS.

It’s funny how everything is moot when your phone of choice doesn’t have the fastest processor.

It’s also not really a fraction of a second either.

No idea how a phone ui is inefficient.

Shooting 4K at 60fps is basic?
835 still can’t do that. A11 can.

Samsung scrambled after the iPhone 8/8+/10 announcement after learning they do 4K 60 and 1080p 240. Saying “oh hey! Us too, but let us write an update and “enable” that feature.”

Really? If their phone was capable of 4K 60 and 1080p 240, why did they not speak of it at all during their announcement? Funny how it wasn’t until Apple announced as the first smartphone to do 4K 60 + 1080p 240, they “now” will magically be able too as well, sometime down the road, enabled via an update.

Hahaha so true.

Mobile phones were never about best specs or most features if you ask me. I’d chose an iPhone 6S any day of the week rather than a Galaxy S6 and later, simply because iOS.

How the iPhone coexists with a Mac is just plain magic to an android user.

Samsung users have dex
Some think that’s the same thing.

I do not think you need to defend anything, you buy what you think works best for you, I do not buy specs, I buy the product that works for me.

How do you defend buying a car when there is a competitor with better specs?? Price, Needs, Preference, Aestethics...... I could go on, you do not buy a car only based on how many CC the engine is. :p

I am sure you do not have all the "best" products, sometimes you make compromises, some do it with the car, some other with the phone and someother with the food......

Apparently it was advertised on their website before the Apple announcement.

Some hunk that’s the same thing.
Well no it’s not the same thing. Dex is more sophisticated.

However I won’t be using it.

Android users will always compare their phones to the Apple iPhone. It’s true they have some specs that exceed iPhone 8/8+/X but which one sells more devices? I already have a complete Apple infrastructure. I’m not changing. My iPhone syncs with my Apple Watch, it can Handoff to my iPad Pro or MacBook Pro. My iPhone can make adjustments to my Airport Time Capsule router or control my Apple TVs. Then my friends and family are using Apple which allows me to Airdrop or iMessage.

I have to say for many years I have preferred the screens in the top of the range Samsung phones. So much nicer than the iPhone screens. If only Samsung didn't run Android, I would probably have one.

I am not talking about app but rather the general deficiencies of ios ui wrt

1. Disjointed navigation between apps (non stacked based)
2. No global back and task buttons
3. Convoluted Settings implementation
4. No support for shortcuts
5. Slower scrolling rate
6. No USB host support
7. No user accessable file system.

Your points replied to:

1. Disjointed navigation between apps (non stacked based) (This is your preference I don't like stacked, like it is in safari I prefer the card layout)

2. No global back and task buttons (You just swipe left from the left side of the screen its much more simple than swiping up the virtual controls to then click back)

3. Convoluted Settings implementation (Convoluted compared to Android??? Wow. Android has the most messy settings menu i've ever seen. Can hardly find what I'm looking for, again showing More isn't better)

4. No support for shortcuts (Short cuts for what? You're most used apps show up when you pull down on the screen for easy access)

5. Slower scrolling rate (I haven't had any issues with scrolling speed on either devices.)
6. No USB host support (Something I don't need)
7. No user accessable file system. (The file system is something I don't like on android)

It just shows you preference is rule of thumb here. You like what you like, I've never knocked anyone who uses android it doesn't bother me I don't care. I prefer iOS and therefore continue to use iPhone. I tried the S8 cause i loved its design an OLED screen but android was hard to adjust to.

Dex more sophisticated than continuity?
good one.

Well DeX allows you to use your phone as a desktop computer which does more than being able to see messages on your mac, or making phone calls or opening up the same safari page you were looking at on your phone or iPad on your Mac.

Sure continuity does all of that wirelessly compared to A glorified usb hub with an hdmi out connector isn’t really my definition of sophisticated, nor is using a mouse with a smartphone.

And apps have to be written for it. Honestly if Samsung had any faith in it they wouldn’t have included it as a freebie promotion. Don’t really think there will be a version 2.

That sounds like a commercial for the fast and furious, too funny.

Oh well I won’t be using it anyway (DeX). I was just stating that from a functional point it does more but I use continuity all the time.

There is most sophisticated and then there is a better user experience. I choose better user experience 10/10.

When I get home I do not have to think about what to do with my phone. I can plug it in to charge whereever I want and go sit on my laptop. Now while on my laptop I continue to get messages, calls etc and have access to all the tabs that were open on my phone.

I don't want to have to be theatered to my phone to access my messages or calls.
